I've been there just one time, but I'm already planning a return visit. The trail up to Barr Camp is absolutely beautiful. It's well marked and easy to follow. Along the way, you'll be treated to some of the most amazing views in the area. You will also be tested. It's definitely doable, but also a challenge. When you get to Barr Camp, you'll be amazed at the wonderful setup and welcoming atmosphere. It's no 5-star resort. It's pretty rustic. But I feel like most everyone you meet at the Camp will have an interesting story. And at the end of the long hike up (or down from the summit), you'll certainly be ready for a comfortable place to get some food and a place to relax. If you're planning to stay overnight, make sure you have a reservation. They'll take good care of you, but you have to let em know you're coming.

We did the Manitou Incline at Sunrise then decide to continue to Barr Camp since we had plenty of time left in the morning. This was our first time doing a hike this long at such a high altitude. The path was clear and the weather was perfect. Around 60 degrees but would change periodically. The view's were amazing and the terrain changed from dry to wet and then we also saw snow. Rocky to soft ground to gravel. You experience everything. Some spots were tough because of the altitude but we did it. The Camp area is pretty clean and the cabin is pretty. The couple there were awesome. They offered us pancakes that were delicious. We bought a few shirts and talked for a minute. We also meet the big Chipmunk. FYI he loves unsalted almonds. We plan on doing this trip again and staying the night with hopes of continuing to the summit. I definitely recommend hiking to Barr Camp. If you.think you have it then add the Incline as an added bonus. It's tough but worth it.

An absolute must-do experience! We reserved the main cabin so we needn't have carried our sleeping bags (would've saved us some weight). Lots of people that you meet and hang out with...the cabin has a little seating area with books, board games, a guitar, hot chocolate/coffee/tea and they serve the most delicious spaghetti ever! Sleep was pretty comfortable on the mattresses. It is hostel style so there will be other parties sleeping with you. We only had 9 people and the cabin can host up to 17 I think. So we had lots of room. The "necessary rooms" are very clean and stocked with toilet paper. Get torches or headlights for the night. Water source needs a filtration system. 100% recommend this!!

The folks at Barr Camp make it a special place. I stopped there when I was caught in a downpour on my way down from the peak. The campsite hosts (I can't recall their names- tall gentleman with a beard and long hair and a woman with dark hair) are absolutely fantastic. They gave me warm chicken broth and a blanket when I was cold, and even offered me a dry shirt. They were concerned for the welfare of all who stopped by during the downpour, and made sure everyone was safe. The people who stopped by were extremely friendly as well, and made easy conversation with one another. This place is a gem, and I hope it never changes. I will stop by here anytime I am on the nearby trails from now on.
