I am typically a very frugal shopper but based on reviews I purchased the Wild Chilean Sea Bass and some Salmon. They were amazing! Fresh and so flavorful. We don't live that close but it will be a regular destination for us. Can't wait to try other specialties. Treat yourself to something special. Life is too short for mediocre fish.

First time shopper and I was very impressed with the selection and types of food they offered I went back the next day to buy more! I described this shop as a great place to get unique foods and their frozen food selection makes for excellent appetizers for a dinner party. The fresh sushi was also amazing!

Everything is always so good! If you have a small gathering, they have a lot of excellent small bites in their frozen section. I bought sushi this week - delicious/nice size portion! The individual burgers are fabulous - after grilling these, you will never buy anything else!

As good as it gets in Clev. I can say this place has very good quality fish. When I make sushi or sashimi this is where i go 1st. The scallops are divine. The salmon is always top notch. When you by fish they give you a lemon, I have never used the lemon on the fish because it is so dam good. I just cut it up and make lemonade.Their beef is pretty fantastic. Everything is high-end. And when you have high end you will have high prices. This is, a you get what you pay for type of place.

I like to watch the Barefoot Contessa on Food Network, mainly because she is the one show on the channel whose primary audience isn't busy mothers and because she actually wants to challenge people to learn how to make interesting, unique and flavorful dishes. On the show, she makes everything happen with the help of a small phalanx of associates in the community--the butcher, the grocer, the florist, etc--most of whom know her on a first-name basis (or so the script says). Unfortunately, most of the grocery stores I go to around here are somewhat cold and impersonal. While I love going to Aldi's and getting a king's random of groceries for a mere pittance, I wish there was someone who could point out quality cuts of meat and suggest yummy things to eat that would, over time, grow to know my tastes and preferences. If I lived out in the eastern 'burbs, I think that the Metropolitan Market could be that sorta place for me. The place is very, very small (no long, confusing aisles here!) and the selection is a bit limited--however, the products that they do carry are great. We went there with a Groupon ($15 for $30 worth of groceries) that we used to purchase 2 sirloin steaks, 1\2 pound of scallops, veggies, and 2 pre-prepared twice baked potatoes. The owner even threw in a free lemon for our scallops! Using those ingredients, my wife whipped up a meal that was better that most meals I've had in restaurants in my lifetime. The sirloin was very, very high quality and the scallops were extraordinarily flavorful--best I've ever had! They also have a fantastic selection of pre-made frozen appetizers; if I wasn't blessed to have a killer cook for a spouse, I would definitely like to pick up some of them for cocktail parties and other formal entertaining. Like everything else in the store, they're a bit pricey, but I think they'd be worth the splurge once in a while. All in all, I was quite happy with my trip to the Metropolitan Market. Cleveland needs upscale grocery stores like this and I'm glad they're there!

Previous posters are correct...as good as it gets in the CLE area. Finally a gourmet market that serves top-notch steaks, fish, sushi, desserts, pasta, and the best of locally-made stuff. There are also unique veggies (purple beans). I could have dropped a small mint in that place. It is nice to have this place on the East Side where I can pick up many things in one stop. If I ever got Uber lazy and skipped cooking for a dinner party this place has some killer great options. Prices are high and they will put a dent in your wallet but if it is quality you seek then don't worry about it and shop here. Prime filets $18.99 per pound. And sushi made-to-order.

Stopped and got two filets to grill for New Year's Eve dinner celebration. After cooking them to perfection both my husband I took our first bites and agreed that something was "off". The meat had the taste of soap to it. We stopped eating them and ended up having potatoes and salad for our special meal. I took the meat back to the store and asked for the manager. The young man was nice but could not get the manager to come out and talk to me. He said she would give me a store credit and that was what he did. I spent time preparing the meat, driving back to the store and waiting. No compensation for our ruined meal either. Will not be going there again.

One day while at Heinen's grocery store, an American Japanese man saw that I was buying sushi. A pleasant man that he was...suggested that I go across the street to Metropolitan Market to purchase fresh handmade sushi. By golly he was right...the sushi was fresh and delicious! Let's not forget... that this market carries other unique products that you will enjoy.

Unfortunately, I had no other choice in star rating. If I had, they would not have received one star. So, I have been shopping at this store for over 25 years before they moved to this location. I was there on Friday, purchased four large individual Salmon filet. Water had leaked through the paper wrap and the employee who was multitasking before checking me out went to rewrap my salmon. BTW, he is also the same person that waited on me in their seafood/meet section. Well, needless to say, he decided to switch out two pieces of my salmon for much smaller filets. One couldn't even fathom as to why he and his co-workers decided to do such an evil and unethical thing and yes, I paid the price for the much larger filets when they switched two for the smaller ones as mentioned above. I had no idea this happened until I returned home. They will never have another night of peaceful sleep. At 66 years old, I am educated, a retired professional, and they probably thought I was some young person shopping there for the first time. Thank God for my youthful and blessed appearance. BTW, if you're not of their ethnicity expect the unexpected. Not sure if they are new owners because I always see different people here. I WILL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN. I will continue my over 45 years of a loyal customer with Heinen's. Evil works against others has a KARMA for sure.
