Sal & Al's Diner

Very Interesting location. This place has it all, it seems. Pizza, Burgers, Ice Cream parlor, & Syrian...seriously. The decor is just as diverse as the food offerings: a mix of Diner/Soda Shoppe, Hippie Tie Dye, a tribute to Chicago in one corner & NY on the back wall. We were sat & waited almost 20 mins before our waitress came over. Food was good however was not what we ordered. Kitchen offered to correct the issue but we were not interested in waiting any longer. Daily special: Noodles & Cabbage was def a saving grace.

Genuinely one of the best meals I've had in a considerable amount of time. Super quick service matched with a perfect diner atmosphere... how could you go wrong?! Absolutely delicious!!

Another visit to Sal and Al's and I remain pleased with the food and service here. Instead of my usual order (patty melt), I ordered a pulled pork sandwich with the spicier sauce and the fries. The sandwich was very good. The amount of pork was generous it was tender. The Texas Toast was grilled perfectly and the sauce was excellent. The French Fries were great and the bonus for me was the malt vinegar on the table.Service was OK, but not a good as in the past. I ordered a cup of paprikash soup. After waiting a while my sandwich was brought to the table, but no soup. I pointed this out and all the person delivering the sandwich (not our original server) said was "do you want me to bring one out?". No apology. I declined. I completely understand the issues faced by restaurants in staffing during this age of Covid. However, there were 3 severs working 6 tables of patrons at the time, so no excuses can be made.

The 50's decor is very nice and the servers work so hard to keep up with the crowds. Always welcomed by the staff and attentive to our needs. Big fan of the Big Bacon Double burger cooked perfectly. There are tons of ice cream , but I never make it to desert. You can't go wrong here. Would recommend

I stopped in for the Lorain County Best Burger Battle. Since I can only vote for one this review might be a bit more nitpicky than usual as I compare and decide a winner. First off, cute little diner with old school decor theme of cars and records. Also 5 stars for the service received. Our young server was personable, helpful, and patient. Reasonable prices too, the food however...The Pierogi Burger came with American cheese, a pierogi, bacon, grilled onion, and sour cream. You also got fries for $9.99. This burger was good. I liked the seasoned burger patty with secret spices (something red, paprika?), however it was not a fresh made patty. Loved the homemade cheese and potato pierogi, but it's not made there. They bring it in from some place in Cleveland. Bacon was crispy, bun was grilled and buttery, and I enjoyed having sour cream to moisten things up. Fresh cut fries are a bonus too. I just can't give this burger high marks when my favorite thing was the pierogi they didn't even make (didn't make the burger patty either). I would eat this burger again, but it has to rank in the middle. We also tried their Syrian Plate $13.99 which came with thick warm pita, red pepper hummus, rice, spinach pie, salad and a kibbeh. They hadn't made the kibbeh yet (disappointing) so we got an extra hummus to replace it. I was not a big fan of this dish and did not eat any of the leftovers. We got their Chicken Paprikash $11 to take home. No issues reheating this in the oven, but the dumplings were too mushy for me and neither of us really cared for the sauce in this dish either. I've just had better for both meals elsewhere. HOWEVER, I would give this place a second try as the service was great and I'd love to eat more of those pierogies! Cool that they have several different pierogi themed dishes.

We really enjoyed our meal here. Nothing fancy about it but the food was good, the service was good and it had a nice little small town vibe. Good place to take kids for a family meal. They have a nice menu with a good assortment of meals. We all enjoyed our meals and would gladly go back.

Great food and service. Prices are great. Try the pizza, burgers or pirogues. The decor has a diner feel. Great ice cream also.

This is a great restaurant with some Syrian flavors. The employees are nice and helpful. The food is timely, hot, and delicious. They have a unique menu of things that I've not seen anywhere else. If you like pierogies, they have several dishes with them. Try them. My current favorite is their cajun chicken sandwich. It is juicy, cheesy, and a punch of flavor. It comes with delicious french fries. Their pizza is amazing. They use a tasty cheese, the sauce is seasoned well, and the dough is delicious. My husband adores their chicken paprikash. Not something you see much anymore and they do it well. This restaurant is a definite recommend.

BEST FOOD EVER. This is by far the best food i've ever had. The pizza- where do i start. I don't know how they do it. The pizza was perfectly crispy but not cooked too well. The pepperoni was also crispy. The burgers- bombastic. Sammy say or bacon cheeseburger is my favorite. Pierogis- ohhh the pierogis. So cheesy. So good. 10/10 recommend. And bonus points for having the best ice cream connected right next door. The service is outstanding. Everyone is so friendly and sweet. The restaurant also gives off a 50s vibe which brings back some great memories from my days. Love this place!!
