This awesome little Butcher shop has an amazing selection of meat and delicious sausages. On Fridays and Saturdays they have their smoker set up outside with some delicious selections to choose from. The owner Colin is a great guy and his staff is joy to talk and deal with.

I know a lot about Slovenian smoked sausage, eating them for 80 years. R&D is the best, perfect balance and just the right size...not too long and correct diameter. Balance means just the right amount of juiciness (fat), garlic (lite), seasoning (pepper), and salt. The competition was just OK.Years ago I put together a contest representing 5 othe sausage makers among 5 fellow dart players at the Eagles in Chagrin and R&D was voted number 1, first place. The only way to eat these delicious morsels is with a dab of FRESH horseradish. BTW don"t over cook and never boil, just simmer for 20 minutes.Who would have thought, and from a Croatian sausage maker too!Joe Mersnik

Upon entering, I felt like I died and entered into smoked meat heaven. You know how when you are near a campfire and you go home smelling like smoking embers? Well, I came home smelling of smokey sausages. OMG...This family-run Slovenian meat shop has been around for 20+ years. Why it took me so long to stumble in is a shame. After punk rock yoga at the Beachland, I saw this place across the street... "OPEN"... YES!!! I had been meaning to check this place out for a long time.As I walked in, the smell of smoked cured meat hit me in the face like a ton of bricks... yummy salty bricks. I was instantly happy and a bit overwhelmed. There's a lot to choose from. I figured I'd try some bacon. "With rind or without?" the owner said. Umm "WITH!". I had never had bacon with a rind before. As soon as I got home, I cooked a couple slices. OMGGGGGGG Yum! It's really smokey and the rind cooks into a bubbly pork rind. Some of the tastiest bacon I have had!I also got some Klobasa (Kielbasa) and some other stuff. I wish I got the names. I tried them all (in the car on the way home). I couldn't wait. The Klobasa was good. A bit different than the polish variety that I favor. The small dried sausage was really smokey and flavorful. The owner even threw in an extra. Next time, I will definitely get names so I can properly review them. But rest assured, it was all good. The owner was super sweet. The prices are incredibly reasonable and the selection is amazing. I will be back soon!

I agree with all the great things everyone else said. And I happened in there on a Sunday when he was open for the holidays. Among many other things, I bought a smoked rack of lamb! Amazing. Joe is so nice, and he offers cooking advice too. I also ordered my fresh leg of lamb for New Year's day. Love this place.

I lost my husband 4 years ago and we would go to R & D Sausage frequently. I purchased some smoked cottege hams from them by myself and he said that he will be smoking more soon. I purchased 4 hams and other meats. I asked if they were fresh and he was stunned that I asked. Well I cooked it a couple of days later, The white paper was wrapped around the hams and the meat had a white film on it and felt slimy. He is selling the place and may not care about his reputation at this point. I think he is getting tired of the business. I had to throw it out. I live to far away from the place to return it. I am truly unhappy about getting spoiled hams. I will go down the street to Radell's

During my annual pilgrimage to Cleveland to visit family, I like to stop here and pickup some of the real deal to bring home for myself and friends. They will vacuum seal your purchase for odor free transportation. My favorite is the smoked Slovenian sausage with a unique flavor that I find is prepared best by steeping in hot water (don't boil it) or microwave. Not so good grilled.

My favorite stop for dried Croatian & Slovenian sausages. The proprietor, Joe Z, is helpful with my choices, and is always fun to talk with. There are all sorts of sausages, bacon, hams, & other wonderful smoked & cured meats. This place smells wonderful & also has a nice selection of imports, including Ajvar, breads, and cookies.

The meat here is heavenly. This is one of Clevelands hidden gems. My wife and I have seen this place for years when we are in town, unfortunately we usually are only in town on Sunday's and the shop is closed. Today we were in town on Saturday and got to stop. Everything we tried was delicious. I recommend getting some bacon for breakfast.

R & D Sausage changed owners. My family had been going to the shop for 40 years or more. Joe was the greatest. New owners not so good. Placed an order for 24 smoked Slovenian sausage on a Tuesday for Thursday pickup. Right before Christmas so I expected them to be busy. We're told the new owners were trained by Joe and recipes were all the same. Nope. Not only was my order not ready but they were out of sausage and new batch was in smoker when I arrived. Waited for another half hour. Had to take them home and let them dry out overnight. Had a full house on Xmas eve ant the sausages are a tradition. They were not good. Not the same recipe . Spices were different. No flavor. And mushy. Besides being double the price of what they used to be. Will not go back again. Will now go to Raddells.
