First off, I would like to say that I rarely ever write a negative review and make a point to write good ones. But I have never had a place care so little about their clients before even getting seen. I had extremely high hopes for Begginings Birth Center and made an annual exam appointment here to "test the waters", as we are considering getting pregnant soon. They were scheduled pretty far out (as expected with all the great reviews), but put me on a wait list and I was told to keep calling and checking and they would get me in as soon as a cancellation happened. Sure enough, I was able to get an appointment on Oct. 13th!The day before however, I received a text letting me know they had a midwife out sick and needed to reschedule my appointment, I was a bit bummed out since I was already past due for my exam and had already taken the time off, but understood that sometimes things like that happen. I let them know I had availability in the next week or two and she responded with "I am sorry but I do not have anything until MAY, but I can put you back on a wait list to see if there's any cancellations in the future". Wow. I would go out of business so fast if I bumped a client project deadline due to circumstances on my behalf and then said "ok, now you're back at the end of my list!" I could completely understand and would take it in stride if I was the one who cancelled, but YOU cancelled my appointment. When I called to ask them to explain this reasoning better I got a bunch of reasons that were basically the scheduler saying that she couldn't because it would make her job so much harder. That she "would have to call like 100 people to make my appointment sooner". I was stunned. Speechless.EVEN THEN, I said fine, put me on a wait list I guess. Hoping they could redeem themselves and make sure to make cancelling my appointment right. Called 2 months later and asked where I was at on the wait list, she tells me there's like 7 people ahead of me...so I ask out of curiosity because it couldn't get any worse right.... were all these people people you cancelled on as well or? She says it's a "MIXED BAG" with some people calling in just not wanting to wait (until JULY now)!!! I reiterate that I got my appointment cancelled with no fault of my own, and shouldn't I be on the top of the wait list in front of people who just called in and didn't want to wait? That if you really want to get technical, I was on a wait list BEFORE I was scheduled and cancelled, so doesn't that put me back on the wait list in the top position? Again, I get an excuse about how she would have to spend time researching the list to see who those people are and basically how I'd be making her job harder again.Needless to say, I would never trust that if I was to get pregnant and seek their care that I would be cared for at the level everyone else seems to have gotten here or that my appointments wouldn't get cancelled and not rescheduled before I had the baby! Definitely got the impression they couldn't care less and when I told a couple other providers about this they were truly stunned at that treatment.

I really Appreciate the level of genuine care the midwives provide here , however; if you end up choosing or needing to (medically) deliver elsewhere than the birthing center, please keep in mind in could be 7+ months minimum before you receive any portion of your payment in full, (for prenatal and delivery care), back . I paid in full before 36 weeks, transferred care to OBGYN by 36 weeks 1 day, and my baby is 6 months old, and I have yet to receive a dime back. Obviously , it would take a few months, but 7 months after transferring care,I have requested updates several times , to which I am told they have none . This to me, is not the most proactive or ethical way to run a center , if someone chooses or needs to transfer care and you provide them no money back , when they did not deliver there.

I do not review places, but I will today. My wife had our second baby (2nd home birth) with the assistance of beginnings birth center. Before birth: Talking with the two main ladies who seemed to know what they were talking about were helpful and easy to talk with. The others were so so, standoffish and seemed to be guessing, overall friendly for the most part. Birth: they missed it. After multiple calls, it seemed as if they did not believe us. Call back when this or that and don't go in the pool yet for the water birth. By the time the young lady was en route, my wife gave birth to our baby boy on our bed with me helping. After birth: When she did get to the house, I felt I was more confident than she was about what needed to happen next. (My only experience was our first baby, some friends having babies, and livestock.) She cut the cord and pushed on my wife's belly to be sure everything was out (definitely do not think everything was out) Wife was pale, dizzy and light headed I suggested she stay till she felt better like the first one. Instead of moving, then. She helped clean a little, but we had things set up, so we had it taken care of. More placenta came out after she left, along with big blood clots. She had big blood clots for years after. also had like second bleeding after periods for years after. No pleasure down there since. Not sure what, how or why the last four things happened when everything was "cleared out and good" but after the birth talking to them on post birth meetings was everything is good and all is normal. For the post partum depression stuff that lasted two years, they just recommended some app (i don't recall the name at this current time...BILLING: Another issue, we were told one price, but as this whole experience went on, we were getting charged more for things we already took care of... Then we moved. Before we moved, my wife talked to them and was told we are all good and up to date and paid up (no bills). My wife usually gets the notice of bills if not paid for up front. Now, FOUR YEARS LATER (4), I am getting emails about a bill to my email. Their contact this entire time is my wife until recently. Many phone calls and voice mails, no response. Finally get a hold of someone a month later (me calling) and apparently they updated their system and there was a bill that they supposedly never gave us that I need to pay after we where cleared before we moved states. Would pay if we could see the evidence and they removed their bs service fee (service is not to good if there is billing discrepancies while we where there and now 4 years later)Talked to the Lab Corp people also said we where all paid up. They said they paid, so we looked into that with the invoice number date and account number given off of their receipt from Lab Corp records, and also no match.

My prenatal care was overall good. I have some preexisting health issues that heightened my chance for a fast and early birth. The midwives failed to believe me when I was in labor and told me to not come in yet. Despite their advice I went in anyway and was already 8cm dilated and delivered about 2 hours later. During birth I was called by the wrong name multiple times further confirming they don't really pay attention to who you are or your health history. They mixed up my child's cord blood with another babies which resulted in me receiving rhoGAM when it was unneeded. They tried to cover this up until we had our child's blood tested and it in fact was not what they told us it was. Probably going with a home birth next time.

After two hospital deliveries and one at home, I had my fourth baby with the midwives at Beginnings. This was my favorite birth by far. I was looking for something more evidence based and traditional than the hospital care I've had in the past but more structured than the home birth I had with a single midwife. The team based approach they take at the center hits exactly the right blend. My experience was natural, cozy, and personal, while still feeling incredibly safe, as no decision is based on the sole discretion of a single individual. My favorite parts were having choices at every turn and getting to go home and sleep in my own bed the night baby was born. Overall, the team informed, helped, respected and TRUSTED me. If I could, I would go back and tell myself to have all my babies here, so I'm taking the opportunity to tell you instead. You won't regret it.

I transferred care due a poor patient experience. It's a beautiful building, but as a fellow health care provider I do have a basic standard of patient care for considering the patient first and treating them as an individual. Appointments were difficult to book around a part-time work schedule. The front desk was not very warm and requests for an individual experience to the providers were denied with a bureaucratic response without considering me as a unique person. This would a good experience if you're flexible with appointments, willing to abide by their exact requirements and ready for some out of pocket costs.

I do not recommend this practice at all. The midwives lack of knowledge of anything but exactly what is normal was extremely concerning as a fellow medical professional. I tried to ask questions in regards to previous pregnancies and concerns and the midwives were always clueless in anything but your basic OB knowledge. Throughout my pregnancy I was having to do my own research and go out of my way to get appropriate testing done etc. on my own. At 10 weeks I asked for an ultrasound because I had concerns. An ultrasound was completed and I felt very uncomfortable because a heartbeat and movement was never visualized, even though the midwife told me "everything looks ok". A week later I requested an ultrasound and the baby's heartbeat had stopped 2 weeks prior and the midwife failed to see that the heartbeat had already stopped. This is borderline malpractice. After I miscarried, they withheld my results from me unless I came in and paid for an appointment. I needed bloodwork done, and refused to help me unless it benefited them. Overall. if you're looking to have a more natural birth, Id recommend a home birth.

The pregnant staff member today was rude and disrespectful when demanding I get off their patio while I was on my lunch outside. I hope the expecting clients get treated better than I did as just a passerby. If I was a pregnant woman receiving her care and been on this situation, I would of most definitely exchanged words with how to treat people in the work place. Compassion shows at all levels and I would not recommend or receive her care if my life depended on it. I would give zero stars if I could because I was so disgusted with her coping skills. She does not seem to handle situations with individuals well and I could not imagine what it would be like in a high stress one.

We had a beautiful experience at the birth center! The prenatal care is superb, the birthing suites are beautiful and comfortable, and all of the staff are wonderful. You can tell everyone here is passionate about what they do. I recommend this place to every woman I know!
