Almont Resort & Restaurant

I was negligent and got severe altitude sickness and was getting close to passing out. I stopped at the first place I could find to get refreshments to try and restore myself. I stumbled into the Almont restaurant and explained everything to the bartender. He not only gave me all the water I needed, but shared his electrolyte drink mix with me, which made a huge difference, and even made my tasty green chile queso nachos on the house just because he wanted to help me out. I wanted to give my business in thanks, so I also ordered the Reuben sandwich, which was very good as well. With the great, kind service, I gave the biggest tip of my life compared to the cost of services. The place also looks very nice, and when I was there in the afternoon was very quiet and laid back. I'll always be grateful to that bartender!

Great food and service. We were staying up the road and this was east to get to. Great ambience.

I've been here before and was a 5 star experience. Today, however it was a terrible experience. The server was unable to understand our orders. Ie we asked for hash browns well done ( which came with the entree) She brought 2 extra orders of hash browns. And charged for them to o. The coffee was truly undrinkable. One of my dining companions asked to taste mine ... his was the same. He said tasted like brewed old cigarettes. When a server came to see if I needed more coffee, I said yes please bring me a fresh cup. She took my nearly full cup to the kitchen and brought back the SAME cup of coffee just more full. I knew this cause original Cup had cream in it as did the replacement. We had to chase the server down to get a check. It was a terrible and expensive experience. So disappointing.

Had a really great breakfast on our way out of Crested Butte. Honestly enjoyed it way more than any breakfast we had in Crested Butte. Good chicken fried steak and a large well cooked McMuffin. Wonderful staff.

Ate dinner on Friday, returned on Sunday. Excellent food drinks service and vibe with other guests.

We went to dinner here Saturday night and my Husband ordered the Colorado Bison Burger, which they ran out of Bison! So he got a all beef burger cooked to medium well (which was raw, cold & bloody) the waiter took it back and had another one cooked again to medium well it was also raw! (It was actually more raw)!!! My 3 kids and I also had burgers, none were great! 1 was even burned (like a hockey puck). Our waiter, Kyle was not great either. ****Update**** 1 month later, we were staying at the Almont cabins and REALLY didn't want to drive anymore (exhausted!) so we just went over for "Happy Hour" appetizers, (Nachos & Chicken wings) and it was good!! It was a Tuesday night, so it was much slower! But our waitress, Karrie was amazing!!!

Stopped for breakfast on a Saturday. Place was empty, service was prompt, and the coffee and huevos rancheros were good!I was going for the chicken fried steak and eggs, but was shocked that the price had risen to $32!!?? Passed on that. Bill came, and a service charge was added (6%). What is that? Overall, not bad, but I won't be back.

Cute place on the river. Good drinks. The food was ok. There are not any healthy choices: most of the meals are fried and high in fat. If you are a healthy eater, it may cause some stomach distress.Green policy needs improvement.

Awful place, don't go there thinking you will get a drink. Awful place, completely rude. They are technically 'open' but we stood there for 20 minutes and no one would help us. We even got a girls attention and she said yes we're open and nothing. Cannot think of anyplace worse I have been too in my life. I guess because we are not from Almont, they would not serve us a beer. We thought it would be like other small town bars and they would be nice. The people were absolutely rude. Will never walk in there again.

i can't rate the food as we got no service. walked out after 10 minute wait. only 1 other table in the restaurant so they were not busy!The restaurant has recently changed hands and has gone directly downhill as a result. The owner relies on new help W/O ever checking on them. it's sad because, as a long time resident, it used to be my place to go. never again. Good luck Walter
