We love this homey adorable little bakery, the staff is very kind and helpful and the cakes are delicious! They help me create a cake for my son's first birthday that was construction theme. They helped me with the vision and worked with the construction toys that I brought in. I definitely recommend! They made us the cute little smash cake and we just added the trucks on top.

This charming bakery has a good variety of cookies, donuts, baked goods, biscotti, breads and cakes. That's just what's in their display case. There are also items available in the refrigerators/coolers too. So many delicious items to choose from. When I walked in, I was greeted and asked if I had any questions. Since this was my first time here, I ordered some baked goods to go and a hot coffee. I ate an iced sugar cookie with my coffee and the cookie was delicious. A good balance of icing to cookie. The baklava was also good. I ordered the coffee black, and it was very good--smooth taste. In my opinion, it didn't need cream or sugar. I also like that the fact that their coffee is served in a cup made from renewable resources. My family ate the other baked good I brought home and really enjoyed them. Their favorite items were the chocolate cream filled donut and chocolate cupcake. My spouse says the chocolate cream is not super sweet has a great chocolate flavor, and he loved both the cupcake and donut. I'll definitely go back here! The staff is hard-working, super nice and friendly. Delicious baked good and coffee!!!! Yummy!!!!!

I visited The Bake Shop on a Saturday morning before 9am during COVID 19. This is a review of my first visit which was a to go order. The Shop. The Shop is a settled in a little nook of a forest covered valley. It's country styled home design and decoration and wrap around porch are a perfect fit for the peaceful setting. I imagine the chairs on the front porch get a lot of use during the warmer months and if I lived nearby you would probably see me sitting on those chairs on early Saturday mornings. It looks like such a relaxing and peaceful place to enjoy a sweet treat and coffee. The parking lot which appears to be shared with an adjacent shop seems adequate. If you are handicapped or have difficulty going up steps know that to get to the front entrance that you will have to ascend just a few steps. (I am not aware of a ramp, but there may be one). The shop inside is very small and there is not much room to move around in. Next to the main area is a small sitting area with a couple small tables and chairs. While waiting to get my order there were several older gentleman at tables enjoying each other's presence and their coffee and donuts. There is enough space to remain 6 feet apart to comply with COVID protocols but it's barely 6 feet. I would say only about 2 maybe three customers can order donuts at the same time and remain 6 feet apart. The front area is small. It has that old house feel which to me is relaxing and peaceful. The display of donuts is small as well which makes me wonder if what they have out on display is all they have or if they continue to bake all day or have more in the back somewhere. They have a small variety of donuts, decorated cookies, and sweet treats. I saw a variety of frosted cake donuts and cream filled donuts. There were also Thanksgiving decorated cookies, cakes and an assortment of macaroons. Drip coffee was available. I'm not sure who roasted the beans. There was a refrigerator with cold beverages as well. The front counter had a plexiglass shield propped up on it to protect the customer and worker when money is exchanged and food and drink are passed to the customer. The staff wash their hands between customers. I can't remember if they were wearing face masks--I guess I just assumed they were wearing them. Notices where on the front door informing customers of the mask mandate. Now for the donuts! I ordered a maple cream stick and sour cream donut. The icing was delicious. I didn't notice too much difference in the icing from other shops, except this icing had that local bake shop feel to it. Like many cream sticks the icing was inserted at both ends of the stick. This means the cream doesn't go all the way across the donut and so the middle part has no cream. Only one bake shop I know of in Akron does it differently. Depending on what you prefer you may choose one over the other. The dough was somewhat dense and moist--more dense than a shop I'm thinking of right now. It was somewhat fluffy as well. I don't know how to describe the taste but vanilla comes to mind. The sour cream donut was disappointing because it wasn't thick enough. If you look at my pictures you'll see that the soft part is equal in portion to the crispy part. It was a typical sour cream donut. The staff were friendly. I believe The Bake Shop is family owned because I drove all the way up to the shop one weekend and to my surprise I saw a sign that said they were on vacation for the week. So, if you have to travel some distance to the shop you may want to call ahead to see if they are open or maybe check their Facebook page for an announcement of a closing. If I was a local you'd probably see me there every Saturday morning on the porch or at a table inside enjoying the good donuts and cup of coffee. The setting and country home style feel make it a relaxing and peaceful place to spend a Saturday morning with neighbors, family or even a stranger.

Wow, I love this little bake shop. I've been coming to this bakery for 25yrs. I have never had a bad experience. But I do have a ton of great memories. My best memories are with my dad before he passed. This bakery always brings a smile to my face.

Saturday mornings are for donuts! In search of a new spot to try, my husband and I discovered (on Yelp of course) this cute little shop and decided to make the trek (we live closer to Cleveland). Thankfully, it was well worth the drive! It's tucked away in a cute, woodsy pocket in Ghent with easy parking. The lady in the shop was so friendly as we picked out our assortment. We tried a sour cream cake donut, maple cream stick, chocolate custard filled donut, strawberry jelly donut, and a pecan maple pastry. The donuts were some of the best we've ever had (just your basic old fashioned donuts made really well), and the pastry was one of the yummiest breakfast pastries ever! It's only been a couple weeks but we're already eager to go back!

Had a few minutes to kill before church, so I hopped on the Yelp, knowing that Fairlawn is suspiciously low on bakeries. Turns out that The Bake Shop in Ghent was exactly four minutes from church, *and* open on Sunday! The bakery is built in an old home on the ground floor. Probably built in the late 1800's, early 1900's if I had to guess. Very cute space. (Next door to Lanning's if you know the area). Like most niche bakeries, they didn't have a lot of anything, but they did have a little of everything. I sampled a few different items, including a cheese danish, traditional sugar donut, biscotti, and a macaron. Also got a cup of their vanilla swirl coffee. Everything was really tasty, and very reasonably priced. The woman running the show was very knowledgeable about all their different options (of which there were many). She had a teenaged helper who was quick to get the little stuff that was needed too. I ended up sitting on their front porch, where they had a rocking chair and little bistro table. Overall, a great first experience. I'm actually pretty stoked to know I've got a place to go to before or after church for a sweet treat. If you are anywhere in West Akron/Fairlawn, I'd say this is worth the trip!

Delicious pies, breads, and cookies! *The cakes are hands down a family favorite*Also, they serve lunch! Great chicken salad on a croissant. Also, yummy tuna and egg salad. There are a few small tables if you want to eat there. Just note, no bathrooms.

I drove here special at 6am for birthday donuts for a coworker. I asked for cream sticks and was given a grumpy look. The staff member gave me the 4 I asked for to be taken to one event, but then when I asked for 2 more, she said no. She didn't give a reason. She just repeated no. She then sold one to the one other person who arrived at the bakery next. Two of the four had very sloppy icing on top and all four were completely different sizes. I appreciate that they are one of the few shops around open this early, but I was disappointed in the service.

I just bought this today. It cost $6, and because it was dark inside, I couldn't see closely enough to identify the mold. I don't trust the rest of the items, which totaled $13, so I have no clue what to do. I have never seen this before. I will be sure to avoid this store at all costs. This is beyond unacceptable, and probably would have gotten whoever ate it sick.

First time visiting and we were not disappointed. The place was so cute! I picked up a variety of things for my husband for Father's Day and everything was delicious! Best Apple fritter I've ever tasted. The lady working was very friendly and answered all my questions and explained all the treats. Will be back 100%
