Don't know how this place is still open.Small, less than impressive wine selection. Many of its wines are priced above state minimum. The decor looks like something out of the 60s.The wine bar selection, if still open, is unimpressive. If your looking for a wider variety of both everyday wines and high end wines, Buehler's Milltown is a better bet. They can also order virtually any wine you want and they don't mark up special orders.

I always feel welcomed at Montavino. It is a comfortable, casual wine bar where you are always welcome to sit at the bar and join in the various discussions of the day. Ray and Jake will help you pick out a wine that is perfect for you. The prices and the selection is very good.Get personal service and leave happy knowing that you will want to visit again soon!

The first time I visited Ray made me feel right at home! Great service and made sure I had the opportunity to try different wines that would pair well with what I was eating.Recently I went back though and service was sub-par. The person working at the bar didn't give us too much help in selecting a wine. But we bought a bottle we liked an sat down at a table to enjoy. After a time the bar attendant came by poured most of the rest of the wine into one of our cups (which we did not ask him to do, nor did he ask if she would like more) and then took our bottle away...still with some wine in it! I found the service to be a bit...weird, to say the least.I'll go back to purchase wine. But probably not to drink it there. When I buy a bottle of wine I feel I am entitled to all of it & the bottle too!

while home for the holidays, i decided to cruise around town in my mom's minivan (because i always ride in style) and see the changes since my last visit. after driving past the empty shell that was hawkins market and a random assortment of thrift shops, craft stores, and other oddities, i noticed an OPEN sign that was still lit at montavino wine market.after my initial shock at discovering a WINE MARKET (!!!) in WOOSTER, OHIO wore off (seriously, this still kind of blows my mind), i parked to go inside. technically it was after closing time, but there were still customers at the wine bar and tables, and the pianist was still playing so i entered.one of the owners greeted me, and i told him how shocked and delighted i was to have found them. turns out they had been there for years, but of course i haven't lived in wooster for years. he helped me pick out a few bottles as gifts for my brother and his wife, great recommendations which were affordable, tasty, and totally suited to the descriptions of what i wanted.if i still lived in the area, i could easily see myself meeting up with friends at montavino to share a bottle and shoot the shit. it's a really cute and cozy space with nice lighting, great wine, and good music. if you're in wooster, be sure to check it out. (just do your best to ignore the depressing, mostly-abandoned strip mall surroundings.)

Great wine and vibe, but the place can get so noisy on the weekends when they're open in the evening that my wife and I cannot converse at our table or enjoy music. We just gulp our wine and go. Sometimes there are really loud people there. I Soundprint checked it the other night and it was very loud at 105. Normally even a busy bar or restaurant is no more than 85. I've loved the place for 20 years. I hope it changes.
