Jul 30, 2022
July brings the Arapahoe County Fair. Lots of food trucks, vendors, animals, crafts, competitions and exhibitions. Paying online saves a few bucks and standing in line. Parking included in admission this year which is nice. Some rides too which is even better as I only like the Ferris wheel so I don't want to pay for other things. Food prices are high and food is average depending on what you get. Not a turkey leg person so we had a cheeseburger and hot dog. Curly ribbon fries too - I love these but at $15 it's a bit much. You can bring your own food and drinks which is nice.Drink plenty of water if you come during the day like we did. It was hot. The porta potties were lovely in the beginning and not too bad still afterwards. We went during the first day when everything was still fresh. Petted some barn animals and you can feed them. Tried my hand at golfing on little golf greens. Took in a dog jumping competition which was cool. Bought some habanero hot sauce from a local farm and 'panned for gems.' Inside the buildings are the award winning animals. Rabbits, hogs - so well cared for. Also had tables with information on various topics. I learned a lot about plants bees like and how our sewer systems work. They had a roping practice section, therapy animals, bee merchandise and a stage where fun activities were being held. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I'm like a child, so of course I had to take photos with the inflatable pink pig and dog poop. I would have stayed longer but his patience was done. The heat didn't help. They have shaded areas to sit under but walking around you get a lot of sun. And inside the buildings I was still sweating. But so fun! Can't wait for next year to do it again.
