Ugh not good not fresh and expired items in shelfs. Went once and never again it's sad how they have " chicken shawarma" which tasted very un - authentic . Might as well call it simple chicken sandwich and no sauce

I ordered mashawi - grilled skewers (kofta, chicken and kabob). The kofta tasted like there was lamb in it mixed with beef and it was not cooked. I had to put it in the oven for 20 min when I got home. When it finished cooking I couldn't even eat it because it was just bad - it was too soft and smelled. The chicken was okay but I have tasted better- definitely needed more spices. The kabob I think is probably the better tasting out of the three; however, it needed salt. I also had to cook the kabob for another 10 min - it was cooked but it just needed a little more. I was given shatta (hot sauce), tahini sauce, and garlic sauce. The garlic sauce had an overwhelmingly amount of garlic in it- need to cut back. The tahini tasted rotten? I don't know if yogurt was put in it or what exactly but something in it had an odd taste. I had some vegetables grilled - onions, jalapeños, and tomatoes - all tasted good but the onions needed to be grilled more. I had humus for the side- which apparently I was charged for it an extra $5 when I should have gotten a free side. I'm not sure why I was charged for it when I ordered the platter for 3 people. Total should have been $25 but I was charged $30. I got 2 chicken, 3 kafta, 3 kabob and side of fries. Overall, it was very average mashawi and you can get better for the same price at Ya hala bakery. I thought the price was good but when I saw the amount put on each skewer, it was definitely not worth it. I will be back for the shopping area but probably not for the food. There is a lot of varieties in the food items they sell that is different than ya hala bakery and Zaituna store.
