We loved this place! It's a fancy restaurant and bar in historic downtown Cañon City. This place has all the historic and rich vibes. This place has good food, mood lighting, rich decorating and friendly service. The cocktails, brownie skillet dessert, and sides were my favorite.

A bit sad that things appeared to be not up to par. We were patient, but I saw other people who seemed to have troubles. It did take awhile for drinks and food to come out, but we were just enjoying each other's company and the atmosphere, so despite the apologies we were just fine. However, it was almost like they ran out of things. My first drink came out half full. I wouldn't have noticed it I hadn't gotten another. I also ordered olives in my martini. Normally, that is a green olive, which I did get in the first half drink, but I got a black olive in my second drink. It was not pleasant. My husband and I both ordered a side salad. He really liked his dressing, the ranch dressing. He said it was very think and creamy. My dressing, blue cheese, was like water and had almost zero taste. Odd since blue cheese can curl your hair. We both ordered a filet for dinner. It comes with mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was really delicious. My husband really likes bourbon peppercorn sauce, to the point that I've made it for him and he typically orders it with filet when it's offered. Our waitress said it doesn't look like it, but it is the bourbon peppercorn sauce. However, I have never seen white bourbon peppercorn sauce. Based on all their troubles tonight and the fact that it had not been white before, I suspect they didn't have or didn't add an ingredient. Then we ordered dessert. I had the flourless chocolate torte and it was so amazing. My husband ordered the brownie with ice cream and decided on the cherries and candied walnuts add on. Thankfully, they didn't charge for the full add on. My husband said there were 3 cherries and no candied walnuts. He was a bit disappointed, but felt better after he realized we were charged an extra $1 rather than an extra $4 for the add on. Also, it's huge! So if you have someone to share it with or you have a big appetite, great! If not I wouldn't do it. Our waitress was nice, but I think she was exasperated and overly busy. It has to be hard to have to keep apologizing to customers. We weren't offered pepper, which is a pro for just putting salt and pepper on the tables, nor were informed of any specials. Maybe they don't have specials, but the soup of the day wasn't given, which is a special. Despite all my above complaints, we really enjoyed ourselves. If you aren't sure whether to go, do go. The atmosphere is really beautiful, the food is very good, and the service is stellar. Just not sure I'd go on another holiday, as they don't seem to be prepared enough to handle it.

I really enjoyed this restaurant in the St. Cloud Hotel. My husband and I chose to come here to celebrate our wedding anniversary, so I did book a reservation and indicated it was a special occasion. However, I am not sure a reservation was actually needed as there were plenty of tables open, but if it is an important night just go for the sure thing and book it. The place is beautiful, open and full of regional history. They tell you to seat yourself, which while nice is a bit well low rent in my opinion as we then had to wander around to find a table that worked for us that was set for two. I just thought is was a bit odd. I am going to be honest, even if the restaurant does not offer any special occasion free-bees (like dessert), generally they ask up front if it is a special occasion and alert the waiter and wish you happy whatever. Again, a miss to me for such an expensive place. Now, the waiter was very prompt and pretty attentive. He didn't really explain anything and he didn't chit chat, he was more there to execute orders and get drinks - which he did well. We started the calamari and were pleasantly surprised it also included a few fried green beans - which were wonderful. The calamari was crispy and the dip was light and lemony - very good. For entrees, we went for steak (ribeye) and prime rib. I was not terribly happy that the steaks and prime rib had set sides (asparagus and mashed potatoes), mostly because asparagus is neither of our favorite veggies. You can added more sides, but I would just prefer to pick my own from the start or just have the entree priced out and buy whatever sides I want, but it was fine (just another little thing that I thought could be better). My hubby is a well done steak eater and he was happy with his meat (which is a hard thing) and he loved the peppercorn sauce. I thought the prime rib was wonderful, especially the herb encrusted edge. Loved the rich au jus, but wish the creamy horseradish was actually just raw horseradish - but I might be in the minority. Truly, both dishes were executed well and tasty. As the waiter brought the check he asked if we were there on a special occasion. He did wish us happy anniversary and asked if we would like any dessert, we declined and he said what if it was free and we still declined, but it was sort of a nice, but odd exchange. We will definelty go back. It was a nice place and now that I know what to expect I will probably like it better the second time round.

Loved everything about this place! Had an amazing perfectly prepared steak dinner, served by friendly staff in the expertly restored 1887 restaurant, we also had before dinner drinks in the lobby bar and finished up the night in their secret War Room bar.

Awesome ambiance and service. The food was delicious. We both got the pork belly and it was wonderful. I'm not a big fan of sweet entrees but this one was very good. Overall good food, good cocktails and good service. I would definitely go back.

Stopped by for a late lunch. The food was good, service was excellent and the atmosphere was wonderful. Afterwards we were shown the WarRoom (speakeasyoff the back of 1887). There I enjoyed a Vino Verde& my husband a Pappy Van Winkle 12 year. Will be going back to have dinner and a drink.

Tried the 1887 eatery and had an amazing experience in the war room and dining area. Just wasn't impressed with their sides on fries and brussel sprouts. They were both under cooked and didn't taste as good as the steaks and firecracker shrimp. All in all a pleasant experience.

A beautiful setting for Mother's Day Brunch, but the service was slow and the food was inconsistent. Had the Eggs Benedict and one egg had a nice runny, yolk, the other egg was cooked hard. Another person at my table had a nice amount of Hollandaise, however there was barely any on mine. The breakfast potatoes were colorful, but dry, rubbery and flavorless.
