Turk Brothers Custom Meats

Every time we visit Ashland, we visit Turk Brothers. They offer a great selection of meats, fish, house-made sausage, as well as a small selection of spices, mixes, jams and other prepackaged items. My husband and I stopped in looking for some pretty thick T-bones on a recent visit. They gladly cut them for us while we waited. We cooked them over a fire ring with some cherry wood and I will have to say these were probably the best steaks I have ever had - fresh, great flavor, thick, tender - just absolutely wonderful. We have purchased walleye fish and sausage to bring back to VA. They freeze and vacuum pack the items so they stay frozen in the cooler for the ride home and fresh in the freezer. Their hot and mild Italian sausage is delicious. Their Cajun sausage is absolutely fantastic and perfect for jambalaya. We use the walleye to make fish & chips since we prefer a firmer fish than cod. Last visit we tried their smoked sausage and we'll definitely be bringing some more of that back next trip.Their prices are probably a bit higher than some of the grocery stores around the area, but I will say Turk Brothers quality totally makes it worthwhile.I believe they also process meats - your cow or deer, they butcher. I can't speak to that, but I will say I will be visiting again next time I am in Ashland to take home some of their delicious fresh meats.

Never using Turks in Ashland ever again for processing meat. They lost my order sheet and screwed up my cuts on what I wanted done with my pig and even botched the one I had sold so that makes me look bad since they are not getting the cuts they asked for. We called 2 weeks ago to check in on our orders and they never said anything and we even left our phone number again with them and they even apparently lost that too because they were never going to call us to even pick up our pigs.When I called them once we realized they didn't make the cuts we wanted all they did was hang up on me! Screw that!

Always great quality beef! As close to prime as you can get even though USDA is not involved. Won't go elsewhere for my beef!

Took a beef the be butchered. The dock is not easy to unload animals. When we got the meat the cuts were not exactly as we wanted. They don't cut porterhouse steaks separate from t-bone steaks. Rib steaks did not have bone on them and we were told that's because we did not ask for it. We have never had to ask for a rib bone with a rib steak before. Looking through the packages I can see dirt on some of the meat!?! We won't be back, again.
