This place is HUGE! It has room&potential for so much stuff. The people who live here are lucky! I came in only for a flight to try out the beers. As a dark beer fan, the coffee stout was good but was too "coffee-y" for me. The dark lager was the winner. So delicious. There flagship beer which was a golden ale was really good as well, my husband had a pint. There's a taco truck on sight, Xmas trees decorated everywhere, and a friendly staff. Can't wait to visit again so I can not there for a while & take in the locals & drink some.beer

I finally got to the brewery itself. I'm happy to report that the beer is better on tap than in the can. The facility is huge, with loads of parking and seating. Service was quick and friendly. One of the owners was working the bar. I like that kind of dedication and concern for the business. One sip of the Oktoberfest and I got a pint. It's a nice slightly malted, slightly bitter offering. Their beer menu is interesting as I suspected knowing that they started with limited capacity (or relabeling beer from another local brewery). They brew three beers, a light, a pale ale, and an Oktoberfest. The rest of the board consists of mostly local guest taps. There appears to be a tremendous amount of brewing capacity in the back of the building, so I assume that they will begin to fill the board with their own beers over time. The benefit right now is that you can try a beer from a few of the other local guys without going there. Here on a Saturday around 3 and the place was doing a brisk business. The game helped I'm sure but honestly given the size, it's hard to gauge. This place definitely gets a recommendation.

Penguin City Brewery has moved to the old Republic Steel warehouse on Federal Street in Downtown Youngstown. They had their soft opening on July 1st, 2022. The bar features not only Penguin City beers, but also several other popular beers from other breweries plus a nice selection of wines, and liquors. We visited the brewery with another couple that are very good friends, and we each did a flight of beers that are on tap. My wife and I also purchased a half growler of Jamaica Me Crazy for take out. A fun local brewery! I hope that many people who live in the Youngstown area will support the Penguin City brewery.

Unfortunately couldn't try the beers. Was in Youngstown on a Saturday, but brewery doesn't open until 4 pm. Would be nice if it was open earlier on a Saturday....

To the person who wrote the other review, do you not know craft beers are ALL a premium because they're someone else's craft and aren't mass produced like a bud light...This is a great craft beer. Looking forward to trying future brews from here also!I appreciate supporting local craft beer. I was born and raised in Ytown and now live in Columbus and frequent local breweries around Columbus and this small town beer rivals those of the big city. I think it's fabulous Youngstown finally has a great local beer I can support when I come back home. Cheers!

The idea of having a local beer here in Youngstown is great however, given the economic status of the area (below average) I find their prices a little insulting. They claim to be a "blue collar craft beer" and have other catchy phrases like "solid beer for solid people" spare me....might as well be honest and just say "we're trying to maximize profits by beating your heads on the prices" Your average Domestic at a local Youngstown Area bar runs as follows: Draft Range: $1.50-$2.00 Bottles: $2-$2.50Penguin City Prices: Draft: Cheapest I've found is $3.50 and that's during Happy Hour. Typically it's between $4-$5 for a DRAFT! Bottles: $3.50 for some reason the bottles cost less, which makes no sense. Case in point; this beer is PAINFULLY overpriced. I get it, it's a "craft beer" so...I'll pay $3 a Draft and $3 a bottle without complaint. The current prices are driven by GREED and nothing more. What exactly are we paying for here IN YOUNGSTOWN? It's certainly NOT the logistics of getting the beer, it costs $.50 in gas for delivery. As far as the beer itself goes: easily above average. I love it, I'd love it more if I was paying less though.
