Royal Buffet

I arrived at the restaurant right after they started serving dinner, which costs $14.99 on a weekday before tip and taxes (on the weekends, it costs $16.99).After the hostess seated me at a table that was right next to the indoor fountain, I proceeded to grab two plates and fill them with food: pieces of a California roll, salmon nigiri, eel & avocado nigiri, an egg roll, teriyaki chicken on a stick, lo mein, a Chinese donut, fried cream cheese wonton, frog legs, and mussels.Overall, the sushi wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. It's hard to mess up a California roll, and Royal Buffet's California roll was perfectly adequate. But the piece of salmon on my nigiri was thin and wasn't as delightfully fatty as the salmon you would get at a dedicated sushi restaurant. In short, your average buffet sushi experience.For the most part, Royal Buffet did great on the Chinese buffet staples. The egg roll was hot, crispy, and tasty as was the cream cheese wonton. I'm a sucker for mussels, and I was a sucker for Royal Buffet's mussels, which were fresh and plump. I also thought that the Chinese donut was pleasantly airy and just sweet enough. However, I was a little disappointed by the lo mein, which was kind of bland and in need of more sauce.But the frog legs - which were probably my favorite things at the buffet - easily made up for the lackluster lo mein. The frog legs had plenty of tender, juicy meat on them and were covered in a flavorful breading. I came back for seconds (and thirds).For future plates, in addition to frog legs, I loaded up on more mussels, honey chicken (which was sweet like a dessert and tasty), and General Tso's chicken, which was good but held very little spice, which was fine for my wimpy taste-buds but might disappoint people who like their General Tso's to have heat. I also got some hibachi steak and mushrooms, which were made to order.Finally, for dessert, I got some slices of watermelon and strawberry ice cream, which came in the form of a small Hershey's cup.

Good food, reasonable prices.Best items: noodles, rice and definitely the fried donuts.Not so hot: Veggie rolls were mushy, and cookies were bland.Conclusion: Would recommend, just choose wisely!

Very very disappointed with this place gave him another shot and our family was there so we're on two separate checks. We decided to sit next to our family and then they proceeded to charge us a 10% mandatory gratuity on my check as well as my family members checks. We were not together. There's a sign thing. Party is over eight. There's a mandatory gratuity, but we were a party of five. Again on a separate check not together with our other family that was there and the guy basically said to me oh well cause you're sitting together the charge applies.. which is not what the sign says.. and so combined with my other family members they scammed a $27 combined tip from us.. which is ridiculous since service only consisted of them only refilling 2 drinks..

Omg! The former New Chinatown Buffet has reopened under new owners and a renovated restaurant with a better and DELICIOUS choice of fabulous Chinese cuisine called ROYAL GRILL AND SUSHI BUFFET! Ambiance is quite spacious and comfortable with fabulous hospitality! There is a vast variety... Including SALMON, shrimp, baked fish, wings, fried bananas, delicious veggie dishes and Soo much more, INCLUDING an Hibachi Grill!! #YUM #SatisfiedCustomer

Nice place. Plenty of choices. Good service. BBQ grill could offer more choices of sauces and herbs

Food is lowkey not that good and a lot of stuff just tasted like nothing with different textures. I think the best tasting food there is the canned fruit but overall price is good for what you get and i like the atmosphere. The workers were really nice.

1st visit pleasant surprize...was craving Asian Lunch was 11.99 per person weekdays M to Th 11 am to 330 pm. DINNER was listed as 15.99 weekdays. We enjoyed the pepper steak, sesame balls, singapore noodles, stuffed shrinp, steamed buns (had custard inside), seafood casserole, many forms of chicken ie sweet and sour, w broccoli, nuggets, tenders, general tzu, shrimp chips, and gyoza. the char siu and chinese spare ribs were a little tough. The sushi was soft fresh but relied heavily on cream cheese. They also had a mongolian grill to order, staff was attentive...this was the cleanest buffet and bathrooms in a restaurant In a long time. They had steamed/poached flounder and salmon both very good. Nice dessert and fruit bar plus an extra plus they had ice cream in individual cups, had egg drop soup which was mild. My lips didnt go numb so they dont seem to use alot of MSG. Did miss a few favorite seafood items so will try coming once for dinner...missed black bean clams and mussels in particular. Nice environment, tables well spaced too. Near Regal Theater, Sams Club and LCCC so good traffic location.

I feel there was false advertisement for Thanksgiving. They only showed Turkey, not Thanksgiving dinner, so only extra of yams and cranberry is ok. potatoes would have been nice.Butttt! We got there at 5:30 and good thing the kids got turkey right away, that last carcass was picked over and was the last. The main thing advertised was gone by 6 pm. So many around us complaining too.At $16 per person, we should have gotten turkey. We weren't even offered 10% off. We did not ask.

Food, service and ambiance were all very good. Buffet was always full.. Restaurant was clean and help was always available .

Super clean place and hot delicious food. The cold food was appropriately cold. I will def be back
