Purple Parrot

I don't know if this has always been the Purple Parrot, but I have been coming to this ice cream stand for probably 30 years. This is an old-fashioned side of the road ice cream stand that has whatever you could dream of - hard ice cream and soft serve and so many food items from hotdogs to walking tacos to shredded chicken sandwiches to fried mushrooms and so much more. I personally am a soft serve girl and there are very few flavor combinations in this world that I love more than peanut butter and chocolate. On this my most recent trip this summer, I had the Nutter Butter sundae. The Nutter Butter sundae is Chocolate ice cream topped with peanut butter fluff, peanuts, whipped cream, a cherry and a Nutter Butter cookie. I'm sure you can tell by the description that this was a sugar overload, but delicious. I also got a pup cup for my pup, which is a small bit of vanilla ice cream with a dog treat on top. The ice cream was delicious and we had really good service my only gripe is the prices are a bit high. I paid $2.50 for a dog cup of ice cream - I just remember when that used to be like $.50 but I guess that's inflation for you.Overall, this is a great place with good ice cream and a nostalgic feel.

We stopped here for ice cream and were so surprised to see all the items they had on their menu. Not only did they have a huge selection of ice cream options but they offer a pretty big variety of food at a decent price. The portions for the ice cream are huge too! Purple Parrot is a perfect place to stop at after a day at the beach!

An all time favorite. Great ice cream and HUGE portions!! Love coming here during every trip. The medium size is like a large!

Place used to be called "Dar's" and was rebranded when sold. They serve Toft's ice cream and the portions are generous. The pricing was fair (I thought as well). I normally drop $20 at Toft's down the road, but was only skinned for $13 here for a family of four.The menu is pretty extensive with food and treats. I'd recommend a pit stop after a beach day at East Harbor State Park, or just in the area.

Great service -- quick and great quality goods. The orange sherbet is my favorite! We come everyday when we go camping at East Harbor.

The food is great. The employees are really nice. Also how it's decorated its amazing.

Love love love the coffee sundae!! Very pleasant owner, well taught kids who work there.

We are here on vacation and we have been there for three evenings. The ice cream is phenomenal! The strawberry doll web is my favorite. If you get a chance check it out.

Great ice cream. I really enjoyed my turtle sundae. Will definitely return next time I'm in Port Clinton!
