Me and my husband booked this place for a week for our honeymoon and oh my goodness y'all this is such a hidden gem! From the first minute we called Pamela- we were an absolute wreck, confused, my husband and me were both frantic. We booked super last minute too. She was super patient, and despite being the only one handling reservations there, called me back within the hour and managed to get us straightened out and set us up for a week, we payed in advance even though we are from Missouri. Can't tell you how much stress it took off us, we were able to enjoy our roadtrip in peace knowing that when we got to Colorado we didn't have to worry about where we were sleeping, she kept us very up to date throughout the whole thing and all our texts were always answered within the hour. Now the place itself- is super cute and cozy, we got the romantic room 7, and it has a big bed, and a little fire place, was perfect. Now this might be controversial where i'm from but i'm a medical marijuana user and depend on it to function wanted to go on my honeymoon not worrying about it, this place does not allow smoking in rooms but it was nice that way! Because the rooms smell clean and are more comfortable, but at the same time, they have smoking areas that are very nice, and the veiw is amazing and we wanted to be outside anyways! They have numerous firepits /firewood too/, couches, tables, cushioned chairs, and a hammock. There was a little windchime outside our door that you would hear in the morning. This place is so charming and has a little magic in it, made our honeymoon so special. I don't know what happened to a previous commenter but I implore you to just talk with Pamela about any misunderstandings, she is one of the sweetest ladies i've ever met and I can't imagine there being a mean bone in her body. Deffinatly plan on coming back for anniversaries

We had to visit family, and stayed here. GREAT customer service, comfortable and quiet. Even has a smoker and a grill for the guest to use. Southwestern motif. If I wouldn't have been charged, I would have left with the blankets and chest. :) Highly recommend this place.

Quaint small place run by some wonderful and helpful people. We were just there in our 42.5 ft motorhome to convalese from getting Covid. Beautifully quiet and amazing wifi available. We were able to get packages there as well. Salida is just 15 min away, with grocery stores and other places to go.

Trust me, I wouldn't have taken the time to write this long of a review had I not thought it was important that others know what they're getting into. Especially when the owner attempts to physically attack a tenant because they were late on their rent. Yes, that actually happened. And keep a close eye on your wallet!Three years of living and traveling in our RV and this is by far the worst experience we've had so far. I made reservations on a Wednesday for 2 weeks starting that Friday of the same week. While making the reservations Pamela Scrivner (supposed owner) told me there were only two spots left. Apparently I was lucky to get one. When Pamela texted my receipt, I saw there was an additional $20 charge for a processing fee. All across the country, NEVER has anyone charged us such a fee! But to NOT tell me and then just charge it is paramount to stealing money out of my pocket. If you're going to charge such a ridiculous fee, have the guts to tell people. In the end, I just chalked it up to "OK, you got me." On late Thursday, we realized the "park" has an elevation of 6700 feet. This was a problem as my wife does not do well in higher elevations (medical issues). At this point, all we could do is call Pamela Scrivner on Friday morning to see if we could get a refund. Not expecting a full refund (certainly not the $20 processing fee) we were hoping for a couple of days charge (I understand it was my mistake) in order for them to rebook the spot. After all, there was such a huge demand! Pamela Scrivner says she has to get back to me because she couldn't do a refund without talking to her business partner. Wait, everything Pamela has said on the internet indicates she's a one woman show. Now there's a partner? Which is it Pamela Scrivner? Did you lie to me or other people on the internet? Nevertheless, Pamela's greed was stronger than her caring for someone else's well being. The best she could do is offer a voucher, good for three years, but there will be no refund. If this elevation compromises my wife's health, why would we come back? Based on the looks of the run down park, my guess is she had already spent the money. We are retired and on a fixed income ourselves, so we can't just throw away $454 because Pamela wants to keep the money. Having spent the past 3 weeks in the Black Hills and exploring northern Colorado in high elevations, my wife decided to give it a go and see if she could tolerate the elevation for two weeks. When we arrived, it was apparent Pamela was expecting a fight, or the least, a very nasty person. She didn't get either one. But that didn't change her attitude. While in the golf cart with her, she burped and the smell of beer that came out of her belly was overwhelming. Really disgusting! After asking questions about the 3 sites she gave me to pick from, she reminded me she had the right to refuse service to anyone. I asked her what I said or did that would prompt her to threaten me like that. She had no answer. But she did bring up her rights two more times before the conversation was over. It became abundantly clear she was trying to piss me off and looking for a reason to kick us out, and of course keep the money. Then re-rent the spot. I never had a chance with this woman. She had a plan and was looking for an argument. She didn't get one. She then demanded I use a heated hose, when in fact her website "recommends" it. When I told her I checked the weather and it wasn't going to drop below freezing until after we leave, she checked for herself and said she would let me use a hose and not charge me the usual rental fee. Then she spent an hour trying to hook it up. She eventually gave up and left it laying there. She never did hook it up. Within the first two hours of being in the "park," we witnessed Pamela arguing with our neighbor for rent. At one point Pamela physically charged the tenant. In fact, another woman (from another space) had to physically hold Pamela back. This is supposed to be an owner? Physically threatening and going after people? And if Pamela Scrivner wants to deny this, we'll be more than happy to post the video we took of the altercation. We took it from 8 to 10 feet away through our window, and it's perfectly clear. After watching this, it became readily apparent this isn't a very friendly place, and neither is the owner. A few days later, the two 5th wheels on either side of us pulled out. The lady Pamela physically threatened, and the woman who physically restrained Pamela. Here's some other good times the "park" offers:1. Not that we would ever use them, the showers cost $5.00 and you're asked to clean it for the next person. $5.00!2. The dump station has no running water and she wants $20 to dump. $20!3. All cans and bottles must be washed thoroughly and crushed before you put them in the garbage.4. The nice photos of the couches you see online are in the designated marijuana smoking area. And yes, I smelled that on her too!

The Black Bear RV park and resort is an awesome place! The rooms are nice and cozy and have a cabin vibe. Pamela who owns the resort is such a sweetheart and makes sure that everyone has what they need and is enjoying their stay. The property itself is beautiful with a hiking trail, meditation garden, dog park, hammocks, amazing Mountain views etc. I highly recommend staying here!!!

Needed to get away and we chose Black Bear again! This was our 3rd staying there we love watching the progress of the place grow! It gets better and better every time we come to visit! We love how Pamela the owner stays focused and keeps raising the bar for her place! Covid-19 has been extremely stressful so we just needed a safe place to get away to and unwind. Masks are optional except when you interact with the owner. Which we definitely respect. We are always greeted with a warm smile and a cup of hot cocoa! We miss the beautiful view and will definitely come back to show our support and enjoy this beautiful place!!!!

My wife and I stayed overnight in our RV and were very happy with the accommodations. Pamela is very attentive as owner and host and she has clearly put a ton of work renovating the park. Great job! The park has awesome views and is located in a perfect area for hiking, biking, fishing and star gazing. We plan on staying longer during our next trip.

My family and I had so much fun on our visit to Colorado! Our visit at Black Bear exceeded our expectations by far. Firstly Pam is an amazing owner and made sure our entire stay was comfortable and gave us ideas of places to take our kids to have fun. The rooms are so cute and had everything we needed. It is minutes from town and there are little general stores and restaurants close by. We absolutely love the sitting areas to enjoy the peaceful environment found myself just staring at the beautiful mountains and tranquility. We will absolutely be back again and only stay here. Our kids didn't want to leave!

Black Bear RV Park and Motel was AMAZING! I stayed there for 2 weeks and loved it so much I will recommend this park to everyone traveling in the area of Salida! It is so peaceful, serene and feels so comfortable to be there despite the Hwy 50 traffic! The owner Pamela and her people there that are helping her build up the campground are AWESOME VERY GOOD PEOPLE!! They were once strangers but now are good friends of mine! Pamela has put in long hard grueling work to build this place of comfort from the 6 year abandoned wreckage she bought...Her tenacity, integrity, and determination proves unstoppable! I love this place! I felt safe staying there, as a female traveling and working alone that is saying a lot! After an excruciating long hard day at work I looked forward to coming back to my temporary home! Pamela and her crew have a lot more plans for making improvements on her property that she is excited to create and then build! I cannot wait to see what will materialize in their future.... I will be back!
