a variety of bottles of wine

I judge wine & spirit stores by two things: (1) Does the owner have an extensive working knowledge of wine, spirits, and everything related, (2) Do they carry a broad, high-quality selection of products? Shaker Wines & Spirits wins on both accounts, particularly #1. Anything you need, anything you want to know about wine, beer or any other beverage, Gene has you covered. He's a true expert. You can safely ignore the 1-star rating left by a disgruntled "Cleveland" Whiskey seeker. I agree with the owner, this Cleveland Whiskey things is an annoying "me-too" trend. I hope it passes soon.

The owner and employees are all knowledgeable and helpful. This is definitely a good place to stop if you are looking for advice on liquor and wine. The prices are in line with what I see everywhere else and they have a good selection of liquor. This place is not as well stocked as Warehouse Beverage on wine, but they still sell quality merchandise and have never recommended me anything that I didn't like. In other words, there isn't a whole lot to choose from, but what is available is all either pretty good or spectacular. The beer section is thin, but who cares, it just isn't that type of store.

Ok do you have a sense of humor and Love knowledgeable customer service ? This is your place. This guy knows wine and has opinions. rThey are good opinions. He listened to what I needed and told me the truth. It was not the most expensive truth but it was the best.

Beware! This guy charges a 3.5% fee to use a credit card and gives only 5% discount on 6 bottles when every other wine shop I frequent offers the usual 10% -- and doesn't mention either at the point of purchase. Not going back.

I generally like most wine stores, and know what I'm looking for. On Christmas week, I went in and asked for a bottle of Pinot noir under $15, since that was what was asked for, and usually I can find something half decent. The first response I received was a grumbled "why bother?" Nice. I won't be back.

We go out of our way to support local, small businesses like this one. And in the past, we've had good experiences here. We were excited to purchase the newly released "Cleveland" whiskey, and thought of this store first. When we called, the person we spoke to was rude and very short. He said "I'm tired of all of these calls, to me it's all hype. I only make a dollar on each bottle sold. It will be available on Tuesday. We called back on Tuesay and the same person said "Yeah, we'll have it by twelve, there's already people in line. I can't wait for this to be over. Frankly, I wish the box would just get broken. You're better off going to Giant Eagle." So we did. And so we will in the future. Thanks for the tip!

My husband and I had a terrible experience with a gentleman we believe to be the owner. Neighbors had given us a $100 gift certificate for watching their bird over Memorial Day weekend. My husband and I went a couple of months later to look at wines. When I presented the gift certificate to the cashier she looked at it and said she would have to talk with the manager because it wasn't completed fully. The line for date of expiration and purchaser was left blank by the person who completed the gift certificate. The manager went on to say it was his signature at the bottom but he had no recollection of completing it. Basically he said we could not use it and kept asking for our neighbors last name to which I replied "I don't know their last name" (I don't since we have only lived in the neighborhood about a year and we are only on a first name basis-does he know the last name of every neighbor on his street? And what bearing does this have on his lack of properly completing the certificate?) I stated that it was unfortunate that my neighbors paid $100 for a gift certificate that we cannot use and he said with an attitude it was unfortunate that I did not know their last name. I told him he was being extremely rude and walked out. My husband who had gone outside to get his phone which had our neighbors full name in contacts went in to talk with the manager who stated to my husband that he didn't care that he had upset me. We will be giving the gift certificate back to our neighbors with a big thank you but no thank you. I hope they can use it or get their money back. I will NEVER enter this establishment again.

I was given a gift certificate from a colleague to use at this location. When I tried to use it the owner accused me of providing a forgery and refused to honor it. The owner is very arrogant and rude as evidenced by the fact that he parks his Mercedes-Benz SLK right in front of the store everyday. Forget your customers who are carrying out heavy bottles and cases of wine. I would not recommend supporting this business.
