Mertie's Hungarian Strudel Shop

I love Mertie's, strudel was always delicious and she is so friendly but the shop has been closed for close to a year. I pray she is well and back to baking soon. If anyone has information that would be great.

Cherry, Apple and Cream Cheese. They all are great!! Tried for the first time today and it is awesome! Yum!!

The strudel is amazing & the crust is so flakey.The owner is a delight so nice & personable.

Went late afternoon. Only had apple strudel. It's very tasty. It reminded me of my Oma's. The lady that made it was super nice and friendly too.

This shop has the most incredible pastry I've ever had. The struedel is flaky and crispy yet melts in your mouth. So delicious. Not super sweet or sticky. True artisan craft. The struedels come in like a long flat loaf, where the struedel is wrapped around the filling on the inside. You buy a half or a whole. Not individual slices altho they will slice it for you if you want.Pro tip: You can also buy them frozen and then bake at home. There are more variety of flavors in the frozen ones, where the ready-to-eat might only be the three flavors of the day. The baker is a true gem. She mentioned she learned to make struedel in 1962 and the family shop has been in business for 42 years.

Cash only, small family ran business.Don't really know anything about Hungarian strudel, but saw the shop while driving by on vacation and had to stop.Super happy I did. Got 2 half orders one cherry the other cream cheese.Cream cheese filling was light fluffy with a sweet but mild vanilla flavor to it.The cherry was sweet but not overwhelming or artificially flavoured. The consistency was more of a past or a reduction than a jelly like you would find in most pastries.The pastry was light flaky with a nice crisp crunch to it lightly covered with the optional powdered sugar.100% will be back when in the area.

My first stop when visiting Cleveland!!! Excellent strudel, always have a hard time deciding which one to take home.

She makes the best cherry strudel!! Hv to get there early, and I live too far away to make it early. I had guests that surprised me with her Cherry Strudel!

Best strudel around. So fresh made by the sweetest Hungarian lady Mertie. Very clean place too.
