Depending on what you're looking for, Mad Anthony's is either a great or awful place. It's a true townie bar. Walk in and if the regulars don't recognize you, be prepared to be stared at constantly. Are you a moderately attractive woman? Be prepared for immediate flirted with by old, persistently drunk men. Drinks are cheap. Friday nights are karaoke nights and it was fun to watch. Just know what you're getting into and you'll be fine.

I'm a local to the area and Mad Anthony's is my favorite place to go unwind, drink and play pool. Bartenders know what you drink after you've been there a few times. I can go myself or with friends and always meet interesting people. Excellent dive bar for music, karaoke and pool! Come check it out!

The only reason to go to this crappy dive bar is if you have a strange fetish of being treated like a 1st grader by a mean and nasty teacher. I have never experienced a more unpleasant staff and amazed at how rude they are to their customers. They are total COVID Nazi's to the point of being unreasonable and their rules make no sense at all. I understand that all establishments must follow the rules but you can be pleasant and ask your customers to comply. Not being yelled at. I have been going out the entire pandemic and have been to many places. No one else comes close to acting how these people do. The rude female bartender actually pulled a beer bottle out of a friends mouth because she stood up and took a drink. Insane. We gave this place multiple chances and they acted the same every time.I am a local and love a good dive bar but I will never go back to this dump again. I will go somewhere that your business is appreciated.

Great time, authentic dive bar experience! Locals having fun, pool table getting work, jukebox playing the classics. Always a good time!

Really witchy bartender! My goodness! NotFriendly at all. Anyhow, drinks are cheap and you just gotta ignore the bartender. She seemed completely miserable. My husband had asked for a Budweiser draft, and she didn't seem to know the difference between Bud & Bud Light. So he made a comment to my cousin & I, and I guess she overheard and told me that she was going tokick him out if he got snippy again. My husbands comment was nothing horribly offensive by any means (and I'm not just saying that because he's my husband), and I felt she was way out of line. Like I said...she just came off like a very miserable person toBegin with. I should have told her something and not tipped, but oh well.

Waterville, OH is a very small town, which explains why Mad Anthony's is pretty much the only bar in Waterville. It is really not a bad place but there is not usually a crowd of any significance, it often seems it is empty with the exception of a few regulars that stay drunk at Mad Anthony's on a daily basis. One good thing about this place is that if you live in Waterville you can walk to it and you don't have to worry about finding your way home after drinking. Waterville is also a very safe small town, and the police do not have any trouble keeping it that way.

Mad Anthony's: A Dive Bar That Feels Like HomeWalking into Mad Anthony's feels like slipping into your favorite flannel shirt--warm, familiar, and a little rough around the edges, but in the best way. It's a dive bar that knows exactly what it is, and it leans into it unapologetically. The beer is cheap, cold, and endless, just the way nature intended. The regulars are the kind of people who will call you "buddy" before they even know your name, and by the end of the night, you might just have a nickname you didn't ask for but secretly love. The building itself is historic, though no one's quite sure how old it actually is--just old enough to have stories, and maybe a few ghosts, if you believe the guy on the corner stool. The crooked pool table in the back adds a layer of excitement (or frustration) to your game, and the food situation? Let's just say they've perfected the fine art of the toaster oven. A hotdog or frozen pizza has never tasted better, especially when served with the kind of charm only a dive bar can muster. And then there's the bathroom. This is where Mad Anthony's truly shines. They've cracked the code to dive-bar bathroom management by making sure the urinals are always packed with ice. It's a quirky, borderline genius trick that keeps the place from smelling like regret, and honestly, it's a level of thoughtfulness you wouldn't expect but deeply appreciate. The lighting is dark, but not "what-did-I-just-sit-on" dark--just enough to make everyone look a little cooler and keep the vibe cozy. Mad Anthony's doesn't try to impress, and that's exactly why it does. It's imperfect in all the right ways, and if you're looking for a bar that feels like an old friend, this is the place.

Absolutely the place to be. Great bar great people, nothing like hearing WAP and the national anthem played back to back. No better place to play a game of billiards while slamming a few with the boys.Neighborhood gem. If you're looking for the real Waterville experience you've gotta hit this place up. 10/10

The coldest beer in the Midwest. When going to Mad's, you'll be served the best Bud Light East of the Mississippi. Highly recommend.
