We have been looking for a decent Asian restaurant since moving to the area. I know we are spoiled coming from the West Coast. However, Shinano Japanese restaurant was a very nice surprise. For an appetizer we tried the hamachi nigiri, which did not disappoint. For entrees we had shoyu ramen and chicken tempura curry. The broth of the ramen was authentic and warmed our bellies. The curry (I ordered medium spicy) was delicious and mouth watering. While they do not serve alcohol, youare welcome to BYOB, which I prefer since restaurants don't always offer the type of alcohol I like and it takes me forever to decide! The Cab that we brought paired nicely with our meal. If you get there before 6 pm and want alcohol, Miles Market is next door. Also the Shell gas station sells beer and wine. The restaurant is family owned and operated. Very knowledgeable and if you're like us and know your Japanese food, they have a Japanese menu! We will definitely be back to sample some of their other dishes!

Service here was super fast and attentive. Nice and quiet vibe on a Saturday night. Sushi here absolutely slapped and I am a harsh sushi critic! Will be back.

My favorite restaurant in the Cleveland area. I'd be devastated if they closed even temporarily. It's a hidden gem that's not even located in a large city. You can't go wrong with whatever you order. Their sushi and appetizers are all delicious and the presentation is beautiful. All their staff, most importantly their sushi chefs, are mostly Japanese. The wait staff are polite and the prices are fair. Even if they raised prices, I'd happily pay the extra just to dine here again.

Love coming to this sushi place. Very casual environment but high quality food. The service is always friendly and remembers me coming in before. BYOB but makes it cheaper so that's great.

I'm from Japan and this is probably the best Japanese food in Cleveland. It's better than Shuhei (2nd best) and everything else in Cleveland isn't real Japanese food/isn't ran by Japanese ppl. Would recommend for the food!

Shinano Sushi Bar & Japanese Restaurant is an understated masterpiece. No heavy ornamented pictures on the walls and no Koi in a pool or the like.It simply concentrates its art to meticulous attention to detail and the delicate blending of flavors. My wife and I, culinary identical twins, always order the same thing. We decided upon the Bento Box with the tempura chicken and shrimp tempura combo. Our bubbly, courteous waitress was a bundle of enthusiasm. The lemonade was there in a flash, followed by a delicious Wonton Ko soup. Besides setting up your stomach, a poorly constructed soup can sour the mood. Most astounding was the portion of the box. Artistically laid out in the limiting confines of the box, you are delighted with a Japanese smorgasbord, excuse the strained metaphor, but your taste buds will forget the semantic faux pas and applaud the chef. I bet you can't eat it all and you'll make the waitress pack it all up for tomorrow's supper. It's that good!!Walking to pay your reasonable bill, it's nice to have neighborly "Goodbye" by the owner. Real small town warmth with "You'al come back... You hear?!!!Back again.... We never really left!Dr. R. Sevayega
