McKean Tavern

The sub was delicious as all of the meals I've had here have been. Get the fries! The service was good too.

While heading to Erie, I stopped by McKean Tavern (TAV) for lunch. The place has been in business for many years and the current ownership has done a great job in renovating this local hangout. The atmosphere inside is welcoming, very low key, and clean.I took a seat at a high top table in the front bar area, since all of the regulars were sitting up at the bar enjoying their beers and chatting about their fishing trips. There is also a back dining area and an outdoor patio area in the back. The bartender promptly brought me a menu and took my drink order. For lunch, I ordered the Turkey Club ($7.99 plus tax) served with kettle chips. My lunch was served to me in under 10 minutes. The stacked turkey club was HUGE, which had lots of sliced deli turkey, thick slices of bacon, American cheese (orange), tomato, lettuce, mayo between thick slices of toasted bread. The chips were crunchy and were salty. The turkey club was very good and priced very reasonably. I was very full afterwards. The check was brought over soon after I finished lunch. Overall, McKean Tavern (TAV) is a good friendly local bar and restaurant!

Unwelcoming setting unless you know people there. Food and drinks overpriced, and management is a serious disappointment.

Go out of your way for this place. The burger was honestly, truly one of the best I've ever had in my life. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. BBQ sauce wasn't too sweet. Fries were a bit ho-hum and the beer selection was limited. Also the ambiance of the place was a little intimidating if you're not a hunter. And yet... despite these drawbacks, I would go here again in a heartbeat. Shockingly good food in a tiny corner of the county. Worth your time!

Visited twice. First time I ordered french onion soup and chef salad. The soup had very little cheese. It seems the salad should have been made with lettuce that had been through a salad spinner. It watered down the dressing. I figured, hey, it's a bar, maybe I should order more typical bar food. Next visit I ordered cheese steak sub with side of onion rings. Both were okay but nothing outstanding.

We love the Mckean Tavern-they have excellent food that's very reasonable & the servers are great-their deluxe pizza is great! -they have done an awesome job remodeling the place too!

Stopped after fishing for a cold beer and dinner. It was awesome. Will be going back on next fishing trip ps. Beer was Cold

Want good bar food? Here it is! Love the outdoor patio, too. The slushies are yummy! Popular year-round and when they have live music it's too loud for me, but I'm an old fuddy duddy.

Our Server had an attitude from the moment we walked in?Then people she knew had walked in and she swooned in their presence. It's not the first time, and all I'm trying to say it turns me right off when we were trying to be personable and we're treated as a nuisance. She can have a bad day buts it's a reoccurring event.

Stopped there Saturday evening and it was great! However the bartender was quite rude and acted as if I was bothering her. We got a veggie pizza, the deep fried banana peppers and had a couple drinks each. The pizza was amazing and the banana peppers were great! We will definitely go back to try different things on the menu. Hopefully the bartender isn't as rude next time though.
