Sauce the City

The whole wings for me were fired to perfection and the BBQ sauce was so so good. I am going back. I have been driving north and east from CH to get perfectly battered fried wings smothered in delicious sauce (Hot Sauce, Whitmore's, Open Pit, Mt. Pleasant, Kim's ect.) since '89. Now in the '23, I can drive south to the burbs and get great fried whole wings smothered in BBQ sauce.

It was okay. I ordered the four wings (lemon pepper ranch) and I got double fries and a water. The staff was nice. He initially gave me the wrong order so I had to go back in. When he gave me my order there were only three wings. He corrected it and gave me 5. The wings and fries gave me it was time to change the grease vibes but the fries were hot and seasoned well. The wings were okay.... I could barely taste the lemon pepper. Might give them another shot on another day

Ordered carryout -- two chicken sandwiches and a kids chicken fingers with mac and cheese. They were out of the max and cheese so didn't get to try that. We had the cilantro Buffalo and Cleveland hot sandwiches. The cilantro Buffalo was drowning in sauce, which might be what you're looking for, but next time I'll stick with the Cleveland hot. Chicken was fried perfectly.

I've wanted to try this place since they moved in last year. The old Ohio City location was just too far away. So this is a review of my first (of many to come!) visit. The location is small and unassuming with terrible parking situation. (Tip: park far away and walk here). At lunch time, it was busy with lots of people waiting for their food with one person at the register. He was nice and suggested I try the Mexican street corn as my side. So I did! Then I chose to get the Cleveland hot chicken sandwich with coleslaw to go. After waiting about 15 minutes, I got my lunch, hot and ready. The chicken sandwich is actually about four thin breaded chicken tenders covered in a slightly hot sauce. I think a 3/10 rating instead of its labeled 7/10 rating would fit it better. The breading was good and covered nice, fresh chicken meat. I appreciated the attempt at topping with coleslaw although I wish there was more. The bun was better quality than anything at a fast food place. The street corn was nice and I enjoyed the spices on it. I wish there was less sauce as the corn was drenched in a sauce that didn't really add any flavor to it. Just empty calories. Overall, give this place a shot! The price is decent, although not incredible but there is something special here.

Definitely stop by to try their various chicken sandwiches or their phill cheesesteak!! The sandwiches are HUGE and the cheesesteak sooo satisfying. All their food hits the spot but doesn't leave you feeling lethargic afterward. Also, don't sleep on the salad!! The pickled onions combined with peaches and feta is soooooo good!! Probably one of the best salads I've ever had. Would def come back for just the salad.

Excellent food quality, and friendly staff. The sandwich was voted #1 in Ohio and definitely lived up to its reputation! The portions were large--we got two meals out of the hot chicken sandwich! Will definitely go back.

A great place run by a friendly, conscientious owner. Service was outstanding. The food is excellent. I had a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich with fries. The sandwich was great and the fries were done perfectly (crispy outside, softer center). The establishment is clean, roomy and offers limited seating, since this is primarily a take-out restaurant.

Solid food. Their "most popular" chicken sandwich was just okay. The kale slaw was a different taste change of pace as opposed to a regular Cole slaw. Their "house" sauces could've been better. Fries were fresh and hot and didn't seem store bought but I could be wrong. We ordered some wings and they were just okay because they weren't uniformly breaded as certain areas had no breading while other areas were breaded. Also we ordered them with the sauce on the side but the sauce just tasted like Franks Red Hot hot sauce. Also the fact that the wings weren't rolled in any sauces exposed the fact that the wings were soggy and soaking with grease like a sponge. It's like after maybe PAR FRYING them the grease wasn't hot enough that when they called themselves reheating them in the grease it just soaked up the grease like a sponge instead of making them hot and crispy with a nice crunch on the outside. Albeit greasy and not uniformly coated they were okay or maybe we were just hungry and were glossing over problems? They had a red and blue frozen drink that were both meh. The worst thing we had was the MACARONI & CHEESE. It was just yellow colored noodles with ZERO FLAVOR. I should've known it wasn't going to be good be most places that make their Mac and cheese unctious, soulful, ooey, gooey, and creamy will make this side a PREMIUM SIDE, won't include it in a combo, or make it an UPCHARGE. Not this place, they are MORE THAN GLAD to include Mac and cheese in any and every combo and they can't wait to get rid of this stuff. It was seriously inedible! The polish boy was solid though. I'm an out of towner but folks in the Cleveland area know about this spot and its other locations and tons of folks there has co-signed on it. To me it wasn't bad but it wasn't great either and maybe we just caught on a bad day but overall it's solid and you should give em a try.

Delicious d'ete chicken sandwich with mini peach feta salad on the side $15. New place, no room to dine in. Plenty of food options from tenders to wraps and salads. Lots of spice level choices and even ones for wimps like me! Not badly priced at all.
