This is our go to place for great comfort food. It's a nice local bar that has great tacos, burgers, wings. The staff is great. The place is clean, the beer is cold and it's very reasonable price. So, we decided to come to here for lunch after my boss kept talking up the place. He used to come up here with his biker buddies for cheap beer and food. The place looks like a sketchy, rundown house from outside and there's a gravel parking lot and entrance at the rear. First impressions walking in...DIVE BAR. The place is really dark and dingy and there was one guy at the bar drinking can after can of America's finest, Busch Light and one lady working the bar and kitchen. She was nice and welcoming as we sat down at the bar and placed our drink orders.I don't think they expect customers to come here for lunch. Their limited menu that day consisted of a burger or chicken sandwich, fries (loaded or regular), onion rings, wings, or mozzarella sticks. That's it. She claimed that they were redoing the menu for next week and bringing in a new chef, and this was not a good representation of their food. She also said she just turned on the fryer, so it'll be a bit until it's ready to use.I wanted to order a chicken sandwich, but she politely said she didn't know how to cook that, so I ordered a burger and fries and 5 spicy BBQ wings. Two of my coworkers ordered burgers too and one just ordered wings and onion rings. She actually asked how we wanted our burgers done, which was surprising. We did have to wait quite a while for our food, but the burgers eventually came out one by one. It was actually cooked medium like I asked and the cheese was perfectly melted, but it was just average at best. They kinda skimped on fries too. (You'll know why if you keep reading) My wings came out shortly after the burgers and they were actually good wings...typical bar wings. She told my coworker who ordered the onion rings and wings that someone had left the one freezer open last night, so the onion rings had thawed and were too mushy to fry after attempting to do so. She asked if he wanted anything else and he said just a basket of fries, but she said they were out of fries. Wtf? So she offered him some mozzarella sticks on the house. There wasn't anything left to pick from anyway. Lol I give her credit though...she really did try and did her best for being the only employee there. We finished eating, paid and left. As we walked to the car, all thinking the same thing, one guy asked "WHO'S idea was it to come here?"We got back to the office to let our other coworkers know that we survived. Well, maybe 20 minutes later, I started feeling funny and I knew exactly what it was. I have a shellfish allergy and I feel this way if I have more than a little bit of it. I think the Chestnut must have fried shrimp or something in the same fryer as the fries and wings and I was feeling the effects from it. I just kept drinking water nonstop to dilute my stomach, so I was ok by the end of the day. My allergy isn't life-threatening or anything, just uncomfortable.Well, that was an experience of a lifetime and we don't plan to return...EVER.
