Friendly place with a lot of regulars. The bartenders are great. Today it was Sarah. She's friendly and professional at the same time. The regular menu is predictable but good bar food. But always check out the specials for homemade soups and more. Today I had the special: breaded pork chop with home fries and mixed veggies which was great at 15$. Cozy place. Great juke box. Check the joint out.

Nice little dive bar I found last night. I ordered a couple long islands and a green tea shot and I'm still hungover as I write this the next day lol.. my date got a couple beers. It was pretty busy but not packed in there. They have an ami music machine we had fun with playing Journey, MJ, Usher, and more. The food smelled okay, I'll probs be back to order something soon!Towards the end of the night the owner of the bar actually bought my date and I another round which was super cool!

Stopped today for my husband's birthday. Had lots of cold beverages, wings, fries and the special of the day-loaded baked potato soup. The food here is always so delicious but the soup - oh the soup! I was advised by the lovely bartender that the soups are scratch made so I cannot wait to try some fall soups/stews! Even getting them to go is something I will definitely be doing.Great food, cold beverages and super service!

Awesome small bar. The food was better than I expected with a huge portion size! I recommend the Lander Boy and tots.

The Highlander is a classic hole in the wall bar that you could easily walk by not seeing, but that is a mistake. It gives you everything you want: affordable cold beer, attentive service even when busy, a few TVs and delicious bar food. They have rotating daily specials, great onion rings, corned beef egg rolls that I haven't seen anywhere else, and the Lander Boy is one of the best burgers around. It is a small venue and can get pretty crowded at times, but as long as you don't mind talking a little louder and rubbing elbows with good people you should be fine. The Highlander is the neighborhood bar chains try to imitate and ruin.

A friend (Tom) recommended the Highlander. It was a bit of a drive I live in 7 hills. This place will warm the cockles of your heart. You couldn't ask for a better bartenderess than Carol. Had a couple of Labatts drafts and 2 shots. My wife had two Jim Beam's and soda. We weren't that hungry so we had the corn beef egg rolls. Sounds weird but exquisitely delicious! Wish I was more hungry. Next time I go there I gotta get the Lander Boy. I saw them serve that to another patron and the chicken wings looked great also. As Arnold would say...I'll be back.

This is a really cute throwback bar. Small but mighty. Attentive servers despite the busy night. They let us eat a pizza from La Rich's next door last week. LaRich's was our first date 38 years ago so it was cool to taste their pizza in their "new" location. This week we had The Highlander's Saturday steak special. It was great!! Delicious tender steak and crispy fries. $8.99. Throw down the mic. $4 wine and $2.50 beers. On Saturday night. Wow

It's places like these that are good for the soul. Simple, unpretentious, real & genuine. Within walking distance from the bungalow, The Highlander was last night's destination and place of entertainment....Daily specials & food fitting for a bar. The crispy wings & burgers seem to be the favorites among the regulars. The Burger of choice is titled "The Lander". A double-patty monstrosity of grilled ground beef. Humorously titled just below it on the menu is "The Lander Girl". A clear attempt to shame the less hungry dive dwelling man into sheer embarrassment for ordering the wimpy one patty-version. The bartender Derrick is extremely welcoming and possess all the necessary characteristics of the perfect bartender. Despite manning the entire bar, as well as the few high-tops, Derrick somehow always knows when a refill is needed before reaching the last drop of swill. He's a calm, efficient and personable individual. A great host. Whether it's a lifelong mission, or just some misplaced drunken over-romanticized hope, I've been wanting to find a comfortable watering hole where everyone knows your name. A modern day Cheers if you will. The Highlander may be my Cheers of the Eastside. Sloppily raises glass of Irish Whiskey and toasts to The Highlander: That the joy and prosperity may reign forever! Sláinte!
