I found out about Mardi Gras Cake & Candy through an ex coworker. I asked her where the heck I could find a pastry cutter with a fluted wheel and a small fondant rolling pin near my house. I was working in Shaker Heights at the time and could have drove over to William Sonoma in Beechwood but really wanted another shopping option so I didn't have to deal with being on the east side longer than I needed to be. I was not in the mood for a shopping mall, busy parking lots, overpriced rickety cheap tools, or pretty much any type of store that was going to be a waste of my time. She recommended MC&CS. I found the two items and a shopping basket full of 170$ worth of other tools and supplies. Since then i have been coming back for all my one stop trips. Jill, the owner, has been very helpful as well as her assistant Tanya. For example, I called up the store and told Tanya I needed to package individual Valentine cookies for a project I had to get delivered ASAP. She asked what size, how many, what style of bags, and had the items ready for me at the counter with some pretty ribbon and tie suggestions. WOW, was that nice or what.?I would definitely look here for specialty hobby items like candy molds, colors, sugars, and just about anything the detailed decorator needs. The prices are fair and sometimes a steal.

I've been using Mardis Gras for over 2 years now for all my miscellaneous needs. As a home baker, Joann's, Michael's, and Amazon tend to be very overpriced. I've recently moved to Mentor and still make the 45 minute drive because of the relationship I built with the owner and the quality of the products.

I wanted to replenish some cookie supplies and instead of ordering online, I did a quick search to see if I could find a local place. Why didn't I do this sooner? It's such a gem. I just visited last week and already want to go back. I bought sprinkles and little flags for July 4th treats- items I didn't know I needed on my "list" because it's so fun to browse. Having items delivered is just not the same experience and all of the products and shelves are well labeled and organized. You'll find so many cute items here you didn't know you "needed".

If customer service were an Olympic sport, Jill the owner at Mardi Gras Cake & Candy Supplies would win gold in rudeness and hostility. Entering the store was like stepping into a dystopian nightmare where politeness had been outlawed and basic human decency was punishable by exile. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted not with a friendly smile, but with the icy glare of someone who clearly resents both their job and the very concept of your existence. When I dared to ask a question, the owner (Jill) sigh so deeply, I thought she might collapse from the sheer effort of tolerating a customer. The owner (Jill) has raised rudeness to an art form, blending hostility, arrogance, and complete disregard for basic manners into one delightfully toxic package. It's as if she graduated from the School of Sociopathy with honors.I thought, "Maybe they're having a bad day." I realized bad days are just their lifestyle. They don't just refuse to help you; they seem to revel in your inconvenience.Zero stars!

I needed a few specific baking items today. Jill, the owner, took the time to help me pick out the perfect items for my project. She is not only knowledgeable, but kind and patient. Mardi Gas is less expensive than Michael's or Amazon. I highly recommend this store for all of your baking needs. Nancy Inch

i have spent a good amount of money at this store but I will NEVER shop here again. Jill is the rudest, nastiest person I have ever dealt with. She is so sarcastic and belittling. I asked where a certain item was, and hand on hip she snarled "It's right up there". Forget about asking for advice. I took my granddaughter with me to purchase candy making supplies and she was shocked at how rude and downright nasty Jill is. My go to store now is Sweet Connections on Pearl Rosd in Middleburg. Very clean well stocked store and the women there value and appreciate their customers. They are so friendly and extremely helpful. Prices are the same or a little less than Mardigras Gras. I have to drive a little farther but it's worth it to have a good experience.

The worker that helped me was very rude and disrespectful to me. When I asked for help with some items she would make rude comments to me. There is no way I would go back and I'm very happy that I put the items back I was going to purchase I will never spend my hard earned money in this store. Instead of customers are alway right, let's think about owners/workers are irresponsible at the way they run their business. Think twice before going!

Honestly this shop is great and a fantastic resource for creative bakers. The shop is very organized, clean and has everything you could possible need! You can tell they genuinely care about their shop and costumers. Admittedly the lady at the counter does have a "tone" but I don't take it personally. She is very knowledgeable, patient and gave us a few chocolate tips. I will continue to support this small business and suggest others do so as well. Thanks!
