I really love coming to this park. There's a lot of trails that you can walk around and it's really like an escape in the city to somewhat wilder place. My son and I like to come after we get his haircut over at Cookie Cutters and then we just walk the trails for a couple of hours, looking looking for birds. This last time we were pretty thrilled to see a grass snake and a turtle. Of course checking out the free Lakewood Heritage Center is always a highlight of our visits too.

I walk this park probably every day and am frequently surprised by what I am able to see in this suburban park. I've seen countless species of birds including snowy egret, great heron, a red-tailed hawk, cormorants, avocets, as well as turtles, lots of flowers and grasses. The spring is probably the best time to visit. There is also a heritage center on the park with old buildings from Lakewood's past as well as an old farmhouse and implements.

What a lovely park out in Lakewood. When I first arrived, I wasn't sure if it was a park or a residential area due to the home establishments. But I guess it's like a mini museum where those old buildings are kept for Lakewood history. There are a ton of different pathways to take. There is one pathway that circles around the pond and a pretty long pathway around the park. If you stop by, take a look at the buildings. If you look inside the windows, some of them are furnished. I was surprised to see that there was "food" inside the restaurant. Love the extra details like that. I can't believe it's my first time here. Will have to come again. My dog loves it here. And if you are a nerd like me, there are plenty of Poke stops and gyms. The pond helps bring in water Pokémon which is lovely. Because the park is quite long, it gives you plenty of time to walk around and hatch your eggs.

My dog is thirsty and as am I we just ran the whole park to find out their water fountains do not work at all. No idea who's in charge of that but it puts this park at a one star. I am now suffering and as is my dog. Not very cool and I keep seeing other people in the same situation as I stand here at the water fountain. Does Nestlé now run this park? I know the guy in charge said water is not a right which makes perfect sense at this park. I don't recommend this park to anyone who enjoys drinking water.

I enjoyed this park. I was first a little hesitate because I wasn't sure where the park began and the museum began. I guess they are all connectedI adore the residential houses that are part of the Lakewood history. The nerd in me wanted to read about every building but my dog had different plans. There are trails everywhere. It's long, paved, unpaved, full of weeds and dead trees, or the traditional grass. This park has a lot to offer. There are also trails for horses too. I enjoyed how the lake had small land areas in the middle of it so ducks and geese would crowd around there more than the walking ways. So yes there is geese poop on the sidewalks but not as much.

Belmar park is the crown jewel to the city of Lakewood. Right next to the Lakewood Heritage Center and Belmar Library. This park offers many different activities that anybody can enjoy year round. Many miles of trails that are bike, walker and even horse friendly. One trail leads you to a covered bridge type observation deck out on the lake where you can watch the local wildlife frolic and play in the water. This park offers a quiet and peaceful oasis within a bustling and thriving city where one can come to relax and reflect on the beauty of nature.

Historical buildings relocated to sit in the park - basically it's an outdoor museum. Great long trail for strollers and running. Lake is quite serene. Some shade available but not a ton.
