The Shop Bar and Grill

Came in for a quick beer and pick up for food. Service was attentive, friendly, and efficient. Patrons friendly...this is a bar of regulars. Old style bowling machine to the right of the bar constantly played while there and all were on first name basis of folks as evidence. Keno seemed popular and superbowl square betting was offered, we declined. Band was practicing before 7 pm to start up the already ready to go crowd. Husband ordered a hamburger and sweet potato fries to go. He said it was great! Based on that comment, I know he will want more burgers there and will eventually try wings and other things off menu. This is bar food, nothing fancy, standard meat offerings which will make meat eaters happy.

Service was great and there food is amazing. Great burgers! They have a great patio and sand volleyball courts. Great place to catch a local band.

We love finding new places when we have time. This was one of those times. Outside was a little less than appealing, but certainly not enough to deter us from going in. Trust me here, sometimes these are the best places. Once inside, it was way cleaner than I would have expected. Nice simple decor with lots of license plates, and outlines of tools on the wall behind the liquor. A little short on the TVs, so maybe not a place to go to watch sports, but nonetheless, a small negative. The food was good. I had a breakfast burger. Nice sized portion for a burger and cooked well. Can't stand the upcharges for fries, which then made this burger on the pricey side. My son had their buffalo mac and cheese with chicken and that was a huge portion, and cooked very well. Even came with a salad. No way could he eat it all. We had two servers during our visit, as one had to leave to pick up her daughter. The server who took over for her didn't miss a beat and did a great job as well. Worth a visit!

This is the surprise spot you've been looking to find. Good food, great service, friendly bartender and cold beer. Take the bike for a ride or a stop after work or a couples night out; it's all good. All ages during the day. Gets a little loud for us old folks, but eat, drink and run.

This is the old Sam & Tommy's. They still have the sand volleyball courts with leagues and plenty of open time if you just want to mess around. But now the new owners are from Mr. Lee's. So now you have good wings and volleyball. We came by on our home the other night and ended up having a fun time seeing a few poeple we knew and met some friendly people at the bar. Well made drinks and a great bartender to boot.

Poorly managed the night we were there on Memorial Day weekend. Mixed drinks were basically pop. Several errors on the food. They were corrected, but still too many. Band playing outside around 9:30 pm and it was 58° outside. Guess what, the staff was outside and only 2 employees were inside even though it was a full bar. One person was a cook, server maybe bartender too. I give him credit for trying.When the band was finished the staff came into the bar to pitch in. Geez thanks!

Just now leaving "the shop" bar and grill in Painesville. I highly DO NOT recommend it! The food is mediocre at best, and is staffed with a couple of Karens who have attitudes! I complained about the fact that nowhere on the menu, pickles are mentioned, and that my food came out with a giant pickle wedge buried under the chips with the juice soaking the food around it.*The FACT is that fewer than half of Americans actually like pickles.*I flagged our server down, asked to see the menu, and confirmed that there are NO PICKLES mentioned ANYWHERE on the menu, so I handed her my plate, and I had them make a new order because the food was ruined because of pickle juice.The Karen behind the bar came to me and asked "what is your problem, you complained about your order?" I said "imagine ordering food in a restaurant, and someone takes a big, steaming dump on your food; this is the same as it is when you put a big, wet, pickle onto people's food. She said "something about "watching my mouth" and stormed away. She returned within a few minutes and brought it out in a to-go container and pretty much told me that she "doesn't tolerate bullshit complaints from anybody, and to leave". The fact that they had a crap band playing didn't make things any better because we had to yell at the top of our lungs to try to communicate. If it is on the menu and I miss it, MY BAD! But it was not on the menu, and not mentioned by any servers, and I get attitudes when I complain? Sorry, but to me, putting a pickle on my plate is no different than taking a big steaming dump on my plate! Garnishes are to decorate the plate, NOT TO RUIN THE FOOD!I don't see this place lasting very long, just like the other poorly run businesses that occupied the same spot.The owner reached out to me, offering to reimburse me for our meal and to give us a gift certificate, and I refused, especially after she tried to justify the poor actions of her staff and to try to blame me for her staff's bad service. I am not the only one to complain about the staff here, so I am not alone. The owner then sent the bartender of the gay bar that she owns, after me to attack me on facebook, so I blocked him. She said that I instigated him because after he started attacking me, I said to her that she could try to teach him how to be more professional.She then tried to pressure me into deleting my review on their facebook page, to which I said, emphatically, NO!

ive been going to this place for over 32 years.many different owners.the last time,with the current owners,was very hopeful,the the last 1/2 dozen owners,very dissapointed.anyway,went inside,had to look for someone to wait on us,asked to sit/eat on front porch. one person said they dont serve there,2nd person said no lights out front(i have seen people eating,with lights,out front. 3rd person said we can eat out front but had to get the food ourselves and take it out front? so we went in back to patio,excellent band,very crowded.service was under par.took way too long to get waited on and then served.they were busy,but not overly busy,and im a very patient customer.ive been in retail,customer service for 48 years.
