Union House Bar & Restaurant

Union House is an outstanding place to have a family luncheon. Last week we buried our 103 year old Uncle and met at Union House immediately after the service. The Food was tremendous. Several of us had the Fish Special which is served on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Absolutely fantastic. Large servings and the taste was extraordinary. All the other luncheons which were ordered were similarly completely enjoyed. The employees who waited on our table were extremely professional and friendly. The lunches were served very quickly after our order was taken.This is a GREAT restaurant. I would give it 10 stars but I am only permitted to do five.

Bar food is good and the staff is great. But you really need to come to see the bands.

The Friday Fish Fry is one of the best in the area...tonight's service not so much. The parking lot is always packed, the bar area has a buzzing and the tables are always at a premium. The fish is dipped and dredged per order, so it's hot and flakey and quite frankly amazing! Tonight my mom decided on the Public House for proximity. We sat ourselves and the wait began. We ordered the fish fry with clam chowder. Fries, coleslaw and a hefty piece fish per order. You can get pierogis for $1 each. If it weren't for the great food we might have left. Our waitress was obviously seasoned but her attention to detail or complete lack was awful. She rushed our order, was annoyed when we asked for refills and then never brought them, outside of bringing our food and bill we never saw her. Maybe it was an off night, either way I will never sit in her section again .

Some places will surprise you with a cool atmosphere or food that you weren't expecting; then there is Union House which was exactly what it seems to be a dive bar/restaurant with decent food. Union House is suppose to have a great Friday fish fry so I gave them a try.Walking into Union House you find a dimly lit room with no real decor to speak of. The front half of the large room is the dining area with ordinary tables and chairs, the back half is a large bar area, there is even an old school bowling machine.I ordered the Clam Chowder and the Fish Fry. The bowl of Chowder was decent sized with enough clams and potatoes, but there was nothing terribly distinctive about it. The fish was a nice sized Cod fillet, battered and fried. The batter was good, but the fish underneath was just ok. The fries and slaw were both acceptable, but there was nothing that I could have picked as special or different. I love a good dive as much or more than most people, but for a dive to make it as one of my favorites, there has to be some sort of vision or inspiration that raises it above just average, unfortunately for me Union House did not have any such spark.

My wife and I stopped here for lunch while we waited on an oil change at our Kia dealer. The fish sandwich was awesome and the staff super nice snd friendly. We met the owner who was incredibly nice snd has great plans to extend the menu; her family also owns Whiteys which is a great place in Richfield. We will definitely stop back.

Stopped in after work and walked into a room with lots of empty tables. A large circular bar that was fairly occupied with clientele and one bartender. We sat at a table near the bar and after some time, decided there was no wait staff. Went to the bar, ordered a beer and asked for menus. Went back to the bar and ordered a gyro wrap, chicken wrap and some pierogis. The food was very good, seasoned well and filling.If you don't mind a bar setting, the food is worth a try.

Was looking forward to eat here. I'd heard good reviews about their fish. But for $12.99 it was a total disappointment. A handful of fries, a small cup of slaw, and half filet of fish. You could tell that my fish and my friend's were the same piece cut in half. Tasted okay but could get more at Long John's or Arthur Treachers.

I'M OVER THIS PLACE!!!!! been coming here for years and we loved the fish. Just in the last year or so it's gone downhill in everyday. I'll start off positive and give the food a 10, but presentation is given an F. Used to get great bread and butter and then the dinner would come on dishes, yes dishes. NOW. they stopped giving the bread and butter and the food comes out in baskets with paper liners. The fish is moist and when you go for a bite you get paper with it. Not enjoyable!!!! Pieroges are half the size. We like to go out to eat and watch baseball and they NEVER have the game on. Wahoo posters everywhere and you aren't playing the game? Finally, the staff. phew this need work. I mean I know it's hard to get good help but for quite a few years you've had these same women. The nasty blond at the bar who when you ask what is your favorite thing on the menu. She gives you a look and says I dont eat this slop. WOW. She then went into a diatribe about being a vegan. Next the waitress is nice but a ditz. Takes her forever to get us refills on our drinks and finally that women that cleans the tables that just stands there staring at you waiting to you to finish so she has something to do. I'm done. I'll miss the fish but it's too frustrating being here. and stop raising your prices. geez you're a bar

Waited over 1 hour to get served. Lisa, our waitress, did not even greet us for more than 15 minutes. Short on staff, both on the floor as well as in the kitchen. Lisa said that the restaurant has only two fryers to cook the fish and fries. She kept saying she had spoken with the owner about the delay. we finally requested the check and three minutes late the food came. It was okay, fish looked good, not great flavor but not bad, the fries were good. Only had some cheap well wine so I drank water. Older crowd, some bikers, nice people. Would not go back.. They have a serious service issue. Full fish fry was $16.00

the best fish fry for any friday dinner! doesn't p to be lent, it's really good! highly recommend for folks to try it out!
