We were craving sushi and earlier I saw a post about Oba Sushi opening in the old Andora bubble tea space. The space: adorably decorated with lots of wall art and banners with Japanese art and food! It's super clean, intimate, and casual. The service: The couple behind the counter are incredibly sweetThe appetizers: we had the salmon aburi, which was so fresh and well dressed with some sort of ponzu dressing. It was tangy, fatty from the salmon, and perfectly umami. The miso soup was so miso forward, cloudy (just how you want it), and not some watered down miso soup. Truly very well done. The entrees: I had a spicy salmon roll and a salmon crunch roll. My partner got the sashimi platter. I was blown away by the salmon crunch roll. It was filled with fresh salmon, avocado, and cucumber and rolled in tempura flakes and drizzled with spicy mayo. The spicy salmon roll was actually different than what I was expecting (ground up salmon with a little bit of crunch). It was actually salmon and avocado with a spicy sauce drizzled on top--and I wasn't even mad about it. It had a nice kick that warmed up my tongue after I was done. My fiancée loved his sashimi plate. He said it was fresh, clean fish that was well cut. Both of our plates, as you can see, were just so beautifully presented. We legitimately said "WOW" when they came out.5/5 i have NO notes. In TLDR: we are so lucky to have a new sushi joint that we will be frequently. I don't think it will continue being quiet. As much as I want to gatekeep this place for myself, they deserve all the business they get. Truly and very happy to have Oba here.

This tiny sushi spot is worth checking out if you are in Erie downtown area. Oba offers variety of creative sushi dishes that feature fresh ingredients. Tried their special sushi roll with salmon sashimi, it was delicious. They offer dine-in, takeout and delivery. There are about 20 seatings so there might be a wait if you come in during lunch or dinner rush. The place is newly renovated and clean. The staffs are nice and friendlyDefinitely recommend this place

Like Sushi? Run, don't walk, don't look back. Were eager to try it out. Good location. Small, modern looking restaurant. Thought it would be cozy and good.Server was prompt and courteous. Excellent.Gyoza were 'best i ever had' according to one of us. So, they did that well.Miso was fine.Got the Sushi platter. It was nicely presented.Tekka rolls on platter were decent. Nothing to write home about.However....the nigiri sushi? All of the fish pieces were WARM. I don't mean 'not cold'. I mean, they felt warm in your mouth. I understand it was late and we were the only folks in there, but that's not a reason to serve warm sushi.Needless to say, would never go back.NOT recommended in the least.

Wonderful addition to downtown Erie! The miso soup was delicious, the eel and avocado roll was really nice but I think our favorite was the tuna crunch roll (we chose spicy tuna)! Absolutely delicious flavors. The rice is fantastic. Great service and cozy ambiance. Can't wait to go back!
