In what world does a family of 2 adults 1 3 year old and a dog need to book to rooms to be up to "fire code"this place is rude and makes money off of cancelations. recommend booking somewhere else.

I don't know who checked-in all these other guests, but it definitely wasn't the wicked unfriendly one we encountered. After a beautiful day hiking in the San Juan National Forest, we were ready to find our Airbnb motel in Salida.We pulled up to the window of this bright cute place and tell the clerk how neat the drive thru window is, and all's she's says is "what's your name"? I told them and they say "we don't have a reservation". I asked if they would like my res # and they refused to take it. They asked me for my last name 3x and I said I only have one last name, how many do you have? I asked to show them my Airbnb res, but I don't have any Wi-Fi in this spot, can I have the PW? They said "no, I'm not a guest"! My husband is getting livid, so I had to calm him down and nicely asked where I can get Wi-Fi to give them more of my res details. They said there isn't a place, so I asked where the library is, and they said about 2 miles and pointed. We left and pulled into the hotel across the street and they gave us Wi-Fi to screenshot my Airbnb res. then we returned, and they refused to look at it - UNREAL!The lot has 3 cars in it besides ours -how confused can they be? Meanwhile, I'm obviously getting mad and they tell us they don't think they want us to stay here in our already paid for room through Airbnb.They call the manager, whom never showed -come to find out they needed my full name with middle name. OMGosh really!?! You seriously couldn't find my res b/c of me not telling you my middle name? Why didn't they ask for my middle name or ID if that's what was needed along with the documents I tried to present? What an ugly personality to be in the hospitality business. Look at the rules and regulations, it's enough to keep you on eggshells. INSANE!Cute room, but not entirely functional with a very firm bed #18. We couldn't possibly return or recommend due to the attitude of the chubby clerk with long black hair.To the cowardly management that wouldn't come up front,Go ahead and struggle to defend yourself below.

We've now stayed here a couple of times. We like it. The rooms are small, but you didn't visit Salida to stay inside, right?It's a quick drive to downtown, and right across the highway from one of the best fly shops around. The room is small, but clean, well appointed and comfortable. For a quick stay, American Classic In is perfect!

We booked this hotel on AirBNB after our other AirBNB cancelled our reservation at the last minute.Check in and Check out were easy. The room was clean and modern. Everything in the room worked.Honestly, I see the people had issues, but my daughter and I didn't have any issues. I would consider staying her again if I'm in the area again.

Don't stay here. I saw reviews and photos of this place and recommended my sister and her family stay here for their visit. They apparently have a strict 2 person limit on each room which is fine if it had been posted on the website or talked about during check in instead of yelled at their guests. My sister's family of 4 booked two rooms to accommodate everyone. When I came to pick my sister up the manager came and verbally assaulted us about having a "fifth guest". I didn't stay there. I simply came to pick her up when the rest of the family was leaving for Durango. The manager was way out of line and ridiculous. She mentioned that there was too much "coming and going" and that was an issue. You run a motel. Families on vacation stay here. People come and go, its the very nature of your business. When her husband left for errands the office immediately called to "make sure he didnt leave with the key" it was 2 hours before checkout, a person is allowed to go and return in that time frame, WTF...They booked two rooms and went back and forth but not loudly or in any way disruptive. The fridge, bathroom fan, and bathroom sink were broken or working poorly and this was reported BEFORE the "manager" came with her tirade of ridiculous rude accusations. Then the owner called to accuse my sister of "retaliating". No. Absolutely not. So insulting and rude and I'm embarrassed for having recommended this place to begin with. We are blown away by the utter lack of decency exhibited here. I will never reccommend that anyone stay here and will proactively discourage anyone I know from staying here. If you value being treated like a human being DO NOT STAY HERE

Wow... where do I start? This was our second visit to this motel to enjoy the cute town of Salida. We went as far as booking three rooms for friends and family because of our recommendation. BIG MISTAKE!We blocked of three rooms, a family room, a double room and a pet friendly double room. In which we intended to put our new puppy and my sister in laws puppy in the pet friendly room with Grandma and my Niece. Upon us arriving for our family room, we had our dog in the car. Again we intended to leave the dog in the pet friendly room. When checking in they asked if we needed to register any pets to the room, I replied no as we weren't going to have our dog in the room. within seconds of running my card for two nights they informed me we can't stay because of the dog. We tried to explain the situation but ran into the owner. This is where everything hit the fan and we realized we were being profiled. He told us quote " I don't appreciate people like you coming and staying at my hotel, I'm the owner and you guys are going to go in there and trash it like you do your own home"I replied excuse me? People like us?In which he replied, "yes, young trashy people like you two"Wow, I am 35 years old and so is my wife. We have five kids in which we traveled with three. I own a business, my wife owns a business. We are from from young punk partiers. Also, we are traveling in total with 6 kids 2 adults over 35 2 adults over 40 and my mother in law who is in her sixties.He wouldn't refund my money because we blocked the day, but funny how he new he was going to kick us out before running the card. Again it was, run the card, sign here, you can't stay here. Mind you we drove 4 hours with our kids.He then had the balls to call the cops on me when he was profiling and yelling at my wife and I.I will never recommend this to anyone. I'm part of a large fishing community and had already recommended it to a few fishing buddies.I couldn't get the owners name, scrawny guy that just yells I'm the owner and has Napoleon syndrome.ZERO STARS. And a big middle finger to the owner.

I was so excited to stay here. I loved the idea of rejuvenating motor inns. This one was a little strict with their check in policy. After reservations they send an email detailing the check in and out policies as well as having no one else onto the property. Felt a little over the top but I went with it. Upon checking in I had to sign a paper acknowledging all of the rules. Room was clean and cute and all seemed fine for my 5 day stay visiting friends. The problem arose the next morning when after drying off from a shower I discovered the towel had what looked like a burnt spot. I was a bit grossed out but thought I would just walk across to house keeping, bring it to their attention and get a new towel. The whole interaction went sideways so fast I was kinda dumbstruck. I was accused of doing that to the towel and it was clearly my fault because I used the towel. I was honestly flabbergasted by the exchange. I said well I did not and I don't see how I can stay here so I would like a credit for the balance of my stay and I would be checking out. I was told that I could not have a credit because the five days were already blocked out and I was accused of not being able to afford being there. It was really bizarre. So I packed up my stuff and was getting ready to leave when the guy came out and said he would give me a credit for the balance of my stay if I was off the property by 10 am. It was 9:54 so I thanked him and was on my way. I really just wanted a clean towel and am still mystified as to how it went so badly so quickly. I can not in good conscience suggest that anyone stays here.

Horrible experience. I don't even know how this motel is still in business. At 10:06 we got a phone call that said we needed to leave or come to the office. I finished my shower and then at 10:15 someone came and pounded on the door! I went down to the office at 10:29 and the skinny weak little soy boy dude comes out and says "I need you to sign this". I look and it's another receipt for a room charge!! $176!! I told him I'm not signing anything and he said "if you don't sign I'm going to call the cops"! WHAT?! I told him again I'm not signing. He then started dropping F bombs and cursing. I had some choice words as well. We hopped in the truck and as we were leaving the blonde chick was on the phone, presumably with the police. Worst customer service ever. Ever. Go to The Woodland instead! They're wonderful there! We've been there probably 50 times.

Can I give negative stars to warn you to stay away? Rudest Management I Have Ever ExperiencedNice looking motel, and clean, but customer service was horrible. They gave me the room closest to the noisy highway, so I asked for one further back - though the motel looked to be less than half full, only moved me 2 doors down.But the real kicker is their checkout policy enforcement - they want you out by 10 a.m. and not one minute late. I had the motel door open, and was packing my last bag when they called at 10:05 to ask when I was going to be out. I said "Just packing my last bag" to reassure them I was on the way out, and the very harsh response was "You need to be out in 10 minutes or we're charging you for another night".Then 2 people show up at the door, 2 minutes later and get flat out rude "You need to be off this property!"Just the kind of confrontation you need when trying to recover from a long road trip (and the effects of Colorado altitude on a flatlander). Stay away unless you like dealing with people who seem to enjoy being rude.
