We grabbed one of each Kolache flavor. The lemon bar as well, since it has a thick layer of the lemon bar. $5 minimum for CC usage. The apricot and raspberry kolache are so-so, the cheese and walnuts aren't for me at all. The dough is dry, could use more butter or something, doesn't have the flaky, buttery dough I was hoping for at all. The lemon bar wasn't too bad, the lemon custard tastes decent at least.

I lived in Chicago for the past 20 years, and now I'm in Atlanta. Whenever I am in the area, I make it a point to stop at the West Side Market. You have so many options for food and specialty items...and Vera's is one of the very best! One of my personal favorites is their blossom bread. When they have it, the bacon is just crazy killer. When you heat it up in the oven, and you have the option of putting anything on it or with it- people go NUTS. My friend was picking me up from the airport around 5 PM last Friday, so I knew I wasn't going to be able to go to the WSM. I sent him there first before he picked me up. He loves getting the Swiss roll up (like ho ho's) cakes there. I had him pick me up two kinds of blossom bread, the only ones they had left. One was onion, the other was garlic. I don't eat as much as I used to, and I don't host parties like I used to- so these are now sitting in my freezer, waiting for the next party I attend or host so I can blow people's minds. Vera's has so many different items, savory or sweet, everything is literally hand made so it's beautiful to support this kind of small business and craftsmanship. Support small businesses, and trust me when I say if you get a chance to get the bacon and cheese blossom bread....do it! Then heat it up in the oven so it's crispy on the outside (and the bacon gets crunchy) and then the inside is gooey with the cheese but also with the soft pillowy bread interior. Thank you Vera's!

I was lost in the market, but things became CLEARERWhen I saw this place, and as I got NEARERBarbi said "OMG", but I couldn't HEAR HERCause I was busy staring at the Kolacky's from VERASo she said in Spanish "Ay, novio, MIRAR"And then opened her purse and eyed herself in the MIRRORYes I'm gay for pastries, but Vera made me QUEERERSo come and get some pastries now from VERAIf they close, it'll be the end of an ERAI'd move to the country and become a sheep SHEARERBut every time my Barbi's in Ohio, I STEER HERTo the West Side Market for some pastries from VERAWHAT!The best bakery in Cleveland, and that needs no Vera-fication.But if you need some new boobie implants, go instead to Vera's Nationality Fakery. And if you actually just want to party because someone died, go instead to Vera's Nationality Wakery. And if you actually want to learn how to steal donuts, go instead to Vera's Nationality Takery. This is a vera special bakery with vera specific kinds of stuff that are vera specifically from the old world and vera special in my opinion. If they wanted to censor the internet instead of making great pastries, they'd be Vera's Net Neutrality Bakery.Cleveland is full of Eastern European folks, and they make some pretty delicious fruit pastries, and they make them amazingly here. They're called Kolacky Cookies. They're delicious and chalky and dusty and authentic and perfectly made, filled with different delicious fruits. If they were worried that every customer was going to rob them, they'd be Vera's Neurotic Bakery. It's definitely one of the best bakeries in Ohio, and actually one of the best Eastern European bakeries I've ever been to. It's one of about 10 amazing places that you can't miss when you come to the West Side Market, and it's so dirt cheap that it's easy to combine it with all the other great stuff in town, and in this market. Frank's Bratwurst, Lemon and Sugar Crepe from Crepes Du Luxe, some pepper jerky from Czuchraj Meats, a Maha Falafel sandwich... are the ones I'd insist you try.If they were big fans of Barbie's extreme silicone body, they'd be Vera's Non-natural-please Bakery. So I highly recommend that you do that, and include Vera's on your itinerary in Cleveland's unmissable WSM. It's too delicious to put into words, so I'm not going to try to describe it except to just tell you but you need to come here and try all the different fruit pastries and figure out which one is your favourite for yourself. And if they were big fans of Shawn Mendes, they'd be Vera's No-ability Bakery. And:And if you actually just want to date a witch, go instead to Vera's Nationality Burned At The Stakery. And if you actually just want to look like Sideshow Bob, go instead to Vera's Nationality Stepped On A Rakery. And if you're trying to help Samuel L Jackson get serpents off a plane, go instead to Vera's Nationality Motherf***ing De-Snakery.And:I've been accused of debauchery and FAKERYWhen I'm in Cali, all my friends act FLAKERYStill if you wanna eat steak, go to a STEAKERYBut if you're in Cleveland, come to VERA'S BAKERY!WHAT

Vera's is located in The West Side Market, they specialize in fresh baked breads, pastries and global treats. Walking by their bread blossoms tjey caught my eye. They fill the soft flavorfull bread with different ingredients from onion & parmesan to jalapeno & cheddar they have 7 different varieties. They are really worth picking up a few, they are delicious. We also tried their larger than your head cinnamon pecan crisp, this too had wonderful cinnamon flavor and had a nice crunch with the pecans. All the staff are funny and friendly, you can tell they really enjoy what they are doing. They 2 guys waiting on us were amazing and extremely helpful. Will definitely be back!

Vera's Bakery is located in West Side Market and its sweet smells, wafting through the marketplace, beckoned to us in the early hour we were visiting. We were greeted by a friendly face and ambrosial treats when we walked up to this stand. There were rows upon rows of pastries in the showcase and I wasn't quite sure what to get, since everything looked so good! In the end, I opted for the raspberry bar, which is a major throwback to my college dorm days, when the dining halls would send up large trays of them to the residence hall lounges as sustenance for the students during finals week! Just one bite and I was transported back to that magical time years ago. That's exactly what a good pastry should do, and Vera's Bakery does it best. I would certainly visit again if I'm ever in Cleveland again. The prices are really reasonable and the lady at the counter was very friendly.I'm surprised this bakery doesn't have more reviews! It was recommended to us by two very different people, including a Cleveland native.

Vera's is a regular stop for me when I take my twice-monthly visit to West Side Market. As others have stated, there are a ton of great bakery options in the market so picking one is a very personal task. We've literally tried stuff from every single one of them and decided that Vera's is our place. We've never been disappointed with what we bought and the staff are friendlier than you come to expect at a place like this. Naturally they have all your boring breads like everyone else but if you're brave and willing to venture out, there are some serious gems in the case - all of which are fresh and delicious. My personal favorites are the beer breads (especially the brown sugar cinnamon beer bread which is like a taste of baked heaven) and the basil, herb and cheese loaf. Great stuff!Keep in mind that if you want to try some of their specialties, you need to go to the market on Friday or Saturday which are the busier market days. They only stock a lot of this stuff during the busy hours so go early (just not before I get there and grab my stock)!
