I noticed this place replaced the Thursday's bar/ club. Decided to stop by and try and it out and see what they did with the place. It looks great! They have a very relaxed layout that encourages socialization (of course when it's safe to do so). They have tables where people can eat as well as booths for hookah. The staff are friendly and the owner was hilarious. Love the atmosphere of the place!I saw the had NYC halal style chicken on their menu. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Halal guys in New York. So if you're comparing your chicken to how they prepare it, you better be good. No it doesn't taste just like Halal Guys but it's pretty darn close! Their chicken was super tender and flavorful along with the rice. The white garlic sauce with their hot sauce was the perfect combination. The hot sauce definitely had heat but you could still taste the flavor of the sauce. It definitely satisfies that Halal Guys craving. I'm very happy this Middle Eastern place opened up. It's honestly just the restaurant that Akron needed. There aren't too many middle eastern restaurants around. Will be back very soon to try more!

The food itself is amazing so that's definitely what matters here. But be ready to wait at minimum an hour at any given point of the day.

I had just gotten off a 9 hour shift after not eating all day and I was starving. At 9:45pm on a Sunday, my options for anything that wasn't fast food was bleak. I'm not from Akron and work had sent me to Cuyahoga Falls for the day so there was no way I would be driving more than an hour home on an empty stomach. The Mid-East Cafe was the only place I could find that wasn't about to close up at 10pm. So I took a shot in the dark at trying something new. The staff was so amazingly friendly and welcoming to me it was as if I wasn't just a weary stranger or a patron. I tried the vanilla bean coconut hibiscus tea and it was absolutely refreshing. The chicken over rice meal was fresh (I could watch him cook from their open kitchen setting) and packed with flavor. Not to mention, it was a HUGE plate for just $10. I had more than half the plate to pack up and take come for later. I had to indulge a bit so I ordered the Shole Zard... there is no exaggeration when I tell you how it tasted like childhood. It was such an amazing experience. Please support this restaurant in my stead but I promise, when I come back up to Akron I will be visiting the Mid-East Cafe again and again. Thank you!

The woman at the front desk/cashier over charged me and gave me the wrong order twifr. Should not be in customer service and had a horrible attitude. I'll give this place a 2/10 stars... Food is mediocre as well.

Food was made fast, but that's the only real positive I have for it. Grape leaves were served ice cold instead of being warmed Their tabouleh contains a ton of cucumbers (I prefer none, was surprised to find it in there at all- totally overpowered the parsley and citrus)The chicken and rice dish has an unnerving amount of cinnamon in it; I found it to be inedibly sweet. The pita bread also tastes sweet to me and had clearly been microwaved. The baba ganoush was ok, probably the best thing I ordered, but hard to enjoy because I don't like their pita. I won't get food from here again

Food took almost an hour longer then when they said it would be ready, I ordered a veggie pizza and they cooked a pepperoni pizza. Wanted me to waiting longer so they could cook another pizza. By that time the rest of the food was cold. Used slice app the was recommended by their website. Staff didn't know anything about the slice app. They were not very helpful when I requested a refund.

Im staying at the downtown Akron Marriott. I'm in town on business. I ordered through Uber Eats and the delivery was dropped off in a timely manner. However, it was the wrong order. Apparently they gave my order to a take out order. I asked the young lady who answered they phone to kindly give me my order. She said. "We can make it but you will need to pick it up or have someone come pick it up for you." I let her know I'm in from out of two and am using Uber. I asked if they could make the order and pay Uber eats to bring it to me. I was willing to wait another 45 minutes to have dinner even though I have meetings tomorrow morning. She said that they could not pay to bring me my correct order. I said, "ok well Could I speak to a manager please?" She said; "I'm kind of the manager when the owner is not here." I asked her to kindly give me her name so I could follow up tomorrow. She said, "I'm an American citizen and I don't have to give you my name." I said, "I am an American citizen as well and have the right to get what I pay for. This is actually a legal right." She proceeded to hang up on me... She admitted it was their error but refused to do anything about it. Customer service fail...

This place is legit. I've had 4 meals here (all including the $9 NYC Street-style Halal w/ chicken) and I must say, IT IS ALWAYS DELICIOUS!!I'd previously only experienced NYC Street Halal in Harlem. I spoke w/ one of the chefs and he used to prepare halal in Time Square NYC. I have to say - the CREDENTIALS are REAL. If you've never had a halal-style chicken, rice, and white sauce meal from New York City, do yourself a favor and take a flavor-trip to the Big Apple - order some halal street-style chicken & rice from Mid-East Cafe. I promise . . . YOU WILL ENJOY!!......Post ScriptMy only complaint is that their appetizer of Middle-Eastern-style pickled vegetables is only from a store-bought, large jar. The pickled-veggies were still crunchy and tasty, but for $4 an appetizer in Akron, OH I'd hoped maybe they'd tried to pickle their own vegetables. If they did that...idk, this place could be MAGICAL!!Despite that P.S. - - - absolutely try Middle East Café!!! They have some authentically delicious food! I personally appreciate that the bowl-style meals are rice based and therefore GLUTEN-FREE!Give Middle East Café a try!! I promise the won't disappoint!

I ordered DoorDash from here to Akron General while I was working night shift. I love a good fattoush - this was the farthest thing from a fattoush. Lettuce, tomato, olives, some nasty "pita chips", pickles and a super oily dressing. That's not fattoush! Take notes from Aladdin's - dressing should be more acidic from vinegar or lemon rather than pure than oil! I'm giving it 2 starts and not 1 because they prepared my food fast. Not going here again.
