All in all, this is a pleasant campground. It's not for folks who seek the resort style campgrounds. It's a very rustic, wide open spaces, surrounded by mountain ranges kind of campground. Check-in was as expected. I received a text and an email confirmation the day before and day of with site details and codes so we just pulled right in. Campground is nicely marked with signs to get to your site, no problem. They boast huge sites on their website and I kid you not, the sites are indeed wide and large. The spaces are also angled nicely so that you're staggered with your neighbors and not lined up right next to them. Sites 1-6 have the best views of the mountain ranges (in my opinion)Full hook-ups worked great. The laundry facility was very clean and we didn't use the showers, but they looked equally clean. Only con, imo, is it's close to highway 160. Not too noisy like a freeway would be, but you can hear cars driving by during the day.

We were tent campers for two nights, wanted to be near Great Sand Dunes. This isn't right by the dunes, but pretty close, and it's handy being closer to Alamosa, where you can buy whatever you would need. Beautiful views all around. Plus, bathrooms. It was windy the first day and I'm glad we were already familiar with our tent setup or we would've had a kite instead of a tent! We parked the car very close to our tent entrance for a wind break and shade. The 2nd day, wind wasn't an issue. Picnic table. Yay for 4 spacious gender-neutral locked bathrooms where you have a toilet, sink and shower. Coin-operated washer/dryer. Ice & firewood available from the camp host.

This was a fantastic campground to stay in while visiting Great Sand Dunes NP. The spots are spacious, easy to navigate, have nice picnic tables and fire pits, and beautiful scenario. The bathrooms were clean and you had your own private room with shower and toilet. The camp host were super friendly and helped load our two bundles of firewood in our truck. We loved the more rustic vibe, it feels like you are in the wilderness but yet right off the road. We would definitely recommend staying here on your visit and would for sure come back!

We stayed at Base Camp Family RV Park on 5/31/2021 in site 11 on our way up to Lake City, Co, and then again on our way back home to Texas in site 1 on 6/17/2021. The sites are level, clean, very very large, plenty of room for both travel trailer and truck. Each site has a picnic table. They are pet friendly, easy access from the highway, full sun (no trees to speak of), and all sand/gravel. We had no trouble at all with the water, sewer, or electricity working. Our rate of $46.12 included a Good Sam discount. We were very impressed that it appeared everyone cleaned up after their dogs, as they should be. That was so nice, as we've been in parks where this just wasn't the case and it's gross. I couldn't find an office or store, but there is a sign showing where the camp hosts park. All communication and payments are contactless. The laundry/bathhouse looked beautiful inside although we didn't use them. The only bad thing we experienced was a dog barking all night long the first night we were there. It was cool enough to have windows open, and it appeared that the dog was not on RV park property. We think it was a dog at the house adjacent to the property. Same dog barked part of the time at our second time to stay there on 6/07/21, but our windows were closed with A/C running that night, so we didn't hear it as bad.

Manager was wretched. Cancelled in advance and would not refund me my money after I was told that I would not be charged anything for advance cancelations. They even told me that I would be credited when I complained about this then went back on their word. Beware.

Stayed in October. Very long pull-through site so we stayed hooked up to our tow. Friendly staff that I spoke to over the phone. No on-site office but there is a host. Site info is emailed to you beforehand. Right on the highway. Close to Great Sand Dunes NP which was cool. Site was FULL of dog poop. Looked like it had been there a while and there was so much it was impossible to not step in it. I was super annoyed to have to pick it up. Our power went out in the evening... just our site from the looks of it. I just went and turned it off and on again. It worked fine the rest of the night. We were in a 50AMP and only watching TV at that time so I have no idea what caused that. Probably wouldn't stay here again.

We stayed here one night. Sounds líke the couple who own the place just opened it. They did a good job mapping the campgrounds out. The owners were very friendly. The grounds are clean. The showers were simple and clean with hot water. The water pressure was a little low but the best shower I've had in a few days. I'd stay again. Great stargazing.
