Never knew Cleveland area let alone Ohio had a Kava Bar.I'd say pretty much a domino effect happened when a call came to my wife and to swing by and chat with one of the partners.Upon entering the establishment we were greeted if we needed a menu and did we know about Kava. My wife didn't so one partners spoke eloquently about Kava and Keatom.A few moments later I was taste testing and got hooked on a special they had for Cranberry Sour with Kratom. It was fabulous and definitely did as the partner said which is relax and calming effects on the individual. My wife enjoyed her drink all so much that we will be back as this is a great alternative to a traditional bar and without the nasty hangover.Cheers!

I first visited in July 2024 because I was in the area. I ordered a Lavender Earl Grey tea to-go (takeaway order). The tea was fine because I'm used to a stronger lavender flavour. I added a little sweetener that they had available (I think raw sugar) and took my tea to go.I got to sample a little Kava and Kratom upon walking in because I had never tried them before. The employee explained what they were to me because I had never heard of them. They are supposed to help with anxiety, stress, and mood. Kava is a root and Kratom comes from the leaves of a specific tree so both are essentially plants. After sampling them, both tasted very bitter to me so I didn't like it which is fine (haha). The Kava had a dirt or grainy texture and the kratom had a lighter but more bitter flavour. The employee did mention to me that both would taste bitter and earthy. I did not order any drinks with them upon sampling them but they sell an assortment of drinks that include Kava and Kratom.Customer service was friendly. If you like Kava and Kratom or want to try it then come visit this Sacred Waters Kava bar in Lakewood. It's not my preference. The male employee working told me that they used to be affiliated with the other Kava bar in Cleveland (North Olmsted location, I think) but they are no longer affiliated with that location as the business partners stopped working together. ****GOAL of 150 reviews in 2024- 69/150 total reviews in 2024- 719 total overall Yelp reviews- Reviewed on 18 July 2024

Randomly checked out this place on a whim after grabbing dinner across the street. This place has such cool vibes. I had never had kava before and didn't know much about it, but the staff did a great job explaining it and giving us a sample. They have a great menu of mixed drinks to choose from. I went with the chocolate peanut butter one and it was so good. Don't be freaked out when you kith gets a little numb from the Kava. It's totally normal and temporary. Not sure if it was truly the Kava or that combined with the friendly, relaxing environment, but I definitely felt a relaxing feeling wash over me. Will definitely check it out again. They also will artwork from local artists, which I always like to see.

The smooth criminal was good. Not sure I would try again as I don't know if the kava did anything for me

Sacred waters is just the place cleveland needs. A different holistic experience. Decorated very nicely making all feel comfy and welcome. Easy parking located in the back and spots on the street. Bartender Sarah wasn't as informative so I just went with the flow. I got a Tonga Kava Rita be warned it does make your tongue tingly we figured this out a few sips in. Surprise. My second drink was a make your own Blue lotus and cranberry. Nice and tart. I didn't think the drinks had any effect but I slept like a baby. I will be stopping by to grab more combinations. Nothing like a place with good vibes.

Sacred Waters is a fascinating place. I'm new to this big bold world of ethnobotanical teas and this was my first time in a kava bar. Sacred Waters is Ohio's only kava bar and serves cocktails, mocktails, coffee, tea, and kombucha. Kava is a plant from the South Pacific that's quite healthy and might relieve stress and have natural effects on the body. I'm a big fan of holistic things and was excited to try Kava! The inside is gorgeously decorated with comfortable and colorful vibes. I loved the bar seating area because the barista was super friendly and knowledgeable and very excited to talk to me about kava. For me, the kava had a strong, tart flavor to it that some might find bitter, but I often find that the healthiest things sometimes have unusual tastes.I ordered a kombucha and a coffee to go and both were excellent! Parking can be a little tricky here, so try to go on an "off" time and you'll have no issues grabbing a meter directly in front of the shop adjacent to the dollar store. I follow them on social media and see they often have community programming, which is a very cool way to meet new people over kava!

The teas we ordered tasted completely fine and service was great. My issue was that when being explained what Kratom was by the bartender it was explained as this completely natural herbal leaf thing. Upon basic research (afterwords when I was surprised by how much we felt affected by the Kratom) it is not safe and not recommended by the FDA. This is something I would have liked to know before ingesting and don't think it's right to hold this out as some completely natural ingredient : https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/prescription-drug-abuse/in-depth/kratom/art-20402171

Went there again tonight, I had my drink with sugar free strawberry and raspberry syrup. I like that they offer sugar free fruit flavorings, I think it pairs better with the botanical teas. They also have sugar free vanilla syrup, which would be perfect for their coffee menu. There was an open mic night going on. Very friendly, community vibe, some people I've seen there before. The kavatenders are also helpful in explaining the differences between the different menu items and making recommendations.
