Skyway Drive-In

The Skyway vs Swenson's battle continues. I live out of state now and haven't been back to the buckeye state in over 10 years. Swensons and Skyway have always been a standard go to choice in NE Ohio for a great burger!I was in town this August and went to the Fairlawn locations. So the first thing I can tell you is Skyway changed their bun. It's not the same, and it makes a huge difference in my opinion. The bun is bigger, has sesame seeds on it and taste bland. It was like I got a mouthful of bread. The meat tasted good, about the same as I remember, but paired with that bun it was just off. Swensons was great! has that same tasty bun and delicious beef, cheese and sweet onion flavor that remain outstanding!Swensons is the winner by far!Now if you like big, thick juicy $10.00 burgers, you need to go to Whitey's in Bath. I used to live in Bath, and this place was, and remains a top favorite in all of the USA. Whitey's used to be like a big house converted to a restaurant. Now it's a big place with sand volleyball courts and outdoor dining. Oh, the power of a good burger and great service!

Great Food. Thank You! Recently relocated and food always smelled good when walking my husky. Decided to try it today. Door Dash and Skyway offered quick and quality service. We both approve of the great food!

Really surprised at how good it was. Stopped in on a Wednesday just before 4p and timed it before any crowd at all. Staff was friendly and responsive and food was quickly served to my car. Ordered a simple cheeseburger, fries and root beer. It all was great. Nice fresh bun but not just any white bread bun either, it was great texture and flavor. Burger patty was good too. But the fries were the best. Must've gotten them at the perfect timing out of the fryer. Golden crunchy exterior and super fluffy inside with a good potato flavor. Pic doesn't do it justice. I'm not a local to Akron and I know Swenson's is prevalent, but I tried Swenson's twice while in town and was disappointed each time. Skyway is the place I will try again.

Food tasted great but boy did I have to run to the bathroom about an hour later. Not sure if it was food poisoning or just that I hadn't had fast food in a bit.

Came here tonight at 8:00 they don't close till 9:00 and couldn't get anybody to wait on me tried calling the skyway phone number in green twice they hung up on me twice they didn't want to come out and wait on me cuz it was close to closing time finally I laid on my horn and she came out and said yeah can I take your order it's close to closing is what she said to me so she took my order and I waited won't be coming back to this location again they hide in there and don't want to wait on you when it's an hour before closing I think it's really rude and inconsiderate lost a customer I used and I come there all the time

My family and I were car-shopping nearby when I opened my Yelp app and saw a Yelp ad for Skyway. My Mom and I were sooo happy -- we used to go to the one in Stow when it was open. We're not familiar at all with Akron, so we were happy campers to see this old-fashioned goodness was just 1/2 a mile away. Skyway has been around since the 1950's, and truly, the old school roots are what makes it so much fun. You pull up (lights for service!) and place your order with the guy or gal who runs out to your car. The menu is full of good ol' favorites. Burgers, fries, floats and malts, you name it. The intergenerational crowds of cars around you really speak to this. In the words of my Mom, "it's so hard to find a good malt anymore" -- and Skyway has that authentic, fizzy, rich flavor that is super crave-worthy. No one understands the art of the malt anymore. NO ONE. Shoutout to Skyway for keeping it alive.The menu is inexpensive, so just go ahead and treat yourself to whatever you want. Sauerkraut balls, fries, potato teesers, zucchini sticks... why not! Look, if you've made it this far, you're clearly not worried about calories. You can't go wrong with any of the burgers. They cook them with a little sugar, which is what makes them special. Yum. Just yum. Okay, Skyway, you've proved why you're still around. We'll be back.

Order a chili. When they brought me the chili the container was a little past the half way full. They only one size chili. I asked them if they would put some more chili in it. They said no that's the amount you got. For 3.99 that's not enough maybe a child's portion. If you want more you need to pay another 3.99. (7.98 for a serving of chili.) Never order chili again.

Have been going for years and they never disappoint. their fried mushrooms are delicious.

Always great!! Been coming here for years and recommend the double cheeseburger with everything and a hot fudge shake!
