The Original Roadhouse

I stopped in a couple of times before reviewing this time. The food was good both times but there was a definite difference between the visits. Some dishes seemed like a little more care was taken before they were brought out. The chicken quesadilla was bigger than expected and not a bad deal at $10. Ribs and chicken were alright but the baked potato seemed like it was sitting out a while. During the visits we had two wedge salads with one being made a lot better than the other. The chicken and steak salad was put together really well and was a big dinner size. They have many options to choose from so be prepared to spend some time looking over it all. We will stop back in I'm sure. The inconsistency might just be a fluke.

The food was incredible. It tasted clean and fresh. The mashed potatoes were actually real. I had the Rueben, and it wasn't dripping with grease. The fried pepper jack cheese balls were amazing. This place is so overlooked.

Flys in the dining area. Can't imagine how many are in the kitchen. Had breakfast something plastic in the egg like a bread wrapper. Won't be back.

We tried this place for the first time for lunch. We were seated quickly, but the server couldn't seem to get our drink orders right. Why don't servers write things down anymore? They often rely on their memory and then have to ask you 3 times what you want.The menu is large, and then they provide you with 2 additional menus with specials, etc. The specials are decent prices. There are sandwiches, salads and wraps. I opted for the fried chicken club, which was a chicken patty with tomato, lettuce and bacon served in grilled bread. It was ok, but not a lot of flavor. The bun definitely had too much butter on it for grilling purposes. The child's portion of spaghetti was large and she thoroughly enjoyed it. The atmosphere is very cute, with a western theme. I would return if in the area, but try something different.

I'm giving 2 stars because We came here about 2 months ago for a late lunch. Wasn't that bad. The wife had a steak salad and I had ribs. The ribs were edible. Wasn't REAL ribs but again, they were edible. The steak salad was actually kind of big for a lunch menu item.Today we start with a complete cluster #@%$ of disorganization. We move from standing in an area not made for waiting patrons to a 4 seat high-top as were handed out menus by a female employee at the door. This female just doesnt know what customer service is. She tells me, to fend for myself! After sitting down I take out a bleach wipe and wipe down the table which by the way I had just seen a person do to this table. The bleach wipe turns dark brown telling me they're cleaning the tables with dirty water/rags or whatever. I get another bleach wipe (my wife Carrie's a travel pack in her purse) and I wipe down the menus. These ALSO are filthy enough to turn the wipes dark brown. HOW DISGUSTING!!!!!So we sit and wait at least 15 minutes for our server. We've still not been served any drinks. Oh wait, our server is the bartender! ANOTHER restaurant that uses the bartender to also serve tables. Now we know the reason for the delay. The bartendserver is of course going to be more interested in the patrons at the bar vs one table. So this bartendserver takes our drink orders and returns in a few moments with our drinks. The wife orders a Prime Rib, MEDIUM and I order a Strip MEDIUM. What do we get? MEDIUM WELL!! Do these so called steakhouses NOT know how to cook a steak? Now my fries were hot and fresh and the wife enjoyed her red skin mashed potatoes. I'm still waiting for a re-fill.... Oh wait, FINALLY a re-fill..I'm not one to stiff a server with zero for a tip. That said this person didnt EARN a tip however I did leave a little more than .08 percent of my bill (before taxes of course). I also left a note on the receipt, "Look for feedback on Yelp"... I'm just wondering if they're smart enough to actually read that... Final thoughts, this particular location is no better than the New Middletown location. Neither can properly cook a steak.. Save your money! Buy your own steaks and cook them yourself. Even if your a bad cook, you're NOT going to do any worse than the NON-COOKING person at The Original Roadhouse!

I've been eating here for years, in fact, i used to work here. Over the years this place has just gradually gone downhill in terms of service and quality. The past 4 times I have ordered take out the order has been wrong in some way. Today, I went back to receive the food they forgot in my order... it was cold and soggy! At least my wrap was edible. This place used to be amazing but now it's an over-priced last resort.

Good food in my opinion. Thursday's wing night is definitely worth going to. Be sure to get them "wood fired" the "Roy Rogers" steak is also very good. I miss how they used to do the little breakfast buffet on the weekend, but it is what it is. The negatives are that service for drinks at the bar are painfully slow and whoever the heavyset blonde lady who's in-charge of the waitresses is incredibly rude to both customers as well as staff. I'd easily give a 4-Star review if it wasn't for her, but her negativity most definitely effects the climate of the place. Would visit again and keep my fingers crossed that the mean lady isn't present. Would also recommend others to try.

Traveling past for months trying to eat there and this time thought we'd order "to go" called for 10 minutes they finally answered she said I'd have to wait a minut...I thought she had to get a pen or paper...waited 10 minute and hung up. We a now 35 minutes from driving past there. I call back thinking I got disconnected for 10 minutes they do answer and said they were busy and it'd be at least 45 minutes for 2 burgers..maybe longer! I explained we had been driving past and wanted to try them when she rudely said welp sorry we can't serve you it's how it is sorry for your luck cant take our order! i work too hard for my money to waste on bad service and very bad attitudes! drive on by bc you're not a valued custOmer and they aren't in a hurry for your business

Great place! Good prices and great food! The steak special on the patio made for a nice evening.
