Cocina de barrio is such a beautiful place and I am glad we stopped by for brunch here. The service was friendly and staff was very kind to our kids.I ordered the chilaquiles with nopale and it was pretty good. I had to ask for some hot sauce and was given this amazing homemade hot salsa.. i wish i can bottle it and take it home.. my friend ordered creme brulee french toast which she rated as amazing.. the orange cream it came with was soo yum!the kids enjoyed a veggie omlette.. will definitely be back when in town.

For the price of everything... not worth it.Drinks were VERY watered down.I also got a michelada (not pictured) and they put so much ice i didn't have room to add my beer, then by the time i got an extra glass it got watered down. The Paloma was aesthetically pleasing... but looks can be deceiving... bitter and too much juice.Quesadillas were dry and bland Chilaquiles were good the first half but I was also super hungry... so as I ate more the taste started dissipating... plus they put too much sauce so they got all soggy and drenched. The service was ok.The tamarindo candy for the michelada was fire and the chili oil hot sauce was also good and spicy. The ambiance was very clean and welcoming.

The server was nice, but they did serve my boyfriend expired orange juice. And their cafe de olla was not sweet and traditional at all. The sopes were good, but the egg was more hard boiled than anything. 8/10My boyfriend got the chilaquiles were good 10/10 Overall is it expensive for what is it.

We have came to this establishment a few times before, but have NEVER had the outstanding service we received today. Jonathan our server was not only exceptional, but he was very engaging with us. We shared some friendly banter about the dodgers and giants. Aside from the food being mouth watering delicious, the drinks took the cake. They're aesthetically pleasing along with the ambiance. Truly felt so welcomed here. Some lady who I believed was the manager also visited our table and asked how we were doing. I rarely ever leave reviews but today's visit needed to be shared in order for people to understand customer service is EVERYTHING. If you ever visit this place, ask for Jonathan, and wear your dodger blue! #GoDodgers

This was my first time there and I've been recommending it to everyone since then! The service was excellent, the entire staff was SO attentive the entire time I was there. The food came out quick but was incredibly flavorful. I will definitely be returning. Felt like the perfect place for a large family gathering but also a great place to get together with a friend. One of the best Mexican breakfasts I've ever had!!

Super fun late brunch here! I needed to meet a friend for a late lunch in the Midway area. I'd just been to the Cocina de Barrio in Encinitas and thought it was yummy and very vegetarian-friendly... and then Yelp showed me that there was another location of Cocina de Barrio (a fab restaurant with 3 locations) just out of the Midway and into Pt. Loma. Now...the Midway can be sketchy for brunch and is full of fast-food restaurants. So a creative Mexican cocktail bar/vegan-friendly Mexican restaurant (with easy parking!) in this area is a godsend. The decor inside is really cute - but I'm a patio girl in these times. My friend and I were the only ones who sat on the patio... but Alberto took excellent care of us! You know when you're the only one outside, and they forget about you? Alberto kept coming out to make sure we were good, to see if we needed refills, etc.Onto the food! If you go before 3 pm, you can order from the brunch menu - then it switches to dinner. They have more traditional Mexican dishes like Huevos Rancheros - OR brunchy things like coconut french toast or veggie scrambles - OR you can get Emoladas, Enselada de Barrio, Sopes Benny or a Vegan Coconut Aguachile. You get the picture: lots of CHOICES at brunchtime!I got the MAZAPAN PANCAKES after I saw so much love for them from other yelpers. $15.95, one of the better deals... AND you can add on 2 eggs + bacon for another $3.95. Don't eat bacon? No importo! You can either get 3 eggs... OR 2 eggs plus potatoes. Did I mention the potatoes are yummy? So that was an ocean of food for $20, in a chill setting, with great service. (& the food came out really fast). My meat-eating friend got the Huevos Rancheros, which includes lamb birria, and she thought the birria was *delicious*.Because it was daytime and I had to brave Friday rush hour freeways, I didn't get a cocktail - but I found that their coffee is yummy. Also, Alberto was awesome - I'm giving him a second shoutout because we felt really cared for even though we were the only folks on the patio.Great to know this is here - now I've been to two locations. Que viva Cucina de Barrio!

Came here on cinco de mayo with a friend for $5 margaritas. They didn't disappoint. I had a strawberry, mango and Tamarindo margarita. Delish! We even had cafe de olla. They said they only have it during breakfast but made us some! That was nice! Plenty of parking. Friendly servers. Not crowded. Would go back
