Tommy's Place

Great neighborhood bar. Decked out as a pop up Grinch bar. Love it! Such a fun twist on the usual Christmas theme. This place is covered in green fur and Grinchy details. This has been a Rocky River staple for years. Recently I notice a much younger crowd gathering but there is still a good mix of locals. Limited menu and the food comes from nearby Wine Bar. Awesome deck in back built around a tree and big patio outdoor area as well.

We had a really rough visit here the last time we went. The bartender was nasty and rude - I am not sure this is the usual for this place but what a disappointment in a place we have been before.

Perfectly local! Who knew that tucked between a wine bar and a hip eatery was Tommy's Place, a neighborhood bar in the middle of downtown Rocky River. Tommy's is quiet, full of regulars, not to mention the smell of popcorn and skeeball are enough to make you want to come back. Sit at the bar or on the front porch, either way stop in, play some keno and stay awhile. Will definitely be back.

This is one of our favorite places to go! My mom and grandma are definitely regulars but they aren't the only ones. The bar is always packed with locals where everyone knows everyone. It is such a neighborhood atmosphere that makes you just comfortable and easy to enjoy your meal. They have live music on the weekends and sometimes during the week. They have a large porch in the back yard with a huge tree growing through it which makes it feel like you are in the south. It is on a street full of restaurants but this is the key. It is a casual diner that feels like family.The food is delicious and comforting. Tommy's always has a great selection of specials but you can't go wrong with any of their burgers. I highly recommend this little slice of heaven located on a side street in the great city of Rocky River.

Went for the clambake. They didn't have the clam chowder that is supposed to come with the meal, so they gave us some chicken noodle soup that tasted like it came from a can and knocked a dollar off each of our meals. Fine. Then came the actual meal. Everything was brought out to us room temperature - not one thing was served hot. The clams were dry and chewy and flavorless. I actually had to spit one out because I couldn't even swallow it. The corn on the cob was dark, shriveled, and old to the point that after one bite, I couldn't even eat it. The chicken that came with the meal was bland, and had a texture like it had been boiled. It was gross. The only thing that was edible was the sweet potato. Now for the service. When we first got there, we were the only table. Our server initially pled with us not to leave over their being out of clam chowder, saying someone else left over it and that we were the first table she's had so far today. Then, once other customers came in, she couldn't even keep up with her tables. Our service all but stopped. We had to ask three times just to get to-go boxes because she kept walking past us empty-handed and saying, "Oops! I forgot again!" I seriously think 20 minutes went by before we got them.It was my first experience there and it will be my last. Yuck.

Horrible experience. Music was blaring. Asked twice for it to be turned down so we could hear our party of 3 and the waitress. Table was dirty with crumbs. Kitchen closed. We finished our drinks and left. Not the Tommy's of previous ownership.

Keep trying to like the place but leave disappointed EVERY time. Nice deck but the food is so BLAH! Salsa is bad jar salsa and everything I've eaten tastes fresh from the shelves of Save-A-Lot! If they could put some love into their food, I could see this place being a destination. Others share my sentiment and done trying to like Tommys.

Sat out on patio for 10 min waiting on a waitress. Small place they had a bartender and waitress working. Actually called the restaurant from there deck and wine t to voicemail. Ended up leaving. Will not be back.
