The Clevelander

I always go when they're super busy, but it's still a fantastic place. Even when I'm waiting for my drink, people around me make meForget how long it could have taken. I always meet amazing people here from Cleveland, but it definitely seems like a lot of towners find out about this place because I've met a lot of them, too. I've been here more than 20 times and haven't complained once yet! Oh, and the food is AMAZING!

Son and I decided to eat here since it was close to the ballpark. Place was pretty packed 3 hours before game time. The staff looked overwhelmed! We ordered the pepper jack cubes appetizer, the Bernie Bernie burger, and the buttermilk chicken sandwich. The burger and chicken sandwich were solid. The pepper jack cubes appetizer was HUGE. It honestly was big enough for four people to get their fill and they were outstanding. I'd like to have our tater tots cooked a little longer so they were more crispy, but my son thought they were fine. Our server was good, but he was trying to wait on too many tables and at times took too long to refill our drinks. Our order took quite some time to arrive (about 15-20 minutes), again I think because they were very busy. Was disappointed that they were out of their stout on tap and also a lager wasn't available. I think all of the "negatives" were a result of back to back huge crowds at the Indians game. They probably would be on top of it if one visited during mid week or a non-baseball day.

They have a great outdoor seating arrangement, you'll just have to look past the debris all over the place on the ground . Went here before the game and ordered a hamburger and some tots. Hamburger had no seasoning on patty however, was tasty with grilled onions, mushrooms and cheese. Tater tots were also not seasoned. Our tea came with a floating inch long and slimy object. Waitress brought another tea. Probably one of the best outdoor seating places downtown. Food is ok and we had a friendly waitress. The restaurant removed our drinks from the bill without being asked.

The male bartender upstairs made up drink prices. I had 3 beverages and every one was more than the last. At my last drink I gave the bartender $10 and he just said thanks and never returned. II can't say I won't return here but I'll definitely be on the lookout for that crook of a bartender.

This is a standard bar and grill type of place, its not horrible, its not the best. Its simply next to the stadium where you would grab a burger and beer (or whatever your choice is). This is not the place where you would go out of your way to go to, but you would go simply because its there.

I was on my way to a Cleveland Monsters game and stopped in here for a bite. I ordered the black and bleu burger and was very glad I did. The meat was seasoned perfectly, and the burger was cooked exactly how I requested. Half a pound of beef on that thing. Oh my, was it tasty and filling. The fries were good also, but I had little room left to eat them all. The price was very reasonable too. Service and drinks were outstanding. We sat at the bar and had a wonderful experience. Everything was so good we did it again 2 days later. This will be our go-to place when we are downtown.

Went prior to a Monsters game for lunch. The ambiance is what you'd expect for a sports bar some tvs with sports on. We ordered a Muni lot which was quite good and a chicken sandwich we felt the chips were better than the fries. The chips were fried and pretty good. The staff was as attentive as she could be due to a schedule error but she did quite well for having the entire house and bar to herself. We would go again.

We visited the Clevelander on the recommendation of someone in our group just before the Guardians played on a Sunday afternoon. We arrived just before noon and easily found a table, but it was filling up fast. Choose to eat inside as it was less crowded. Our server was very quick to respond upon our arrival, taking our drink orders. They came out just as quick. Shortly thereafter he returned for our dinner order. I chose the build a burger with all the veggies, Swiss cheeses and a side salad. We also had an appetizer of fried pickles. Another in our party ordered an appetizer of cheese poppers plus their dinners. The pickles came out and there was enough for about 8 people. A very large basket. The staff were slow on appetizer plates but eventually we got them. Very tasty. The cheese poppers didn't make it out then. Our dinner orders were next. We reminded the waiter about the poppers and he tried to rectify the issue and did not charge us for them. My sandwich was very good. Nice presentation on the plate with the side salad. When speaking with the others, there dinners were very good also. The Clevelander is a good place to eat before a game with a very good, friendly staff. Just a few miscues and it would have been perfect.

Tried to have some drinks and dinner during MNF. We sat for 20 minutes and were never acknowledged. Got up and left.

Female bartender was friendly. A male employee came through changed channels on 2 tvs we were watching and ignored our request to keep one on the game we were watching. I got the impression that they had their own agenda that did not include any patrons.
