Village Inn Chicken

Every now and then I get a hankering for some fried chicken, which then usually warrants a trip to Amish Country. This time the hankering hit and I remembered that a good friend used to always talk about going to the Village Inn for chicken, so I decided to check it out. The restaurant itself is kind of a run down mid-century American building with a very "flyover country" vibe. I ordered the "White Lunch Special" featuring a breast, a wing, and a drumette with hot sauce, Cole slaw, and green beans as my sides. The service is kind of slow but being run by a few older ladies it was what one could expect. The chicken was OK. I wasn't a fan of the breading which seemed kind of thin, but the chicken itself tasted good and was moist. I really enjoyed the fEastern European flavor profile on the hot sauce and the sweet vinegar Cole slaw was excellent, but in retrospect, probably a lot of sugar. The green beans were typical canned green beans. This place won't dislodge Amish country from my choice, but it was a perfectly acceptable meal, although I don't think I will be making it a regular stop.

It was solid. The chicken, coleslaw, hot sauce, and fries were on POINT. Generous portions. Chicken was perfect- crispy on the outside and just the right flavor. Hot sauce was just perfect. Sometimes it's too spicy and sometimes too bland, but this time it was JUST RIGHT! Service was pretty slow, although to be fair our server did bring out the children's meal for my three year old a little earlier. Even the hot dog he ordered was delicious. I hadn't been here in awhile and I hadn't remembered there being a soft-serve ice cream machine. He loved that too. We were there on a Friday night, so it was a little busy. I would love to come back here for this amazing food, but I would probably instead come on a less-busy weeknight.

My wife and I had the 2- piece chicken snack. The chicken pieces were quite small and dry. I also found the hot sauce to be thick and tasted somewhat like ketchup. Had not been there the last 5 years and the place looked exactly the same. Service was good and the complimentary ice cream was much appreciated. We may have hit them on a bad night and will give them another chance in the future.

Service is decent, very respectful waitresses and waiters. food is nasty. every time i have to go to this place for my family i never want to eat their food.. it gets me sick every single time. its too greasy. the chicken is the worst tastes terrible and dry. not to mention they give you too much food not even a grown man could finish his meal. some meals you have to have 3 sides along with the main course, The kids meal is much more of a reasonable amount for an adult but not a kid. my mom didn't want to have a adult meal she wanted to get the kids meal, now most places have no age restrictions with the kids meal but this place does. best have a child with you if you want to get the kids meal. and make it work. Ambiance is decent, out dated but they are updating it.if you want to go here i recommend you have a high tolerance to grease and don't get sick ofteni dont like this place at all.

Service was good but they threw away my to go food. Who even does that? The food was not that good. The presentation was not great and I blame the chef. The fries were unsalted and the sprite was disgusting. Overall not my favorite but don't let that stop you from going here.

Chicken is great has a different breading than typical American fried chicken. Also have free ice cream. Would recommend.

The food was good. I ended up ordering chicken, which was not my first choice. I wanted a steak, so I could see if I wanted to buy meat from them. We were told they ran out on Friday (this was Saturday) and the were also out of brown bread. I would think, like most restraunts, they do more business on weekends. That is poor planning on their part.Our waitress was very nice. The hostess was rude and seemed to have an attitude, not just with us, but everyone she was seating.The parking lot was a very nice surprise and they seem to be trying to clean and update.

We really like the chicken, very unique. Best eaten in the restaurant, but pretty good cold as well. The prices are still pretty good and portions are American sized..

Very disappointed in the "service" we received tonight. Due to a miscommunication we were told there would be a 45 minute wait for our food. Come to find out that was the wait time to dine in, then we were told it would be another 25 minutes for a to go order. That would be well over a hour of our time wasted. We are here out of town & don't go out to eat many places around here. I can understand a miscommunication but to then not have anyone apologize or try to accommodate us for our time is ridiculous. We won't be coming back here. This place has gone down hill. Perhaps the staff needs better hospitality training. We're on our way to White House chicken now!
