This park is in downtown Akron, Ohio. It is located on King James Way (also known as South Main Street). It is right on the same lot as the Akron Children's Museum.I visited Lock 3 park over a weekend (20-21 July 2019) for the 38th annual African American Festival & Parade. I was working at a booth at the festival. I wish more advertisement was done for the festival because it wasn't that busy on Saturday but way more people came on Sunday. Apparently though, Saturdays tend to be a quieter day according to one of the festival organizers. There was no rain during the time I was there and so it was a warm day to be outside (it was actually very hot). The festival organisers had my team and another vendor under a big tent so I was happy to be under some shade even though it was still very hot. LOCK 3 PARK -- This is a family friendly outdoor park that hosts events as well. There is a stage where different performers entertain. The park is a medium sized park so it isn't big. There are some benches to sit at around the park. A canal lock is used to raise and lower boats. Lock 3 sots on the Ohio-Erie Canal which is the waterway that flows into to Lake Erie. I don't known if this lock device is used anymore but I have a photo of the canal in my attached pictures. LOCATION -- As I stated earlier, this park is in downtown Akron. There is currently so much construction happening on S. Main Street that parking and finding a way to enter the park can be challenging especially if you don't live in Akron. Thankfully, I was dropped off both on Saturday and Sunday.Overall, this is a nice outdoor space. Swings and maybe a small playground would be a nice addition for kids. Also, a shaded canopy or covering would be great for hot days outside. ****- 98 total reviews in 2019- 307 total Yelp reviews- Reviewed on 22 July 2019

I don't live in Akron so I don't really get to appreciate this park as much as the residents here do so my snap shot assessment will differ from those that experience this park regularly. Although I've been here many times it's always been by happenstance, my corporate office is near by so when I visit the area this park it's usually the place I take a work break or when stepping out to vape. I have seen this park in all seasons and it definitely changes as the weather goes from pleasantly warm to horribly frigid and I must admit I prefer it when things are green out than when the ground is covered in snow. It's a pretty cool place to walk around and it's use is a diverse as the weather is in this part of Ohio. It's nice to have these green spaces for everyone to enjoy and with as many parks there are throughout the area not many interact with the public like this one. I'd say Akronites are pretty luck to have a place like this...

This place is a hidden gem in Akron and honestly the center piece of the city. It's got a connecting trail nearby, places to sit by and take in all the beauty. You get to be treated with the river flowing as well as numerous (outdoor) activities are happening nearby. Beautiful public art. I would love to come back here in particular.

One of the greatest updates to Akron Ohio! It brings the community together, it brings folks back home and it celebrates everything Akron! From the #5KDEVO and Black Keys to King James Way, the Hamburger and Rib Fest. Lock 3 does Akron proud. Rock the Lock brings the best of the tribute bands and it doesn't stop in the winter. Lock 3 sets up festivities with an ice rink, sled hill, parade and the lighting of the tree with Santa. Enjoy craft beer, local Akron food, catch fireworks from a Rubber Ducks game or take a walk around the University of Akron. If you live in Akron and you do not take advantage of what the Lock 3 dares to offer, you suck as an Akronite. I moved from Akron, but a twenty minute ride home can't stop me from enjoying the famed Kiss Tribute band.

Free concerts, free parking, great views...what's not to love.Lock 3 is the venue for many different family friendly events and anyone who complains about it better have a darn good reason since it's free. My favorite is the Jimmy Buffet tribute band and the AC/DC tribute band. I'm a sucker for a cover band or anything 80's.Lots to eat and drink in the area, check out the Lockview across the street if you have a hankering for a grilled cheese. Lots of bars have outdoor seating as well if it's nice enough to sit outside. If you left the kids at home, there are plenty of bars in the area to visit after a show- but this is a college town, so you may be the oldest in the bar if you are over about 22 at the right time of year. :)Check out the new "I'm Home" sign hanging in the backdrop of Lock 3. Still gives me chills that the hometown hero won a national championship!! Thank you, Lebron!

Love Hamburger Festival but they need to do a FAR better job of getting restaurants around - how about just around OH to participate! Run very Loosely - would be a super easy festival to under-age drink in. On weekends the shelters flush out the street people so you get some of that. Amazing number of them for a small town. And many of them look dangerous. But the area is well-populated for events and the cops are always around. And if you grew up in Akron or Cleve-O, you aren't afraid if any wine-o anyhow. The park itself is cool. I love the amphitheater sitting below the street and surrounded by various buildings. Plus there is a very nice ballpark down the street, and you can drink beer and eat and not even watch the mind-numbingly dull baseball games. Yea! Very nice job on Akron's part to use otherwise dead downtown space. Akron lives!

Lock 3Akron, OhioWednesday December 28, 2011Four StarsThis is simply a great place to take any child under 12 or date who can't ice skate. There is an abundance of parking in the structure, but we like idiots parked in the meter and didn't put enough quarters in the machine. (Luckily a parking ticket is only ten dollars). Form the parking structure. The elevator leads you to the skate rental shop. It costs a mere $3 dollars/person for a pair of skates. I got a pair of black figure skating blades (which is first for me), but they are comfortable and it makes spinning a lot easier. We then proceeded to the small outdoor rink. The ice was super choppy, but it's a great place to teach the little ones to skate. There are bunch of kids and adults falling all over the place. There really isn't any time limit, but after an hour, I was completely done. We then bought a three $1 hot chocolate and went home. This is a cheap and great way to spend a winter day.

Lock 3 is a great place to go for many different events. The free concert series in the summer is incredibly, family friendly. They have every type of band down there to meet everyone's likes. The Lock also has many other type of events throughout the summer for everyone. From Brews n Blues to the marathons. In the winter time the Lock has a ice skating rink that families seem to enjoy very much. Being an Akronite my whole life it is great to have a place like this downtown!
