The Proper Pig Smokehouse

I got a combo plate with pulled pork and brisket and a side of mac and cheese, beans, potato salad. I wish it came with a slice of bread but glad it came with pickles and onions!The food came out very quick. The staff was all very nice. Good BBQ spot coming from this Texas gal.

Food is subpar. Service is ok. It's not very busy here probably because the food is ok. Cool place to sit and have a drink at the bar though. Price is kinda high.

I guess one bad thing about going to a place for yrs is you see that yet another restaurant is giving you less for more money. The small sides are pretty damned small! Food taste...not bad but nothing over the moon either. Barbecue sauce is very vinegary.

Wow! The place is a little gem! We popped in around lunchtime and we were greeted right away. The food was phenomenal. We had a party of 6 so we had a lot of options to taste. We left took a walk and came back for more food to take home with us because it was so good!

This place was amazing! We came over from the crappy bar across the street to get better food and drinks. Huge selection of old Smokey moonshine, pretty much every flavor with such a huge variety. The three guys working were awesome! They were so friendly and conversational and were overall such a good experience. The food was great, brisket sandwiches and Mac and cheese was phenomenal, so I'm sure you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. It's all fresh and smoked to perfection. They had booze milkshakes and tons of options and great deals. We loved the bacon on the stick. Cute decor and awesome country music. We adored this place. Would love to come back. C

Excellent food and service! Can't wait to come back. Brisket is so tender and sandwich is a wonderful combo of flavors.

2 for $5 gorgeous bacon on a stick which was incredibly thick and yet so juicy and not leathery at all. $3 very small portions of banana pudding which was okay- kinda had a bit of a cream cheese flavor. Proper Slopper )12 sandwich had a soft brioche bun and a bit of not at all sweet cole slaw atop a pile of sausage pieces, brisket which was fantastically seasoned (best in Ohio I've had thus far) and pulled pork. The sandwich meat was really good. All food has barbecue sauce on the side which is a travesty considering barbecue is all about the meat and sauce marriage. One sauce only here. The sauce was not at all my style. It was definitely a Texas and Carolina mix of styles with vinegar and spice. I'm glad it came separately. It was a water-thin, vinegary peppery mildly spicy sauce.

Stumbled in on this place when the brewery my friend and I were planning on going to was closed for a private event. For a Friday evening at 6:15ish, Proper Pig was nearly vacant. Not a great sign, but at this point we were hungry and knew we weren't getting into a trendy place without a resi.The workers there are kind, personable, and made us feel welcome. We were seated and served quickly.My friend ordered the ribs, brisket, and cole slaw. I ordered pulled pork, turkey, and cole slaw. The food was ok. When I get bbq, I want it to be tender, juicy, and nice balanced flavor. The turkey delivered on that surprisingly, but the pulled pork left a little to be desired. It was dry dry dry. The house bbq sauce tasted... like it needed to be cooked or something. It just had a very vinegary ketchupy flavor to it, the consistency is rather thin, and I've had better. My friend gave me a bite of brisket, and it too was dry and extremely salty. The cole slaw was ok. I wish there were greens of some sort offered, like hammy green beans or collard greens. This bbq was mid.. Maybe it was an off day, maybe it's because it's the evening and it was kept warm all day? I'm glad I tried it but I don't think I'd recommend it if you're a bbq snob.

Excellent customer service and delicious food! My fiancé and I were walking down the street when we saw this video playing in the window of a smokehouse. He was sold so we went in! Upon entering we were immediately welcomed by the server and were seated. The menu was simple and easy to read with a variety of BBQ options. I went for the brisket sandwich with sausage and Mac n cheese. It was absolutely delicious!! I also have to hype the peach tea was amazing, some of the best I have ever had! Pricing wasn't anything crazy too, it was quite reasonable! We will definitely be back again!

I usually order the same thing and it is always good. A pulled pork sandwich and coleslaw and baked beans. The sides are small so I always get two but they are delicious. The beans are especially tasty. The pulled pork comes with pickles and onions and you can add the barbecue sauce. My husband loves the brisket and sausage. We are regulars at this little restaurant because the food is delicious, staff are friendly, service is fast, the place is clean, and prices are good. I highly recommend this restaurant,
