Do you like cake?Wait. I meant....Do you LOVE cake??????I bet that got your attention! So I waited until the last minute to get a birthday cake for my wife this week. Between the storms and the virus, none were to be found from my nearby grocery store. I did a dive into Google and found Reeves was open. I called, had a great conversation with a gentleman and he told me he could have one ready by 2:00 (before my wife came home from work at the hospital).We were both new to Hummingbird cake, but I took what I could get these days. OMG...blown away. What have I been missing out on all these years? It is like banana bread on steroids. This was amazing and only $10 to boot. These cakes are legit, HIGHLY recommended!Even better, they have cake of the month. I will be back...love this hidden gem in Akron!

Feeling nostalgic, I ordered a small almond flavored white cake with raspberry filling to pick up today 7/3/2020, for a small gathering tomorrow. 12 years ago, I was at Reeves for a cake tasting and was quite pleased. I ordered over the phone and that was fine. I was so excited about the cake, I wanted to try a slice prior to my guests as no one would ever know. So, I wanted to taste each part of the cake prior to having a complete bite. The buttercream frosting tasted nice. It had the perfect amount of sweetness, although the frosting was a little hard. The raspberry filling was DREADFUL! It tasted artificial, like a cheap brand that came from a can. I've made raspberry filling several times before, and expected this filling to taste familiar. It did NOT. It reminded me of the artificial flavoring of raspberry zingers, no good. The flavor of the cake was a nice as it was a light almond taste that was not at all overpowering. The actual cake was VERY DRY AND VERY CRUMBLY! It tasted as if they baked it several days to a week prior, assembled, frosted and put in the fridge to wait for someone to purchase it. I did also post photos. NEVER AGAIN WILL I EVER ORDER FROM REEVES CAKE SHOP. I ordered this for a small gathering and I didn't want to spend the time baking the cake myself with all the other party duties I need to complete. Unfortunately, I will have to bake a similar cake, but making the raspberry filling from scratch (which is super simple to do) as I refuse to serve this dry, artificial filling flavored cake to my dearest friends. BUYER BEWARE if you aren't ordering a custom cake. You may end up with a pre-made, dry, artificial filling cake that you WILL NOT like.

They are a pleasure to work with Great communication, I ordered my father's 90th birthday cake with them from Texas. We sent pictures and they always responded quickly and shared ideas. We added cookies for the kids and they matched the cake perfectly. Everything tasted wonderful and very fair prices. If you want outstanding cakes. Check them out.

got the 50 cookie platter for Christmas and was very disappointedThe peanut butter lagged taste and I didn't get all the kinds I ordered.My sister also ordered cookies and she didn't get what she ordered . My rating I sorry to say is a zero' akron ohio

I saw all the great reviews about this cake shop and being new to the area I called them to make my daughter's birthday cake .... It was a simple quarter sheet cake with a guitar and some musical notes and writing on it ... The cake was still being decorated when I arrived at the designated pick up time (alittle irritated because the woman that took my order told me several times if I wasn't there by 1:00 they would be closing up and I would not get my cake)... The decorative work was very nice, but the cake (marble) was dry and the icing (buttercream) slightly grainy.... The chocolate ganache filling tasted good, but was layered too thin.... With all the great reviews I expected an amazing cake.... Sad to say, but my grandbabies cake from Walmart tasted better....

Got my husbands birthday cake here. It was vanilla with whipped cream frosting and custard filling. He absolutely loved it! He isn't a cake person but this worked for him. Not overly sweet. The custard layers for filling was very good.

Had the Hummingbird Cake for my Father-in-laws 88th birthday. It was wonderful. The owners are very nice and reasonably priced. I highly recommend them.

You have to join the Cake of the Month Club! It's the Best Deal in town. They'll even write on your cake if you ask and substitute frosting types.
