Where do I begin..... We met a few friends at this Gem of an establishment last night and to be honest with you it was a pleasant surprise. I've been by the place a million times, never stopping to check it out. But after lastnight, we will definitely be returning. Your typical dive bar atmosphere. Neons glowing in every direction, beer signs everywhere, pool table, gambling games and your everyday drunk sitting at the end of the bar. A perfect change from trendy snobby bars I've grown accustomed to.**If your looking for a food review I can't help you here. (Although the chicken wings at the next table smelled and looked amazing)We arrived shortly after 8pm. Packed bar with a couple of booths available. We walked directly to the bar to order our first drinks. While waiting to order a woman over the age of 50 stumbled and fell to the ground not spilling an ounce of her drink. That very second I knew I was going to have a great night. The service was acceptable considering the amount of business at the time. We grabbed a booth with our friends and started the night. After several rounds of beers and shots we decided to play with the touch tunes (Playing music on the juke box thru you mobile device) After all was said and done I cashed out expecting my tab to be around $65. I was pleasantly surprised when it was $40 even. Cheap Beer, Cheap Shots and a overall great atmosphere. Your typical neighborhood bar doing all the right things. Worth stopping in to grab a few beer and watch a game.

WOW this place was bad. Honestly I don't even know where to begin. Now granted, I don't mind dive bars, but when the whole bar looks like a gigantic mens' restroom that hasn't been cleaned with bleach in years...well...yah.The table my sister and I sat down at was sticky. Let's hope it wasn't crawling with diseases. I don't feel like getting an STD from a booth table. The waitress we had, despite there being two and the bar itself not being very large, was hit-or-miss. She got our drinks right but that's about it. Not to mention the Bloody Mary that my sister got tasted like all of tomato juice. There was no vodka in that and I can tell you, as a gay, I know my drinks and I know when there is booze missing or non-apparent. Tragic. I mean, when you can't even make a good bloody mary...please, do us all a favor and go back to bartending school. It's not that difficult. I'm sure any Congressman/woman could make a better drink than they did and that's not saying much for them.Despite it all, my sister and our friend ordered food. I was curious since I knew I'd be writing a review on every place that I go. Needless to say...cheese fries. Shouldn't be that hard right? Hell, all ya need is a few potatoes, some olive oil, sea salt, a mandolin slicer, chives, bacon crumbles and shredded cheese, yes? I mean, THEY FUCKED UP CHEESE FRIES SO BADLY my sister, whom eats nearly anything, picked at a few and left the whole thing. The cheese was the fake, waxy, plastic cheese. I mean, when your business is SO CHEAP you don't even use real shredded cheese...god save the mother-f-ing queen. Our friend, whom ordered an appetizer platter, told our server she was highly allergic to tomatoes. HIGHLY. As in she couldn't even kiss anyone who had eaten tomatoes or her face swells up allergic. Well, her platter comes out, looking just as disgusting and as fake microwave food as my sisters...WITH MARINARA sauce and other tomato-y sauces in a cup on the side. Really? It's not that hard to follow directions...and you should be paying more highly of attention considering your customer just told you they have a food allergy. Not to mention, it was all quick bar food...it should've taken no more than 20 min in a fryer...even if they had used real ingredients. Trust me I've had cheese fries at multiple bars before but never have been so disgusting. (I'll post a pic later) We waited probably 40 min. The one other waitress, we told her how terrible the bloody mary was and they took it off. I almost walked out without paying it was that bad. And I've only done that once in my life. Never will be back...disgusting. Would cringe to see what their kitchen looked like. Stay away!

Walking in, an ordinary person (and to be honest-even me) would think it's your average dive bar but supposedly to locals in mentor- it's an end all be all. I was here for a friends birthday party and I was shocked to see how everyone knew each other. I've never seen anything like it where anyone that comes in through the door, people knew on a first name basis. Waitresses knew kids because they were cafeteria lunch ladies at school. It was actually really nice seeing the close knit community. With a big crowd, the waitresses made sure to come around a few times to get our food and drink orders in even as newcomers were joining. Food came out quick nonetheless and was really good. Not your average bar food choice, I ordered the chicken parm and the chicken was cooked perfectly. There was just enough marinara sauce where it wasn't soaked and wasn't dry. The atmosphere in general is great with good music, a jukebox, and a pool table to kill some time. The city of mentor is doing quite well for themselves with having Spuddy's in town.

Not the place for service. A fellow Veteran and I decided to try this place. The food was so-so and the service was VERY slow and the wait staff was rude!!Rude to the point where the waitress followed us' out to the parking lot and told us both to go "F" ourselves and WE HATE VETS dont come back. I have no idea as to why and I am glad I got it all on tape.

I went for lunch today. Ordered hamburger and onion rings. Well onion rings were from frozen batch I could tell and were disgusting. I actually told the waitress (when she finally came around to collect the tab) and she said "sorry about that." The hamburger was not very much better but wait-----it took almost 30 minutes to get all this junk. Quake and Lube is far much better and fresher. Yes, this is a dive bar I've discovered in reading reviews, but if you want to attract new customers wouldn't you treat them a little better instead of ignoring them. I mean after all the older crowd will no longer be around to support you soon. I had to leave and waited and waited and waited for the tab to arrive--I almost was ready to leave but do not like doing that, but I had an appointment I had to keep. Finally they arrived and I paid and got out of there to never return.

Food is always good, but don't even waste your time coming here in the evening on a weekend with your friends. Total local dive bar, where regulars are always taken care of first at the bar, and the bartenders don't even bother to look your way. Spent almost 20+ minutes waiting for a drink. Service is rude, and the intel is a bit sketchy. More of an older crowd, but filled with short-tempered barflies. Be sure to expect a fight or two on the weekends.
