The Fairview Tavern

First time visiting Cleveland and it was late with few options. Initially I was worried when the female staff appeared to be a customer and had no eagerness to sit us, and initially was a bit sarcastic. Also, there are areas in the back that smelled quite musky. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the experience.The food was tasty and hit the spot, and the portions were enormous for their sandwiches and pizza. Except the salmon was a bit fishy (likely frozen), and the chips didn't taste home made as stated and more like Lays chips, but they make their own dipping sauce that was good. They have plenty of beer options, and they great daily specials (I think it was a beer like Budweiser, burger, and fries for only $8!).Interesting Browns and Guardians themed decor. And the waitress ended up being very friendly and social. I definitely would recommend even if the reviews are lower than I'd generally go for.

We ended up here after our original choice was not serving food yet. We were visiting the area and this place came highly recommended by reviews, however they recently changed menu. We showed up when they had an Elvis impersonating show so it was packed. The food was disappointing and did not live up to reviews.

Came here on a recent weekday to settle a golf match (don't ask) and the winner paid for the meal...which was me! When we arrived the place was basically empty, but it quickly filled up with "regulars" and almost all the bar seats were packed!Had heard good things about their burgers (this was a Monday, but the "hot tip" day for burgers is actually their Tuesday special), so that is what were ordered along with tater tots.Their cheeseburger was pretty tasty, although a bit overcooked compared to the medium-rare I ordered. I asked for it with American cheese, sliced pickles and grilled onions (which were just warmed up red onions, not actually caramelized onions). Their tots however, were perfectly crispy and plentiful!The menu had a bunch of other "pub grub" favorites, which I'd definitely try next time through.

Local dive bar that was hopping. It's a long bar extending way into their establishment. The bartender who apparently had the section I was in missed changing my potato to fries and I was about done with dinner by the time they arrived. I had their Sat steak special which for $12 what are you expecting. It was thick but a lot of fat and gristle. I'd be happy to spend more for better quality. Apparently it's a hit here as they were flying out of the kitchen with steak dinners. Salad was OK with lettuce shaved lime for a rabbit cage. I wouldn't go back for the steak special.

Came in on thanksgiving morning before a flight for a traditional Christmas ale. Loved the neighborhood vibe and big crowd at 930am. Special treat with fireball rimmed Christmas ale!!

new menu sucks - this is a Tavern - not a "Portabelli Caprese basil pesto " place. Will start eating elsewhere.

Saturday steak dinner is always a hit. Tuesday burger and pint. And the chip dip!!! Yum yum!!

Service sucks. No one wants to work and if you ask them to they start yelling at you. Asked for another beer and she told me "F' off" because she was busy. Do not go, go somewhere else

All-around great place to eat and grab a beer or drink. They have an extensive happy hour menu, and the servers are top-notch.
