If you request extra anchovies, they will be smashed into the dressing, not appearing on top of the salad as expected. Crab cakes are GOOD!

Came in on a Friday night at 6:00 with a reservation before a show, expecting it to be busy. There was only one other table. Why is a "fancy" steakhouse restaurant dead on a Friday night? I have my thoughts.1) making a reservation here was difficult. You can't do it on the website, which only gives a phone number to do so. They aren't open mon-wed, so I called Thursday multiple times...no one ever answered. I was finally able to reach Maumee Bay brewing co downstairs, who then transferred my call to Rockwells upstairs...who did not answer. After multiple attempts, MBBC took my name and said they'd "give it to them". Fast forward to Friday at 5:00, Rockwells called me and left a message informing me to call them to confirm. So i called and...shocker...they did not answer after multiple attempts. So i was nervous If I even had a reservation when we arrived. However, the restaurant was completely empty when we got there. Odd for a Friday night.2) since this is a "steakhouse", I ordered steak. The small 6 ounce filet was $50, and it comes with zero sides. For that price you expect amazing. Mediocre is the highest praise I can muster. It was chewy and basically unseasoned. I have never ordered steak from a nice restaurant and had to salt and pepper it myself. I've had MUCH better steak at longhorn steakhouse. For this price, I'd highly recommend Mancy's, as it basically melts in your mouth. Tbh, I've had better steak at home. Was it gross? No. It was just there. It felt like an amateur chef cooked in on a pan, let it sit overnight, and then threw it a microwave to reheat it.2) i ordered a baked potato as a side. On the plus side, it was huge. Other than that...it was underwhelming and frankly also overcooked. The skin and outer potato was hard as a rock. Again, it felt like it was precooked and tossed in a microwave.3) dinner companion got seafood pasta. Their comments relayed that was better at Olive Garden. The scallops were chewy and it was not something they'd get again. The bread was very good. The caprese was delicious. The drinks were fine. The server was nice. It's a cute space. Those are the positives. But for a "steakhouse", this was without question...the worst steak I've ever been served.

Rockwells Steakhouse, located in the Oliver House in downtown Toledo is one of the premier restaurants in the Toledo area. The ambiance in very nice, old warehouse with warm wood floors and walls, snd subdued light make for a comfortable and pleasant space. Service is excellent, knowledgeable and helpful. Now to the food(be sure to read the last portion of our review. I can say food is wonderful, our crab cake appetizer was flavorful and the sauce was delicious. They offer several different salads , our Caesar Salad good( as a Veteran patron I miss their unique Rockwell House Salad though) . Our main courses were excellent, my wife's rack of lamb was great, seasoned well and perfectly cooked, my 8oz filet was perfection , and the brandy peppercorn sauce was a perfect addition. Now a heads up, we check online for prices since we had a gift card and unfortunately the websites uniformly had old prices, I don't know how they could get these varied sites to update the information, but be aware there is a significant difference in the prices online (trip advisor etc) and the actual, but it is a wonderful place and well worth the price and we love it for special occasions

Reserved a private room for our small Wedding late lunch/early dinner. We had a choice of 3 entrees and the food was good. Drinks were good as well, recommend the steak and chicken here. Service was really good also.

Great service and ambiance. Great place for date night or larger gatherings. I have had their sea bass and Salmon. Felt Salmon was more flavourful compare to sea bass.

Food was below par. Hollandaise sauce was cold, steak was bland, and had to ask the server for bread. Very disappointed in the service, food, and vibe!! Will not return, especially at their prices.

It pains me to write this review for what used to be one of our favorite restaurants in Toledo. It started with the lack of attentiveness by the person taking reservations by phone. When she said, "OK so that's 4 people on Friday...." I said, no.... that's 4 people under Lewis L-E-W-I-S, Lewis for SATURDAY NIGHT at 6:30 and I repeated it twice and also repeated my phone number.Tonight, when we arrived....what a surprise...no reservations. And then the wheels fell off. I'll itemize it.1. They did not have a Mineral or Sparkling water...at all. Just Soda water from the fountain.2. The ice water tasted like hose water.3. I ordered a cup of Decaf. It arrived ice cold.I asked for another cup. They said they would make a new pot. 20 minutes later.4. Although there were Bread plates...no basket was brought to our table (all other tables had baskets)5. I ordered a salad. It was literally soaked with water and a soupy dressing was on top. I ordered blue cheese. It was dripping water. I didn't eat it.5. No steamed veggies at all... no green beans, Broccoli, Cauliflower just soggy vegetables in sauces. So I ordered the creamed Spinach which was literally like a soup. I drained the Spinach out and put it on my plate that my fillet was on. There was maybe 1/2 cup of Spinach in the entire "boat".6. I ordered Brussel Sprouts when I saw our friend's order.. they looked good and healthier than the other stuff. I was done with my meal and they still hadn't arrived. Our friend sent his back because they were cold. I canceled my order. The steak itself was delicious. It was cooked perfectly. I was really looking forward to going out to Rockwells....and I can honestly say that although we have been going there for 20 years....I do not plan on ever returning. I would much prefer to spend my money at the Chop House or Benchmark. I have never left a review like this in my life. I usually go out of my way to leave positive reviews on Yelp to shed light on finds along the way. This brings me no joy. However, I believe that when you spend $300 you should expect a decent meal with good service. So disappointed.

While I've been to the Oliver House many times, I've only visited Rockwell's on a few occasions. Why? The food is just too dang expensive!Don't get me wrong, the food is great! I recently enjoyed a steak "lobster oscar" style topped with butter poached lobster claw meat, asparagus, and bearnaise sauce. It was ridiculously decadent and delicious. The curried cauliflower we shared at the table was really flavorful and so was the stuffed pepper soup we started our meal out with. But with EVERYTHING being ala carte, it just adds up too quickly. As I signed the receipt it occurred to me that we could have eaten twice at Mancy's for the price. Pro tip: eat downstairs at the bar. You can order off the full menu of Rockwell's and the Oliver House brew pub but totally avoid the crowds, which there are often.

Service was excellent food on the other hand was absolutely terrible. If you're looking to spend your hard earned money on a steak, do not come here, my tapwater has more flavor than these god-awful steaks. Along with the steaks, the sides were horrid. Lobster was overcooked and asparagus had disgusting cheese on it. Cheesecake came out frozen. In the event that you are stupid enough to come here and spend your hard and money you better bring some seasoning along with your own sides. Save yourself the waste of time and money and grab a steak from Costco or head on over to the standard/chop house. This place is hot garbage. Once again the wait staff is not to blame as the service was top notch. At least the owner gets rich on ripping people off . Time to make some menu changes before word spreads...I'd expect much more after a hefty $500 tab.

Use to be a really nice place. Last two times I've been there, like their other restaurant, the service and food have really gone downhill. I like Chophouse a lot better and the prices are similar. On Monday, my mother wanted to eat and has mobility issues and we ended up leaving because their sidewalk was covered in snow and she didn't want to deal with walking through snow and/or possibly slipping on ice. If you have mobility issues avoid this place in the winter because they don't shovel or salt their walks.

We were there recently but had not been there for a while mostly due to covid. The service a little spotty, however staff was pleasant overall. The place could use some basic housekeeping. Simple window cleaning for obvious smudges on the glass, sills needed dusting, etc. The food was disappointing from the quality in the past. It never used to disappoint and was always wonderful, but possibly new cooks or management have brought unfortunate changes in the kitchen. For the exquisite prices, (+$200 for 2)I'm sorry to say the experience as a whole was far less than exquisite. Will be back another time to see if improvements are made.
