Fun and easy hike for everyone. We took our furry friends on this hike and had a great time. The views are phenomenal.

Take the 850 road which is unpaved to the 1st parking lot with a lake to the south side. Here you can see the waterfalls in the distance. You will have to cross the river which has no bridge. Either take off your shoes or skillfully traverse the river by rock hopping across. If you have poles you stand a better chance of not falling off the stepping stones. After the falls you can drive all the way up to the dam and park there. Mountain goats do walk about there to lick the dust off cars or lick the roads there for salt which was left over from the salting of the roads during winter. If you are lucky you will be able to see them up close. Apparently they are there frequently. The views are spectacular in this glacial valley.

This is worth the bouncy dirt road drive! Located just out of the town of Breckenridge, there are additional trailheads on your way up. We chose this simple hike around the lake and explored a waterfall and an old mining cabin. We brought our lunch and perched on a large rock near a waterfall to enjoy it.

Beautiful spot!! Worth the dirt road/side of a mountain drive up! And you don't need 4 wheel drive to make it!

Do not miss this spot if you are in Breckenridge. Even if you are not an avid hiker or fitness buff you can drive almost right where you need to be. There is a cool cave just below the reservoir. My son went to explore it but it was dark and wet with strange noises coming from it . He lost his nerve . We saw Beaver , Mountain Goats, foxes and more chipmunks than one could count. If you take your time, any vehicle will be able to navigate the somewhat choppy dirt road to the top of the reservoir. Do park at both lots and explore the upper and lower areas separately. This is a nice time for the whole family or just by yourself.

Definitely once you park go down the hill to go look at the other trail that leads to a waterfall!! The in and out blue lakes trail leads you up towards the 2nd lake and has good views. Uphill climb the whole way but was easy!
