It's so exciting when you try a new business and it turns out to be your new "place." After admiring them on social media for so long, my family decided to take the leap and order holiday specialty cakes from The Hive for our dessert. You will be so happy to know these cakes are just as beautiful, maybe more, then they are on Instagram!When we saw the holiday menu online, we knew we had to try it immediately. I love that they have an online ordering system where you are promptly invoiced to submit half of your payment ahead of time, and pay the other half when you arrive to pick up your order. The Studio is super cute with vibrant colors and quirky details that really give the space personality. They have a sweet little coffee bar at the front as well as a bakery case with brownies, cookies, and other house bakery specialties.Our cakes were absolutely fabulous. You can really tell the difference between a cake made with love and a mass-market store-bought cake. The peppermint chocolate cake literally tasted like a boozy York peppermint Patty. The cranberry almond cake had the perfect almond flavor but was not a complete sugar bomb. We all commented on how we loved the icing and attention to detail on both of these cakes. We had such a great experience with them that we came back a few weeks later To purchase a custom birthday cake. Again, they exceeded our expectations and we were thrilled. Wonderful staff, easy ordering and unbeatable cakes in terms of taste and beauty. This cake studio is absolutely worth the drive and you can feel wonderful about supporting local!

I went here for the Cupcake Crawl. The cupcake I got was carrot cake. The design was very elegant. The icing was light but unfortunately a bit much for the cake. It took the flavor away from the cake. There was also a little bit too much of raisins and carrots for the little amount of cake you get. The will have a butter beer cupcake so I will go back to try that. I gave a three star since the service was great and the icing was not bad. They are worth a second try. The lady was very friendly. Be warned that they do close early. We just made it there.

Very impressed with this local cake studio! Ordered a pumpkin Birthday cake with cinnamon butter cream. Numerous people said it was the best cake they have ever had. It was also very well decorated. I would not hesitate to order from here again and will recommend it.

For my son's 10th birthday I wanted to get him a really special cake. I inquired to many bakeries and decided on The Hive because they were close and they sent me pictures of what the cake could look like. Very professional. I went in and paid my deposit and the cake made to look like a Nintendo Switch was ready on party day! The cake looked so good! His friends loved the cake and so did he. My son like plain flavors so the cake was vanilla with chocolate buttercream.he loved it! It tasted very good. So good that my husband requested a cake and cupcakes for his birthday the following week! He is also a plain flavor guy so got the same vanilla cake with chocolate buttercream.the cupcakes were amazing! So moist and flavorful. The cake however was a little dry. I was shocked because my son's cake was so good. That's the reason for the 4 stars. Had his cake been as great as my son's, it would have been 5 stars all the way. They are a great bakery and il going today to snag some Valentine's Day cupcakes for the family!

Cupcakes delicious and satisfied my craving locally I will return for more easy to find location

In the far western suburb of Amhert, Ohio lies a bakery that creates desserts as pleasing to the eyes as they are to the mouth. Calvin C states the owner couldn't be sweeter. I find that funny because she is sweet making sweet creations. The cupcakes are subtle without being too sugary. For sugar addicts like Kristi T I am sure it is enough to make you login into Yelp, create a profile and write one scornful review of The Hive. Nothing more, nothing less. Just one negative review boasting of tossing $27 worth of delicious cup cakes into the trash. Hell, if I had $27 to throw into the trash, I would do so at the Lido Lounge. Maybe I need to start garbage picking in Amherst. I recommend the Funky Monkey cupcake. If i have any major events coming up, I will splurge for a custom design cake. They are works of art.

As we entered, we were greeted with a smile and straight ahead was their case filled with delights. We chose four cupcakes. I got the lovely pink strawberry one. It was better than I imagined. Real strawberries and not strawberry flavoring. I am not a frosting person, but this frosting was like a fresh strawberry milkshake which melted in my mouth. I can't wait to try the other flavors we got. They have a cake baking event this week which I can't attend, but I signed up for their emails so I can take advantage of future opportunities.

Beautiful cake done for my Daughters bridal shower. Being a big Harry Potter fan, Melissa and the Hive were spot on. Not only was it awesome, it was the most moist and delicious cake ever. I live in New Jersey and have no problem going on a road trip for goodies. Thank you again Melissa. Your definitely in a league of your own!!!

We ordered the banana pecan caramel cake and it was delicious. The frosting was some of the best I've had. Light and not too sweet. Everyone at the party raved about the cake as well. Would definitely order again from here.

I used to love this place! until this time; we ordered my daughter a plain plink cake w gold drip (a pic from their book) first, they couldn't do any metallics so she said to do a white drip. we paid $65 for the cake(wasn't an issue just wanted her to get what she wanted). she picked up the cake &there were confetti sprinkles all over it.we wanted something elegant &plain. she picked up the cake just before they closed for several days so we couldn't do anything about it at that point. that's what we were getting. I thought well at least it'll taste awesome, but several people complained about it. I always rolls everyone about this place & to go there bc they were so good. I am just SO disappointed!
