Mitchell’s Homemade Ice Cream - Shaker Heights

My family and I are longtime Mitchell's Ice Cream fans and I just realized I'd not left a review of their Van Aken district location! This spot is so conveniently located and the service is always very friendly and fast! The shop has the best ice cream smell when you walk in and there's plenty of seating inside and outside! My family, fiancé, and friends absolutely love Mitchell's :)

We stopped in for some birthday ice cream after dinner, and we were so impressed!The inside is very cute, with some seating inside and tables outside as well. I love the little train running around the inside of the store, it added a lot of charm to the store. The store was not very busy when we got there with only a few people ahead of us, but we noticed the closer it got to 9 pm, it got much busier. For ice cream, I ordered the banana cream pie on a cone which is, organic bananas, homemade marshmallow ribbon, and homemade shortbread crust. It was out of this world! It was some of my favorite ice cream I have ever had. I also tried some of my friend's milkshakes which were made with their dark roast coffee which is, a blend of Sumatran and fair-trade South American coffees. It was amazing! It almost made me wish I had ordered that instead of my own! Lastly, I tried some of my other friend's toasted pistachio which is made with homemade pistachio butter, and it was another fantastic flavor. I wish we had a Mitchell's closer to home than Ohio, but it just makes me want to come back and visit again even more!

Some of the best ice cream I have ever had. Mitchell's has a really great assortment of flavors and I had a very difficult time choosing amongst the options. I settled on the seasonal peppermint sundae. No regrets (other than that I wished I had gotten a medium instead of a small). Delicious. The peppermint crunch topping was a nice touch. My table also tried the amaretto ice cream and the mocha sundae. Both were met with rave reviews as well. If we had more time in the area, we would definitely be back.

Had to take my daughter to Cleveland Clinic. We were driving around and saw this really modern looking ice cream shop, and had to go in. There was no line. we ordered some Sundaes and while they were making our Sundaes, a line started to form from inside the shop, to outside in a matter of minutes. Probably the best hot fudge sundae I've ever eaten. Great ice cream. Shop is very clean. Service is great. Prices are right.

The best ice cream in the CLE, and you can fight me on that.I'm from out of town, have been a diehard Jeni's fan for so much of my life, and was reluctant to accept this place when my brother told me he found the best ice cream he's ever had when he moved to Cleveland a few years ago. Ohio can often feel like the amazing ice cream capital of the world with so many excellent dairy farms around, but reluctantly, 5 years and so many visits later, I really have to say that the quality of the ice cream at Mitchell's is just better than any other ice creamery in Ohio -- and my family has tried a LOT of them. Using Hartzler's dairy (also the best milk in town), Mitchell's just stands a notch above the rest with interesting seasonal flavors that actually make your brain explode a bit with how good the flavor combo is.Some of my current faves on the summer seasonal menu: wildberry crumble for a family crowd pleaser, campfire s'mores for the human with a diehard sweet tooth in your life, and peach for anyone who enjoys simplicity done perfectly. If you get a pint or quart, they will throw in some free standard cones, which is such a nice touch!This location is extra special to me as a sweet treat after a good meal at Van Aken and for how spacious, dog friendly and kid friendly it is (with garage parking!)Mitchell's has honestly ruined ice cream for me in other cities and I don't even know if I like ice cream that doesn't come from Cleveland anymore.

Very good ice cream with lots of flavors and items to choose from. Line moves quickly and you get to sample before you buy. I got their seasonal chocolate coconut almond - very good! You taste the chocolate and coconut flavors without any one being too overpowering and the almonds add a good crunch. They also have seating and tables inside and outside. We sat outside since it was a nice day.

I am so happy to have such an amazing local ice cream chain in my city! Mitchell's Ice Cream is one of the best, if not the best, ice cream I have ever had. I've probably tried every flavor and the best are definitely their fruit flavors like Lemon Black Raspberry and Banana Cream Pie. This review is specifically for the Van Aken location as I used to live near Van Aken and would get a scoop at Mitchell's at least once a week. The portions are generous for the price, the staff are always friendly, and the place is very clean. The free waffle cones are also a nice bonus.

There ice cream is delicious and customer service is spectacular and to enjoy an outing with family is priceless

Had to try this place for the homemade ice cream. We tried campfire s'mores, caramel fudge brownie, and brownie sundae. Was worth the visit! There were so many options, so we hate we won't be in town to try more. Will definitely visit again if we're in the area.
