Stayed in hotel, last time here and went to Lucca which was outstanding! This time the sous chef recommended the steak which they cut in house and Grecian salad with their dressing. He was right! NY strip seasoned great and perfectly medium rate! Fun veggie mix had al dene yellow carrots in a mild sauce.Salad was outstanding!Servers are eclectic! Communicate clearly and they are a delight!

The food was great. We had a burger and nachos for an appetizer. However, Steve, the bartender left much to be desired. The service here was the absolute worst I have ever encountered. I highly recommend ordering food to go so that you do not have to endure his terrible attitude. The man was down right rude to all that entered the establishment. Hopefully management can turn this around. The man seriously needs to realize that he works for tips and that a polite "hello" and a smile can go a long way. It seemed as if we inconvenienced him by simply taking a seat at the bar.

Burger didn't knock my socks off. I stayed in the hotel and Canton is apparently the middle of nowhere so options were limited.

Good food and great drink specials. Really cool environment with pool tables, big bar, tons of TVs. Karen, the bartender, was great and really knows what she's doing. Also, as far as hotel bars are, the prices were great!

Wow, I think this may be a "little known secret" of Canton!! I went for the first time last Saturday evening at a little after 5PM. OK, yes, a little early for the dinner hour...but there was absolutely no one in the restaurant. But we were greeted relatively promptly. Our only complaint was that they were out of ribs. High marks on the Chicken Marsala and the Lasagna. The steak was fabulous with accompanying vegetables. I also had a side of fries with my steak...and they were perfectly fried golden brown with just a bit of softness in the middle. My salad could have been just a bit larger...but all in all, everything was very tasty!! Will definitely go again!!

The only reason I give the place a two-star is that the food is really good. Back of the house is great. Front of the house is terrible. Spouse and I went three times while staying at the adjoining hotel. The service got progressively worse each time. The place seems very short-staffed and they should hire more people (and consider drug testing). The last time we ate there was yesterday, and the bartender was pulling triple duty at the bar, as server, and room service runner. He was somewhat curt with us, which I was willing to overlook since he was a one-man band. So I stayed polite and he became nicer also. During our meal, a server came in and sounded agitated and upset at someone. It was loud enough for us to notice it. I attempted to use a restaurant.com certificate with smartphone redemption to pay part of our bill, and the bartender went to check to see if they could take it. Then, the bartender approached us with the server who showed up halfway through the meal. The server said they weren't supposed to take the certificate, but would if I walked out of the restaurant and to the business center in the hotel to get it printed out. Something about a problem they had with the website and their management not liking phone redemption. She increasingly talked very fast and loud, was extremely animated, and sounded overly hyper and erratic. Spouse noticed her eyes were dilated. I asked her to repeat where the business center was located (since she was talking so fast) and she got angry and accused me of not listening to her, and then talked even louder and faster, then out of nowhere, apologized and said she wasn't angry at me. The bartender then volunteered to take me to the business center to print the gift certificate. Thankfully, the computer usage and printing was free (most hotels I've stayed in charge for that), and got the bill settled. It was a very odd and uncomfortable experience.

After walking around the eerily empty streets around 9:30 pm on a weekday in search of an open restaurant for dinner, I decided to suck it up and just eat at the hotel restaurant. I ordered the chicken piccata with some linguine noodles and veggies. The piccata sauce was too creamy and not salty enough. It came with a side of parmesan, which helped but didn't save the meal from being below average. I ate just enough to not be hungry, then abandoned the rest.

My daughter and I arrived around 5;30 p.m. to have a nice dinner,to celebrate the birth of her daughter. When we entered nobody was to be seen, we ask the bar keep if they are opened, she seats us.(she was up beat and pleasant). We order our appetizers and entree's.The salad came directly after the appetizers, followed by the entress,s. We were the only table there she had forgotten all the extra items we asked for(water, napkins steak knife, extra plate,) plus they have no pepper mill!!! We ordered a Ny strip which was prepared perfectlly, and the Seafood Borelaise which was also great. The food was excellent service horrible .

Reservations were not needed but we did call ahead anyways, not knowing what to expect during the holidays. We did use a restaurant.com certificate and printed it out prior to going to the restaurant. They did accept the certificate which helped us at this time of year. The atmosphere of Thorpe's restaurant is very relaxing with it being the Christmas season. Thorpe's was decorative for the holiday's with a fireplace and lights on the mantel, making this a very quite and relaxing hideaway in Canton. I recommend going here for that in itself, even if just for a beverage. To begin our meal, you get a choice of soup or salad. When I learned that I could get one of my favorites- French onion soup- I ordered that. The french onion soup is one of the best soups, I have had at any restaurant and comparable to the 356th Fighter Group that use to be by the AKC airport. The chili was also good. I would go back solely just for the French onion soup when I don't have time restrictions to eat.We both ordered the New York Strip Steak and it was delicious and well worth the wait! The steak was a melt in your mouth type of meat. The steak was seasoned perfectly, tender and a very good cut- it can't get much better than that. (5 stars for the Steak.) The steak was beyond my expectations. The vegetable medley that accompanied the steak with zucchini, carrots and a bit of sweet red peppers was very good too. Although I ordered a side of rice, I was served french fries due to a miscommunication and I only mentioned it to the server but did not care to wait longer for the food to come back to the table since I was really hungry and we were going to a Charge (basketball game) that night. My boyfriend just switched with me. She offered to bring me rice but I declined. Overall, a very good meal even with a side of salty mashed potatoes.I still plan to go back, in the future since the Steak and French onion soup were one of the best that I have had in Canton. If you are looking for a good place to eat with atmosphere, and one that doesn't have a long lines on a Saturday night, this may be it. I just recommend call ahead and allowing extra time and you will have a very good meal.
